Abrams is a HuffPo sycophant... He should do a correction on this story since that former aide has come out saying that he was totally misrepresented by the left-wing Huffington Post. These two former parole members appointed by Clinton are just coming out against Huckabee because he didn't reappoint them to their positions. They've stated before that Huckabee didn't try to influence them...funny how they change their story during a political campaign.

Maybe you would feel a little different about this if they had posted the whole letter. If Huck wanted to let this guy out he could have commuted the time. Yet he did not.

That isn't what the letter said. The quote you are thinking of was from a letter in which Huckabee denied his commutation. This is another quote being taken out of context. Huckabee was saying that the best way for him to be reintroduced into society is through parole, NOT by having his sentence commuted.

Of course, in Arkansas, Governors have no control over initiating or prohibiting parole, they can only intervene by commuting sentences. The previous Governor had commuted Dumond's sentence, but Huckabee denied a further commutation 3 times. The Clinton appointed parole board decided to allow Dumond to get parole, and Huckabee expressed support for their decision, but he had nothing to do with it otherwise.

Yes the previous Governor commuted his sentence to 39 1/2 years.he would have never gotten out of prison.I know a con when they start trying to blame Bill Clinton. "Dear Wayne ... My desire is that you be released from prison"

An out of context quote from the letter denying Dumond's commutation..again, the worst you can say about Huckabee is that he supported the parole board's decision that Dumond should be granted parole. Rape is a horrible crime, but it's rare for someone to get a life sentence for one count. Parole in a case like this would not be all that unusual.
