  • That is a lovely house. How did the bedrooms of the children you spied on compare?

  • If you want to spy on a computer, try downloading SpyRecon software. I used it to secretly monitor my daughter's emails.

  • This is sick.

  • i have an idea for what to do

    1. use goatse when that activates

    2. flip off the webcam

    3. ????

    4. profit

  • Why is this pedophile not in jail?

  • perbix? moar like pervix

  • @hobgoblinlkjfdsa Pervix? More like cervix IMO.

  • Congrats Mike. Partyvan will find you shortly.

  • pedobear did this on purpose

  • PedoBear in the HOUSE!! Lets Party!

  • Those of you who are talking about this being disgusting and this guy being a terrible person need to step back a bit and think about what you are saying.

He's proud of his work... fine. Technically speaking, it's pretty decent work from what i can tell. I'd be proud of figuring out how to do it as well.

The problem is that there was no system to safeguard the rights of the users put into place, and therein was the schools fallacy and eventual mis-step that will cost them.

  • Don't be a sucker @skyleach.

He's talking within 1 context just, granted

Though you must know, these applications can easily be used for other, much more unaltruistic tasks.

    Paedophilia for instance. Data mining...

And no amount of "regulation" is going to prevent the determined.

Step back a little further again eh?

  • are you kidding me? all of you saying that this is disgusting cannot be watching the same video I am. In this video he doesnt spy on anyone. He talks about how theres an option that IN THE EVENT of a reported stolen or missing laptop, a tech guy can turn on the tracking system so it can find the laptop. how do you think they found those laptops in the classroom that he refers to? he saw camera shots of a classroom! there's nothing in this video to suggest he's been spying on anyone at home.

  • @snowboardin206 Its not this video that makes us think he's (or someone for that school district) been using this to spy on people. Its the numerous news stories about it, and the lawsuit that at least one family has filed against the district.

  • snowboardin206, are you stupid?

  • @snowboardin206 Except for the evidence that the computer registered to Blake Robbins of Harriton High school was used to take pictures of him in the PRIVACY OF HIS OWN HOME.

  • I try not to joke about prison rape, but this guy deserves a daily dose for the rest of his life.

  • Disgusting. Everyone involved in this should be put behind bars. Let's see how many people can they spy from there.

  • gosh i bet the kids or parents didnt even know about this.

what would be embaressing is if someone looked at porn on the laptop, imagine being called into the office for that!

  • Does anyone here actually believe that the network support staff is making policy decisions for the school district?

This is a school district administration so throughly convinced that its students are having sex and doing drugs that it has resorted to a set of behaviors so abusive and bizarre as to almost certainly drive students to sex and drugs.

So, instead of insulting a man you're probably never met, consider finding the names of the people who made this policy and going after them.

  • regardless of the school districts policy, common sense should have told this admin that he was entering potential dangerous waters by using this software. We are talking about minor children and the privacy of the home. these are sacrosanct. He should have known better.

  • huzzah ! A logical comment !

    FOllow the spying!

  • Another thing that makes the school's behavior look suspicious in this, is that though they claim this software was only intended to track stolen school-issued laptops, because the school couldn't afford to have its laptops stolen (naturally), they wouldn't allow students to use their own laptops, and take the risk of theft upon themselves, and in fact the school confiscated student-owned laptops when students brought them to school.

  • fishy

  • @happypyro Who cares who owns the laptop? The ownership doesn't affect that it is taking pictures of someone, without their knowledge, in their own home. And "putting it in the fine print" ? wtf - you think it'd all be ok if they hidden a mention of the spycam in the details of some notice?

  • My point was not to blame this guy for doing his job but blame the administration for not letting parents know the feature could be used. ITs only a privacy issue because the parents and kids did not know about it.

  • @happypyro Agreed. It was not your post to which I was reacting.

@toddwbucy It's true, but my in my experience with tech people, they often get caught up in the idea of if and how they can solve a challenge that's been posed to them rather than questioning that challenge.

This particular situation highlights what seems to be an extreme example of that.

My point is simply that it looks like Perbix is being put out there to take the fall for a decision he didn't make, which seems unfair.

  • Have you looked at Perbix's youtube video and blogs?? He's proud of his tech abilities and being able to spy on people.

