  • Awful. I dropped my guitar once down the stairs and it sounded like that. What's with all the arm waving too. Just weird.

  • Brilliant playing, where did you get the music for this?

  • his guitar must have had an orgasm

  • u can play the guitar , but outchhhh my ears ! not good music at all ! :@

  • I knew Eric personally & you've done a cracking version of The Perc-C-Later, although (And please don't hate me for saying this...) It's a little too fast for my liking, it needs to be slowed down. On a lighter note, I'm glad his music is being carried on thorugh other people & posted on youtube as his wife & children will aprreciate this in the future knowing his talent is being recognised still.

Just wish he was still here! x

  • @mickiminx : ) no probs! All these old videos where rehearsal footage for me to watch back and use to tweek my playing. Eric was a great guy, really enjoyed the lessons I had from him learnt a lot!

  • yea same opinion - slow that down .. to many minor mistakes dude

  • Really well played. But I think you play this piece too fast IMO. The groove gets kind of lost.

  • not bad.... but i dont like the look of this prick

  • Check ou "declan zapala"

  • Nice one Dale .... i'm a huge Roche fan .

  • your good -Deerlittle7-

  • the finish is so damn gay!!!

  • yea man it was xD

  • so did you go to Britains got talent?

  • Newton Faulkner was taught by Eric Roche saw him live he was somthing else

  • thats awesome man did u go into BGT?

  • you are the shit ...i'm learning flamanco and i can combine both ..thanks man....u r the man.

  • I'm 27 though : ) and started playing when I was 12 ; )

  • When did you start the guitar drumming?

I started when I was about 10 and havent had any lessons...

I dont have vids on this acc but I do on another one.

    I hope I'm as good as you when I'm 27 :P

  • He is amazing and way better than you

  • That was really good honestly. I think more strumming and less tapping would sound a lot better though.

  • I don't know who came first, but perhaps you took influence from Andy McKee? Both great styles either way.

  • Andy is a great player but I was playing this style years before I heard of him. My first influences where Eric Roche (who wrote this song) Antonio Forcione, Michael Hedges and Thomas Leeb to name a few. Michael Hedges was doing this sort of thing back in the early 80's. They are all worth checking out. Thanks for watching : )

  • *comment based on only seeing this video

  • Glad you watched some of my other videos aswell. I don't play percussive guitar exclusively but do really enjoy it : )

  • You are really good at both. I'm glad I saw the others too :]

Although I don't love percussive guitar, your interpretation of Billie Jean is really cool. Anyway, I didn't mean to offend you or anything. If I did, I apologize :]

  • He seems to lose rhythm suddenly. He's a great percussionist, but not a great guitarist. Before anyone replies (or gives me a thumb down) idiotically, think about what I said (typed). Think about it. Seriously. Think. I never said he was a bad "musician". I said he is a not a great "guitarist" and that he "seems" to lose rhythm. Again, don't waste your time if you are not going to think before you reply (or give me a thumb down). I'm also commenting not expecting a reply from Mr. Campbell.

  • this is so cool! his hands and arms are so fluid...

  • Lol love it! Because it doesn't already have following and people haven't been drumming on guitars for hundreds of years. : S

  • I prefer the way lightning hopkins does it.. Or blues men in general this is kinda over done.. milked it abit.

  • That is a better more constructive criticism, demonstrates knowledge and musical taste, which I agree with Lighting is good : )

But obviously I enjoy playing this song check out some of Eric Roches other songs, he is very tuneful, - Bushwacker is really worth a listen.

  • Ps. Sorry if I sound like a tit i'm just version Vocal about my music.. its my passion as I imagine its yours just as much

I think you're talented at what you do. I'm just more of a Bob Dylan type of acoustic guy haha.

  • And most of us enjoy listening/watching you play it. What tuning is this in?

  • Nice. Would you be kind enough to post a tutorial on this piece? That would really rock my world - thanks. :-)

Apart from all that: great vids - am enjoying your playing...

  • The only problem is that the percussion might be just a tad too loud. Otherwise, pretty much perfect! Well done!

