  • what make and model r the metal gears?

  • do they burn out?

  • @TheTeamMental No, i've never had any burn out but I have had issues with the nylon gears stripping. We've moved on to the $5 metal gear version from hobbyking which appears to be far more robust for combat.

  • @accuratechaos how do u speed hack them and is it a reliable method?

  • @TheTeamMental Not reliable enough to write a tutorial up about yet, but basic idea is joining the two center gears together with a pin. If you can keep them together reliably then you just use those two to drive the final output gear, removing the one below the output. The metal gear ones are a lot more reliable to speed mod. All comes down to builder skill really, takes a lot of practice.

  • @accuratechaos could u show in a video how u do it?

  • @TheTeamMental Nah but this picture should help: img(.)photobucket(.)com/albums/v424/dyrodium/P1020986.jpg

For the pin I use a cut down screw from the case. You can get heaps of more info from the robowars . org forum if you need!

  • @accuratechaos i can't find it. can u send it to me if i give u me email?

  • @accuratechaos how ofter do nylon gears burn out?

  • @TheTeamMental I had the first gear strip the teeth off after 4 events or so, but the servo was fine and they're so cheap it's easy to replace. They won't survive direct hits but the metal gear ones will, they're heavier and more expensive however.
