You should feel lucky they allow you to read and and even more that it is REQUIRED! Where I am from it's all conservative, no other opinions matter. It is ridiculous that you don't realize the amazing thing you have gotten to experience. Freedom of speech at its finest. You didn't like it because it showed you your wrongs, well to be precise, OUR WRONGS! You should read the other ones and just really think about it.

we had to read it, we got deep meanings out of the book, a lot of students didn't like it, but a lot did too. The author came to speak to our school and told us that we were wrong for looking into his book and getting deep meaning out of it, and then he told us to read the entire series. It obviously left more disillusioned than others.

It was burned because we were forced to read the book. granted, it had some decent points... but it was not liked very much by most of the student body. Some friends of mine took revenge upon a copy of it.
