Don't be so ignorant. That would be like me, a southerner, saying all you Yankees are stupid. Don't be like like that. There is plenty of ignorance everywhere and we all need to work toward ending it.
This was such a glorious movement, a struggle that would inspire generations to come for centuries of all races. What I don't understand is how the black youth of today has dumped all these values to embrase those represented by 50 cents and SnoopDogg. Why is that a stupid song about bitches, dough and fucking niggers can easily overpower the very own words of MLK and Malcom X? How did that happen?
this needs to be mandatory for history period!!...this is for everyone to see and discuss...100 years after being emancipated a race of people were still being treated like slaves,,
@xBornWithNothingx I grew up in Alabama--which is a far from perfect place in a lot of ways, believe me--but I watched parts of Eyes on the Prize in my public school education.
Man I remember having to watch this in my 7th grade history class, the whole series. Had to write a 5 page report on it too. I will never forget this documentary.
Eyes On The Prize is a great presentation because you get numerous interviews and firs hand accounts with the courageous people who actually lived through those events...many of whom are now honored ancestors. However, I always suspect it when you have a television camera always all up in the middle of each and every event. Today, we would call that Reality Television and it has to be analyzed and evaluated continually for its authenticity and alterior motives.
The south was dixiecrats up until 1968. and ever sense then most southern states started voting republican. Richard Nixon had the most highest voting from the south (79%) ever held in the south. Reagan, and Bushes never macth these level, although Republicans rule the south.
PBS used to run this every MLK day....need to go back to that

This seriously needs to become mandatory for black history month. Especially in the South where people are still ignorant as hell.

@xBornWithNothingx Ignorance is not limited to the South. You've got racist, devoid-of-God, idiots EVERYWHERE!

79% in the South. Interestingly 70% of white Southerners vote Republican now!!

So for the most part, the Republican party is the political party for white individuals or the political party for conservative white individuals?
Seems like the Republican party subconsciously still advocates a form of separation without violating any of the Civil Rights Act-like laws.
