just because you can pull a lot of books out your but of authors who agree with you doesn't mean a hill of beans. Try reading the bible. you pulled out everybook but the one that matters...humm ...i wonder why.
So why in the heck did slaverly last as long as it did if this was a socalled "Christian nation"? You need to quit listening to the lies. and open up your eyes to the truth. I agree with Sandermaatt87, It is not about what you say but what you do. Jesus said that many will stand before him on that Day say Lord, Lord.... And he will say. I never knew you.. Depart from me you who practice lawlessness. So just becaus they say the name Lord does not make them a christian.
Does Gregory boyd pretend that they are just deists? I think his main point is that the founders didn't amke a christian politic (concerning blacks, indians) It i not about what they say. So even tough the founders were christians america wasn't a christian country.
Hello. Well, at the end of the Constitution. it says "done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven"
Notice, not only do they reference Christ, but they did not call it the year of THE Lord, but the year of OUR Lord 1787. What do you think, now that you know our Constitution ends with the statement that Christ is the "OUR LORD" of the Founders???
Thy did not say the year of our Lord Jesus Christ but the year of our Lord, their is a difference. The power is is in the name of JESUS. Their our a lot of people in other religions that call their god lord. So that isnt saying anything to me at all. They should have expressed the name clearly, and should have not been so vague.
Another good book is "Edmund Burke and Natural Law". John Adams and Burke corresponded frequently about the moral ability and rights of man that was given from a Creator God. Adams was a very devout man and as a result much of his ideas on Natural Law are reflected in the Constitution.
Have you ever read Thomas Jefferson' Bible?
