    Thanks man

Just wanted to let you know that your video was very simple yet VERY effective

  • does this also fix the problem of not being able to hear anything when headphones are plugged in? Because i can hear audio through the built-in speakers, just not with headphones on

  • Thanks bro, Ive had this before and was able to fix it. I just twirled my headphone plug around. its thicker so its easier than a toothpick :)

  • That red light is the optical. I got it, just stick your headphones in as usual and twirl the headphone jack around...dont go sticking toothpicks etc in your expensive mac!!

  • Worked for me too - the side he is talking about (9 o'clock) is on the USB/Power socket side of the hole.

  • thank you so much!!

  • cheers

  • FUCK I CAN'T EVEN HEAR THE SOLUTION BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM !

  • Thank you so much, I just did this on my wife's macbook pro. I did what you said and put the toothpick about the 9-10 o'clock position and slightly moved it back and fourth until I heard itunes playing. Once it started playing I left the toothpick in the same spot for a few second then removed it. Now we have sound. Thanks again.....

  • thanks brosephina it worked for me :D

  • ok guys so this is what i did...

i pretty much headphone raped my computer. (best way to put it)

i took my head phones and plugged them in out in out in out in out (yea you like that dont you) haha nah but really it worked if you dont want to use toothpicks and what not. by the way do it fast for best results. (and dont forget to pull out in time if you dont want a bunch of little ipods running around ;D )

  • @327bran DId the same thing. I was fiddling around with a toothpick for about ten minutes and the headphones took me ten seconds to fix the sound. Thanks.

  • just wanted to say thanks. It worked on my macbook.

  • Thank You. No more "Red Light of Deaf"

  • lol us a head set to hear him it didnt work for me tho so its not gonna work lol

  • I was watching this video with my headphones plugged in. Then I rewound to the start to use your video as an audio indicator, and lo and behold I take my headphones out and the problem is instantly fixed! I didn't even have to hunt for the sensor or anything. You are clearly a wizard and I bow down before you.

  • Okay you said it right and I did exactly what you showed us... and all I can say is Awesome! Thanks so much - what a pain, but it works now. I spent hours reading all kinds of fixes, but yours is the only one that actually worked...

  • thanks it work for me

  • it'd be great if I could hear the audio. but i've got the 'Red Light' : (

  • @augwevo plug in headphones and watch this

  • @augwevo AUDIO WORKS WITH HEADPHONES

  • @augwevo put a toothpick in the hole (that's not what she said) on the left there's a little sensor at 9 o'clock and u wanna move it down to about 6 o'clock and hold it there.

  • thank you!!!

  • Your a factor bruh! Thanks for the help

  • Yipee, this even works in New Zealand

  • thank you so much! i was freaking out till i found your video! :)

  • absolute genius! worked perfectly. although for me, the switch thing was on the bottom of the hole, at the 6 o'clock position. don't know if its different between macbooks or macbook pros, but just thought i'd let you guys know.

    thanks again!

  • YES jfactor05. Thank you.

  • You're a Star!!!! Exactly 5 secs and it was fixed... now I can hear you through the terrible speakers of my old Mac and the sound is such a relieve:)) Thank you!

  • OMG thank you, took me like 5 seconds, Was trying for hours before that. Cheers mate ;) x

  • the method I used was a mini-screw driver (like the ones for glasses) and turned it counter clockwise a few times and it popped the sound back on

  • I had just tried to twiddle a stick in the port at random but it wasn't working. Thanks for the video. IT WORKED!!!!

  • Hey thanks your method worked!

One thing that may help someone else, on my regular (not the Pro) Macbook the sensor was at the 3'o clock position (looking into the hole) and there were 2 sensors at the 3'o clock position, it was the second sensor (the one farthest back in the hole).

  • thanks

  • But after i fixed it it still comes back like after i put the toothpick in then i put my heaphones out after fixing it it came back D:

  • thanks . fixed mine :)

  • YEAH IT WORKED

  • funny thing is i put my headphones in to listen to it i took it out and my sound was back lol Thx anyway

  • I've been having this problem for a few days now and I still can't manage to make it work... I've used a toothpick, a bobby pin, the tip of the headphone jack and nothing. Somebody HELP please? :s

  • ...Nevermind, somehow it fixed itself o_O

  • clutch thanks a million man!!

