I saw this on Broadway, and during one sequence Kline grabbed a female member of the orchestra and gave her a big kiss. It might have been during this number, or the big fight scene at the end.

@msesme1 Only found the DVD of this last year, and I think Kevin Kline was THE BEST Pirate K'ing ever - vocally, athletically, dramatically and comedically - he had the lot, nicely packaged in the purple breeches and slashed shirt! Get tired of those who copied Papp/Kline's work and turned it into farce! Surprised at you saying he was a gymnast? I read he studied piano,moved to acting and did rep over US before "Pirates". One of his teachers said he was not sporty, played soccer but no more?

@skillicorn13 No way!!!!! Kevin Kline was pure comedy - and sexy with it. Jon English took it to farce. Kevin Kline is elegant and clumsy, charming and thick, murderous and sobbingly soft-hearted, but never OTT. I had hardly heard of him before - not seen much in UK - but fell over a clip of his King on YouTube, with great voice, (and purple breeches with slashed to the waist shirt!) - and I've gone on falling ever since! He is the gold standard Pirate King, and took the role to a new level!!!
