  • What a dream. Love you!!! Need a teaching assistant?? Lol. I think everyone wants to be a part of this school now! Such positive energy and pure love of music and the arts!! I have been all for not cutting arts in schools for years because music was the highlight of my school days. You're an angel to those little angels! Hope they keep u around forever. You are like Mr. Holland from Mr. Holland's Opus! Lol. Xoxoxo. LOVE.

  • The lives you've changed, the dreams you've built, the families you've cheered up and the kids you've saved from the streets ... Mr. B. take a bow.

You are a credit to the human race and I wish I had a teacher like you all those years ago in Glasgow.

    Well done, Sir.

  • why are you so amazing ? :)

  • Gah, you need your own tv show... You are just so energetic and expressive! I hope you know the work you do for these kids really is life-changing.... If I didn't have teachers like you, I don't know where I would be, but i certainly wouldn't be here right now. Keep up the great work!

  • Mr. B - If we could just clone you and place one of you in every school in America - how great would that be?! Your passion and dedication, and the joy and talent of the children, is so inspiring. Bravo!!!

  • You go Mr. B!!!! You win the best hair out of all music teachers!!!!!!

  • I LOOOOVE HIM!!! What a great person!!!

  • Yes, not everyone expresses themselves through math, english, or science. It is utterly important these days to offer the arts in schools especially public.

  • Wow Bonnie Hunt really reminds me of Sarah Palin here LOL.

  • Honestly, he's sucha cool guy. My music program is terrible. I love to sing, I love music, but i lip sync in music class because we sing the weirdest songs and do the most pointless things.

  • @graceisahurricane Ugh, I know how you feel! Plus, half the kids in my chorus class were just there because they thought it was an easy A.... Hardly anyone actually bothered singing! It was horrible!

  • bonnie is hot

  • STATEN ISLAND WOO HOOO!!! I WENT TO P.S. 20. BUT WOO HOOO.

  • This GUY! MORE PEOPLE LIKE HIM IN THE WORLD PLEASE! we need these guys..he's like a JEDI lol like in the movie the men who stare at goats..jajajaja INSPIRATION!

  • Love your dedication to your work... and what Bonnie said at the end, that teachers give so much of their own to give their student the best experience in the classroom... that is so true, and I'm talking out of my own experience. You deserved it!!! Saludos desde Tijuana...

  • just checked this one out for the first time. Love you, Gregg. I'm so happy for you!

  • Imagine for a minute what AMAZING little miracles our schools could produce if all our teachers had this guy's passion and absolute LOVE for what he does! I feel like teachers today really aren't in it for the kids (although with what they're paid I can't see any other reason why one would want to be a teacher lol). Hopefully he'll start a revolution of teachers who only want to see our kids prosper and become happy and productive members of society. Keep it up Gregg :o)

  • I'm sooo tired of people mentionning money, talking about making celebs out of ur pupils...

    This is NOT the point!!!

    Keep up the good work!!!

  • the world needs more people like that! what a hero

  • Haha, I love his reaction of the check.

  • You are amazing!! I have been watching PS22 videos for like an hour now! I can't get enough!!!

  • I am a first grade teacher in Baltimore. You can see the passion exuding from the kids in each video. BRAVO!

  • You deserve it!

  • MR. B' I LOVE YOU AND I DON'T KNOW YOU! You are amazzzzzzing, and the things you do for those kids, it's great to see it. you're kids give me the chills and put the biggest smile on my face! keep up the wonderful-ness. YOU ARE AMAZZZING.

  • Congratulations you deserve it. [2]

  • You said the principle is named Miss. Constantino?

Do you know where she had worked before or after, because my vice principle in middle school was named Miss. Constantino and now I'm curious if it's the same person.

  • i love that guy he's sooo cute! i wish he my my teacher!!! lol lucky kids lol

  • Angela I am , so proud to say that i am a school aide, in ps.22 right here in staten island ny, and i am one of MR B"s[Gregg] biggest fan. From the moment you hear, the beautiful sound of the ps 22 chorus, you insantly feel joy in your heart, and that is what best desribes the feeling that will always stay with you forever...

  • I want teachers like you for my kids!

  • 10 g's! well deserved!!

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH so taltented and hot!! CONGRATS AND AMAZING GREG!!

  • talented yeah hot though i mean really

  • Congratulations you deserve it.

  • I went to P.S. 13 when Miss Constantino was there and we had absolutely no music education whatsoever. It is an experience that has hindered my entire life, until I finally moved to South Dakota and was introduced to choir and music-- and I really hope that by now they've added some sort of musical curriculum. Thanks, Greg, for being a supporting twine in the growing web of music in the schools of NYC. I can only wish that you were around when I was in elementary school. =]

  • the kids are cute and how cute is Greg, I think Bonnie would like a date...can't blame her, she's not the only one!!!!

  • Tu eres el mejor profesor que conosco sigue adelante felicidades ... Eres el mejorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • gregg that was awesome!!!!! it looks like your youtube hits have doubled since this show!!!!you are the man!!I'm very proud of you for all you've done for all the kids!!!!keep rocking!!! gotta teach them DREAMER by OZZY !!!!!!