  • This guy's got hands like Dave Matthews'...only better, haha. I don't even need to congratulate him, I've seen his other stuff. I was expecting nothing less than awesome!

  • Excellent!

  • Man whenever I see you play, it just makes me want to give up. haha. You are extremely talented! I've listened to a lot of your stuff and it's tremendous.

  • OK, people are going to thumb me down big time for saying this but I have to agree with the judges here. Not sure why you chose this to audition with, especially with the introduction it has. You have much better tunes you could have picked by Eric, or even your own compositions. I don't think this tune (even though it shouldn't have to)has a very bid "mass appeal". Good playing when the song gets going, though.

  • Nice playing... ever listen to Issac Guillory (r.i.p.)

  • Thanks,

I have heard some Issac Guillory, but not as much as I should have - off for a little browse now.

  • very well played. I enjoyed it.

  • simon is such an idiot for buzzing you in like 10 secs

  • sounding good, but you're way too fancy in your moves

  • very good! nice one

  • fing is ur just makin it look harder than it is

  • how so - its as difficult as it is - if you play a lot of this type of thing its going to be easier, if you don't it will be more difficult. Perceived difficulty is what you are commenting on.... I just play it the way I do and have fun ; )

  • Not jumping on the bandwagon at all - Just happens to be a style I enjoy playing. Lots of people play rock, classical, jazz etc..

  • it looked kwl diddent sound the best but its complicated that style of playing.

toobad britains got talent judges are so into making music commercial crap

  • it's good but look like ur having a spaz attack but nice sound!!

  • I think that was very good!

    walter

  • how in the hell is that not music you fuck

  • HA i love your empty threats, its good music straight up, it takes talent to do something like he did. i dont see your ass doing ANYTHING like this or having the balls to post it on the web so yea

  • all i can say in britians got talent is im sorry you didn't get in. Im not surpised though 2bh because the three judges no nothing about guitar playing at all. Finger style proggression is very much a guitar players music i believe. Either way keep it up. A fitting tribute to the late Roche!

  • it's like a mix b/t jazz and flamenco? xD

    awesome though dude.

but i think Simon just thought it was more of a gimmick. i mean sure it's an up on the technical side but check out Tony Laf. if it's something to win the crowd, it's a touching song with an even emotional story behind it.

but for guitar players, man it's awesome in my book.

  • Wow an they said no? And they let thru some little twat trying to be a comedian? You truly deserve to get rele far in that competition, but i'm not surprised you didn't because guitar playing is not as accessible as singing, only guitarists will know how good you are! Simon Cowell obviously doesn't!

  • you rock dude keep playing

  • I was shocked by simon cowell. How more ignorant can he be?. he doesn't even know what finger picking guitar style is.

  • this guys my guitar teacher.

  • Dis guy used to be my guitar teacher!

I saw you on BGT and that bit sounded crap but the rest of the songs OK

  • didnt like it i dont mean any offence its just im really in to this kinda stuff and this wasnt good

  • beggining was good thewn when u added all the other sounds it sounded like the shit i just took

  • thats a little much dontcha think

  • dude , i saw u on tv last night , simon cowl and that dnt kno good music , ur an awesome player keep it going dude .

  • Hey dale, i seen you on tv last night! No matter what anyone says your awsome! x

  • This is awesome!

It's actually really annoying that they didn't even let you finish.

  • Well done Dale. Did they show it on the TV?

  • don't think so, Simon Cowell etc. did not dig it at all! played for about 38 seconds!

  • HOLY CRAP!

Awesome I'm going to get me some Roche now!

How long has it taken you to be that good? I'm moving to acoustic from electric and into all this percussive finger-style stuff (McKee, Hedges)

  • I've never heard the original of this one, but it sounded great to me. This one looks like it takes a lot of practice. Is that in DADGAD? Is that a Fishman Rare Earth pickup you are using?

  • Eric was a great composer - sounds like you've really nailed it, well done! I'd quite like to see you what you make of either version of Trapeze or Porcupine.

  • awsome! its been awhile since you post!

    Keep playing

    walter