  • hahahah; just a quick comment... how should I go about hearing this video if my sound isn't working ><

    just sayin'... hahahhaha

  • @jozlynnprime lmao owned. ok take a toothpick or led or something that fits in the hole. wait until 9 o clock or so (a flashlight might help if you cant see) find a like censor thing in the hole and stick the toothpick or whatever inthere so its touching the light and censor. hold it for 5 seconds and have like itunes or something playing in the background so you can hear it. thats basically what he said :)

  • Thanks for the tip. It worked the first time with a toothpick.

  • thank you

  • thanks this happened to me for the first time tonight. i used a paperclip, and it worked really well.

  • Right after seeing this, I took out my headphones and, voila. Red light gone. Problem fixed by itself.

  • what is he saying........ you see, my headphone jack has a red light coming out of it, and i do not have any audio.....? -.-

  • Thanks. You helped me fix my cousin's MacBook Pro.

  • he says 9 oclock but is pointing at 3 aclock????? is the video on mirror what is it acually 9 aclock or 3 aclock also there are first like 3 little balls 9oclock, 6 and 3 and there are also 2 other tingys way back neer the ligh one at 9 oclock and one at 3 witch is it???

  • this is ironic cuz my audio doesnt work so i cant hear wat hes saying LOL

  • @mhcblues22 you can hear audio if you plug in headphones

  • THANK BRO!!!!

  • You rock : ) Thanks

  • a needle worked better for me. thank you :)

  • thanks so much man!

  • Thanks for this, very useful. :)

  • will you actually marry me LOL thank youuuuu however it isnt as technical i just stuck itin for 5 seconds while the light went out then wiggled the fuck out of it and it worked LOVE YOU :P x

  • You mean 3:00 not 9:00.

  • Sweet, thanks man!

  • i just stuck my headphones back in, pulled them out and it was fine... It's obviously some sort of dodgey connection. VERY gently wiggling your headphone jack in seems to fix it.

  • OH SHIT!!!!! Aye Jfactor dude that worked!!!! PERFECT! like try number 3.

HEY if you guys are having the same prob watch this and listen.... takes a sec to find the hump but works perfecto. And I am NOT a robot i'm a real azz person @mikeyphotog.

Peace JFactor!!! Thanks a lot bro...

  • Ah man, thx.

  • Thank you so much!

  • THNX DUDE!!!

    :D It works

    Greets from The Netherlands....

  • thank you so much it works......yuo are the man

  • thank you! works great. it was kind of funny to try to follow along to your audio instructions about how to fix the audio... haha

  • from 1:44 sums it up with the smugness of doing it and the classic laugh from the back.

    Peace

  • Thanks a lot, it worked first time. Very clear instructions.

  • I tried that, and it still doesnt work

  • thank you!! you should work at the genius bar lol

  • Thanks Bro! It worked.

For the benefit of everyone, the bit that sticks out is actually to the left (9 oClock.) Get a cocktail stick and poke the small protrusion on the left. Eventually you will know you've fixed the problem when the red light switches off.

    Hope that helps

PS. Apple needs to really sort themselves out.

  • please...i don't understand really!!if i watch inside the hole...i have to see this part that i have to touch??the only thing that i have now is a hole more larger.....

  • thank you very much! this totally helped :P very clear explanation, AWESOME!

  • You legend!!!

  • thanks a lot man. its hilarious how hard it is to find such a simple solution to a problem on the internet.

  • REMOVE THE SPACES and paste the URL below in your address bar for an article on the red light fix:

    bit . ly / 8DLngQ

  • many many thanks

  • Thanks man

  • I could kiss you

  • this would help if there was text because i cant hear what your saying! but thx for the help nonetheless

  • Thanks sir, your advice was really excellent, but I did it by use an compacted soft hand paper for do't to harm the sensor inside. Thanks again.

  • I was having problems like this and I got a bobby pin and wiggled it in the port until the light flicked and then went off. Thank you for posting this vid. look forward to more videos.

  • this is good and really helpful advice

this is exact thing happened to me and this is how i solved it.

you should do another one with captions I had to figure it out on my own bcz I couldnt hear you

  • Hello! I had been having this problem for months. I tried this method and many others to fix it but nothing worked. I finally fixed it by cutting a Q-tip in half, dipping it in rubbing alcohol and rubbing the sides of the hole to clean it. I don't know if it's safe for the computer, but if you are desperate like me you can try this :)

  • @petitetouale This one worked for me

  • Thanks a lot mate. Works like a charm.

  • thanks.. ...
