  • Your filming is obviously talented and music is atmospheric. Although if you ever have a problem sourcing music, may I suggest another 'atmospheric' combo under the name of "pandacetamol" I'm sure they would be happy to help- though don't quote me!

  • Great video; I enjoy all of yours :-)

  • Me and a buddy have been in the tunnel below the hospital near Dumbarton road, that was interesting. The ones in Kelvingrove park and the botanics look good too though any advice on how to get in. We have considered ropes but though that would be to obvious.

Is this tunnel the on you can get into right below that bridge that has Gregg's on it?

  • Good video, plenty of atmosphere, like they way you filmed it & put it all together.

  • Great video. Whats the backing track called?

  • this is quality ad love to do shit like this

  • Great video mahn.

I was down myself to the Botanic Gardens railway though chased out by a bunch of tunnel neds. can be dodgy.

    good work

  • fantastic trip. That whitish thing onthe wet walls is creepy !

  • DAVID!!!! Your gona get ticks! HA HA, but at 6:10 one of them got crabs.

  • i think we used to party down here years ago after clubbing

  • Great video!

Me and a friend are planning to explore some of Glasgow the glasgow tunnels. How did you get down/into the tunnel?

We've found an area at the back of costcutters which you can get to but it's a long way down.

  • @davidashwood Yeah, the bit at the back of Costcutter's is the open area with the plants and the broken monitors you see in the video. We got in through the front entrance down by the Kelvin, we got lucky because one of the bars had been pried off before we got there. It's since been fixed. :(

  • @davidashwood

next time your down the tunnel pop in to costcutter for a bottle of irn bru on the house

  • @davidashwood for what this tunnel where used ???

  • I used to go down this tunnel all the time about 15 years ago, just for the fun. First time we came out at the SECC station and the worker there looked a bit shocked to see us climb up onto the platform. I painted a big white rectangle of emulsion on the wall about halfway round one night, never got to finish the artwork! Great place.

  • Great footage. The only thing I could focus on was the Tangerine Dream soundtrack. (I was a huge fan back in the day.)

  • Cool footage.

I walked all the way through the disused Woodhead Tunnel (5346 yards long) in 1994,there was an office about 1/3rd of the way in near to the 1st vent shaft, still frozen in time.

Cant get in there now as national grid are now convering it to carry high voltage power cables over the moors.

Old railway tunnels & infrastructure are very facinating but very dangerous too.

thanks for posting guys, take care out there,(from an ex BR engineering inspector). : -))

  • Hey, thanks for watching and posting.

I just had a look at the Woodhead Tunnels on Wikipedia - seems like an explorers dream come true.

The tunnel in the above video is only about a mile long with not a lot of stuff to look at. More interesting is the Glasgow Botanic Gardens tunnel which was part of the same line and includes a whole station basically as it was half a century ago. I've been down many times but never, as yet, with a camera. You should check out some vids of it.

  • this videos amazing :D !

that isn't at Kelvin Grove park is it?? cuz it's the first i've heard of any railway tunnel,

that wouldn't happen to be at the Botanic gardens n yeah i think i know the tunnel your talking about near the SECC, i've always been curious about what in these tunnels but i couldn't picture myself going in who knows what i could come across :S lol

    thanks for posting. 5star

  • Cheers Sarah! This video is indeed filmed inside a tunnel under Kelvingrove Park, a different one to the Botanics tunnel.

It was part of the same line as the Botanics one, originally running from Botanic Gardens, under Great Western Road, coming out at Kelvinbridge, going alongside the River Kelvin, and back underground in this tunnel at the edge of Kelvingrove park.

  • i made a film here in the early 70s.....the day all the telephones rang...i'll post it as a response

  • just back from the tunnel, was curious so me and my mate un-bolted 1 of the bars. shat maself but its still open if any1 wants in. its the north enterance nxt 2 the kelvin. happy hunting

  • Oh, you mean the Botanics tunnels? Yeah, that's the only entrance I knew of to that one. The fence is sealed and there is barbed/razor wire along the top of it now. The other way in, I guess, is at the Kelvinbridge end, but it's a bitch to climb.

I thought you were talking about the Kelvingrove one, sorry about that.

  • Where is the second way in? I know there is a small patch of open sky that you can see in the video (it's behind Costcutters on Argyle Street in Finnieston), but it's surrounded by buildings and inaccessible.

  • you crazy people... ive heard there were raves down there - never went to any but heard of people who did... dont fancy trapsing about in all that sludge tho :(

  • Hey nice video.

Btw how do you get access to the tunnel and from where? Because my understanding is that it will be under lock!

  • Yeah, it is now, but a few months ago I noticed that one of the bars was damaged and bent outwards making entrance possible. I took the opportunity to get some footage while it was still accessible. Was right to do so, too, as it has now been sealed again!

On a side note, I was down at the Botanic Gardens tunnel last week and it's been re-locked, welded and reinforced. :(

  • You should try the tunnel at the Ruchill Golf Course, was hard to access when i went there a few years back...but access it i did.

  • Ohhh... wasn't even aware there was one there. Thanks for the heads up!

  • yea good vid guys, theres an old walkway under the clyde tunnel. they sealed it off at both ends but the tunnel is still there, how cool would it be to see inside eh.......... G

  • Do you mean the one that passed under the Clyde between the Rotundas? Apparently, it's used as a conduit for gas pipelines now, so SOMEONE must still have regular access to it, but I'd imagine there'd be security with it being owned by the gas board and the safety aspect. I had heard about it and have always wanted to go down there, though.

  • yea, thats it. would be worthwhile lookin into methinks. i will let you kno how i get on. ......g

  • I did hear the rotundas are sealed up and inside there's a big steel doorway with various locks preventing anyone from getting in. I remember Scotland Today ran a short feature on it a couple years back, they showed the inside of the rotundas but they weren't able to get access to the tunnel itself and just showed some old photos of it. If STV can't do it, I don't fancy our chances, but keep me posted of any developments! I'll see if I can find the STV feature online and point you to it.

  • nice one. i was passing the other day on my way to work. the one at the stv buildings is up 4 sale or rent. . now theres a thought. wonder if theres a law against being a prospective buyer havin a look round. mwahahahaha (evil laugh)

  • Brilliant work guys. I've wanted to explore the Kelvingrove tunnel for ages, but it has alwasy been padlocked whenever I've checked. I've explored the Botanic Gardens and Great Western Road tunnel before with friends though. The Balgray Tunnel may also be accessible. It is over at Kelvindale - the portal is behind a set of houses on Kelvindale Road. There was some small gaps in the fence. I've still to explore this one too. The other end comes out pretty much at Gartnavel Hospital.

  • ha, cool stuff mate. at first i thought it was the tunel under the transport museum....but that one you went to looked well good. wheres the entrance?. ps digg th tangerine dream too

  • The entrance to this one is next to the River Kelvin, in a corner of Kelvingrove park, underneath Gibson Street. If you stand outside Kelvinbridge underground, near the exit to the abandoned Botanics line then head across the car park, alongside the river, you won't be able to miss it.

Always wanted to get into the Transport Museum one that runs underneath the hospital, but unfortunately the entrance is blocked. There are some ventilation shafts that are open, but you'd need a rope ladder.

  • Great vid mate, I was in there myself on Saturday. Creepy place, what with all the actual shit lying around.
