This song kills me every time I hear it. I love that there is something both beautiful and sinister about her songs. "This is nothing new, no television crew, they don't even put on the sirens--" How great is that?
You know, I really don't like country, but I'm willing to file Neko Case under "folk" along with Lucinda Williams. I'm a professional musician, so I'm pretty critical, but even so, I was blown away the first time I heard one of her songs. I hope the market will allow for a successful career - she's an amazing musician in many, many ways.
Great comment - I actually hope she does NOT make it into the mainstream market. Not that I don't wish her millions of dollars and what not, but I don't want her to change one single bit. Here's to never seeing her CD at Starbucks - Neko - keep on rocking!
I know she's big on the indie thing and I'm all for that, but I was still pretty thrilled and not at all miffed when I heard 'Deep Red Bells' at Starbucks a couple days ago.
I agree. Those women were made to sing together. I just saw them in providence last weekend and was wicked excited to see the second mic onstage. Love Neko alone, but Kelly adds so much
Most beautiful song I've heard since forever. Corporate radio will never play this and thank god they won't; we don't need them bastardizing what I consider "total purity of essence". I never get tired of this song and I've heard it about 5000 times.
This is definitely one of my favorites from Neko's catalogue and i have to absolutely agree with Mimosa87 that Kelly Hogan deserves recognition for her beautiful harmonies that flow with Neko's voice to perfection. instinctually harmonious indeed! =D
This song informed me that there is a great songwriter among us, been a fan ever since.

It's so nice to see Kelly getting recognition like this. Atlanta misses her.

I even named myself after this song :) It's so good, wish more people would hear it.
Love Neko but in my opinion it's when she's with the New Pornographers that the magic happens.

This is easily one of the best songs of the decade. She sings with such intensity.

Here, here!!! I've read that she doesn't want to anyways. I am very glad for that! Here's to not selling your soul to the corporations!

Neko Case is awesome. My favorite redhead. She also did a cool duet with John Doe called "Highway 5".

Give credit to Kelly Hogan. She is the perfect accompniment singer for Neko. Thay almost have an instinctive way of singing together.

Love this song. Neko is the new Patsy Kline.

I just got turned on to Neko, and I love her voice and lyrical imagery. Patsy Kline was first vocal comparison to come to my mind, too.
