Actually, I believe the stops are: Crewe Warrington Bank Quay Wigan North Western Preston Lancaster Oxenholme Penrith Carlisle Motherwell Glasgow Central
I wish you really could complete this journey so quickly. Travelling on the West Coast is still a miserable experience. 4 hours Rugby to Glasgow is hardly a competitive time. British Rail was doing this 35 years ago! The whole West Coast up grade has caused massive disruption to travellers but ultimately has been a complete waste of money.
It would be useful to know what stations are stopped at. How about subtitles? The pauses at the stops are quiet long considering how fast the tape is!
Just watching the video, the stations which the train call at (in order) are Crewe, Warrington BQ, Wigan NW, Preston, Lancaster, Oxenholme, Penrith, Carlisle, Motherwell and Glasgow Central.
Superb video. It shows how twisty the WCML really is, something you don't see from maps or signalling simulations.
No they don't. It may seem like it, but when their are 4 trracks, some stretches of line, use them as 2 sets of 2 tracks (one set slow, one set fast). So in the video, the train is using the fast tracks, on the right hand side.
When there are two tracks, or the fast lines are in the middle, then trains run like cars, on the left.
Love this video...Maybe if Virgin would sort out the WCML upgrade, then we could get Pendolinos running at this speed! :-)
I've got an idea to merge this one in with some APT-P footage and a Moonsorrow track to try and give a true feel of hyperspeed - Is there any way I can download a high-resolution version of the video for that purpose?
Anyhow...Thanks for a stonkingly great video! :-)
-= DieselDragon =-
(P.S: I reckon that it would have been faster on an APT though! :-D)
ive always loved these, since a kid. Thing is its done with a 'still' digital? So when the train is flat out, the individual stills are so spread out, they bear little or no relation to the neighbouring frames. When it slows down at Glasgow, its much more cohesive. But thanks; very enjoyable all the same.
my eyes hurt- too fast and jumpy and blury- sorry

A few people would like to see this at a bit slower speed and I quite agree.

took 4 hours? i think that just proves that the WCML needs a signalling upgrade.

At 1,000,000,0000,0000,000,000,000,000,000 mph. That could get u to Jupiter in 4 minutes. I mean the planet.

That could get you from Inverness to Sydney in 30 seconds!

You don't think that because railways were invented in the UK that the rest of the world have their trains running on the wrong side - tkdlindz !!

even the trains in england drive on the wrong side. nice job!

French trains do it like Britain as well.