  • @kenj0418 Actually yes. It's the job of the parent to read all the paperwork and sign the legal notices and such. This SHOULD have been put in the terms of use agreement the school SHOULD have made all parents sign BEFORE handing out their equipment. You expect anyone to just loan out Laptops w/out the ability to recover them if they get lost or stolen & kids are irresponsible. It was handled very poorly by the administration to not give any notice that the software was installed or it's intent.

  • Not acceptable ! disgusting.

  • My iSight light has never turned on unless the camera was running.

  • I can't think of ANY possible set of circumstances that would make even installing this feature OK. Let alone using it without the knowledge of the legitimate, authorized user when (presumably) no theft was reported. It is OBVIOUS that someone under 18 at some point is going to photographed changing clothes or worse. It should have been obvious to EVERYONE that this was a colossally bad idea and a lawsuit (or child porn arrest) waiting to happen.

  • This isnt mike perbix's fault its the fucking schools fault for not sending out a fucking permission slip to the parents, the school is throwing him under the bus cause they wont admit it was their fault so the school wont get in trouble

  • @Maino2467 Wrong. It is Perbix (or whatever tech was installing this)'s fault AND the administrations fault. There are numerous reports of students asking about the blinking lights AND BEING LIED TO. The tech staff clearly knew damn well that students and parents were unaware of the spy cam. Everyone involved in this should be fired, prosecuted criminally and sued civilly (one down, two to go).

  • No but seriously this kind of a thing is NOT okay for a school environment, like he says. This makes way more sense for personal use if anything. I don't see why the fuck they'd install this rather than a GPS system.

  • Pervix...

  • Mr. Perbix needs to go to JAIL.

  • No, this program is fine if people can voluntarily accept or reject this program (it may be useful for companies). However, teachers and admins need to be punished for this coercive and forceful procedures.

  • My comment was not about the program, but the brain dead Perbix character and the administration. Didn't they pass this proposed use by their legal team????

  • Students report the light on their cams going on intermittently, I betcha Mike Perbix beats off to pics he snaps of these kids...

  • I bought my daughter a net book and the first thing she did was place a piece of tape over the cam at the top of the screen, at 16 she's smart enough to know the risks, maybe she's learned from me but she's already savvy enough .....come on people it's not rocket science.

  • There are a lot of progs out there that also do the same thing, any netbook or laptop with a camera is vulnerable , unless configured right to block certain ports anyone can spy on webcams, I cant believe not one student was smart enough to put a piece of tape over the cam. easy hack lol

  • @digitrunner: Uh, no. What you've said is utter nonsense.

  • dude stop think get back to me when you grow up

  • ignorance is no excuse

  • I wonder how many times the admin. were staring at inappropriate pics like if a kid left the computer on in their bedroom while they were getting dressed or something. You can bet the pedophiles of the world are excited to hear about this feature. Bring on the stupid arguments in support of this spying...

  • @MauritiusRand HELLOOOOO...same SCHOOL DISTRICT...same SCHOOL DISTRICT employee!

Gosh, the dimwittery on display is astounding!

  • Proof?

  • If they wanted to track it, then why the fuck didn't they install GPS? What the hell were they thinking, remotely activating a camera solving the problem?

    *facepalm*

If it was a public school, no way in hell I'd want my tax dollars going to this abuse of power.

  • Thanks for uploading this video, pretty damning evidence against the IT man of the school district. Scary how little oversight there is.

  • This will be a one-sided court case. All the evidence here, LOL

  • It is now being reported that that many LM District students had noticed their laptop webcam activation lights coming on briefly at times, and when some of them complained about it they were told by administrators that it was just a "glitch."

I'll bet those were not "glitches" at all but were, instead, instances of unwarranted snooping by someone in the district's IT department. Indeed, in light of the national attention now cast, have these so-called glitches mysteriously stopped occurring?

  • Technology is getting to damn advanced for our own good. Now some fat fatty creeper named Mike Perbix can get off to spying on kids.

Tell me, what is the benefit from this? Generations until now have been fine without this crap.

  • WOW!!! He has DNS name! That's so *difficult* to get once something calls home... /sarcasm

Fantastic feature to get yourself in jail for illegal wiretapping of legal users. You know, kids at home? It is one thing to have remote tcp-pings to your server, indiscriminate of user (for tracking purposes and anti-theft) .It is quite another to take screenshots and webcam shots. I think one of these crosses wiretapping laws, child porn laws, privacy laws and copyright laws? fantastic feature!

  • I hope that asst. principal goes to jail. This is deplorable.