  • We need more teachers like this! I know that the kids would do better in school & at home.

  • Most teachers deserve a $10,000 check. This guys ends up on Bonnie Hunt, so he gets more pens and erasers! Kudos to ALL of the hardworking music/performance arts teachers who will NEVER see a moment like this!

  • try coming to england, very few teachers get the chance to shine as much as he is... i had an amazing music teacher, but he couldnt teach us like he wanted us to...

if you can get the kids out there, and singing, and doing something that makes them happy.. then go for it.. it doesnt matter if you get to go on a chat show or not... just do it .. because that's satisfaction enough....

  • That must mean you never had an inspiring teacher who took time to show you she cared. How sad. : o (

  • My first grade teacher was Bonnie Hunt's sister.

  • OMG they got to meet the godess Tori amos.. Best thing ever.

  • That money is well deserved! What a wonderful teacher!

  • cute!

  • Cool

  • this kids are soooooo lucky to have a great teacher like him. Hes touched all of those kids lives

  • I am astounded as to how you still managed to keep both feet on the ground. From to Ashton Kutcher to Chelsea Clinton - that kind of attention is enough to make you loose sight of why you started doing this in the first place. I've been following your videos and I'm very, VERY impressed that you are still consistently humble and terribly dedicated to your class. Thank you for sharing these videos. I personally love your cover of Let It Go. You guys rock!

  • best choir i've seen!!! They all look happy and havce beautiful voices and talent!!!!!

  • This man should be nominated for CNNs Heros. He teaches these children to be themselves, have confidence and fun. This is what a teacher should be.

  • This is why I want to become a music teacher, and somehow touch kids lives. Major props to you Mr. B.

  • Wow! If only we had more teachers like him. The passion in him as a teacher is great. That money he got, is well deserved! :)

  • i hated music in my school, we never really had anything like what this yeacher does. we had a choir but it was a stupid one, no one really wanted to do it cuz there were always kids in charge of it. and it was always kids that no one could stand to have being in charge of them..... im jealous of the kids in this choir!! rofl.

  • Ok...wow. I have spent my morning reading about the PS22, what you have done, what you are doing - it is just amazing. I am a music student in New Zealand and I want to make a difference somehow, someday. Seeing the joy on the children's faces, seeing the absolute love and passion and HAPPINESS that they have whilst singing - I want to capture that and bottle it. It's amazing. We all need that in our lives. Thank you SO much for what you do Mr B. You have inspired me today. Thank you xxx

  • i wish my music teacher was like tht

  • Wish my music teacher was as humble and nice as you. You can tell you love what you do.

  • You know, Mr. B, I'm from Brazil. We muchly don't have music program in our public shools, any kind of art program that I know (only isolated examples). Watching you and your kids makes me wanna do something to that reality to change in my country! It would be so good to have thousand of not so-great, but yet good choirs in our elementary schools aswell! Keep doing your wonderful job! I've been listening to the chorus since Purple People's rendition, a long time ago! lol. Regards from Brazil!

  • purple people, so in love with that cover! glad to hear that's the one that got you hooked. :)

  • I'm in love with that one too. =)

I'm a HUGE Tori's fan, as you, thank you for all her renditions by far! Gold Dust is inspiring. ^^

  • lol! 2 for 2 so far on naming my personal faves.....

  • I am an elementary music teacher in an inner city in CT. I find this man to be a credit to the teaching profession. The kids sound amazing and it's not even what they sound like, it is watching HOW they sing. There is such joy in their faces. You cannot put a price tag on that ever.

  • This guy is amazing.

  • Gregg ~ you are amazing. Thank you for sharing your talent and grace with us. xoxo from California

  • this really made me think about pursuing a career in the field of education. you are such an inspiration.

  • same.

  • As an art teacher myself, I am aware of how much effort goes into influencing the lives of their students. You are an inspiration to more than just students. I am completely in awe of how the students are giving their everything through their song. It says a lot about you as a person to allow these students to shine so bright and not assuming the spotlight for yourself with the accomplishments that you have achieved with these students. They are going to remember these experiences forever.

  • I love this guy!!!

  • you are so cool!! i luv u!! i want u to be my music teacher!!!!

  • You are one of the greatest humans on the planet. You're making this world a better place. You absolutely deserve every penny of that 10K! You deserve 10 times whatever your salary is. Kudos to OfficeMax for recognizing greatness.

  • Gregg, you are truly an inspiration. Those kids are so lucky to have you! Congratulations, you really deserve it!! :)

  • Well deserved! Congratulations! Keep up the good work!

  • I hope to God you get the biggest raise a teacher could ever receive.

  • gregg breinberg, you are my hero. ....have fun at the garden tonight. :)

  • Gregg, you are an absolute wonder to the world of music and I honestly hope that through you and your amazing choir that more school district administrators as well as the government will seriously realize the importance of music programs in school. Thank you so much for everything you've done and I hope the sky is the limit for you and the kids.

  • Mr B! So great to see you and the children getting the recognition you deserve for all of your hard work! Is the version of "Viva La Vida" that was featured on Bonnie's show available on youtube (or elsewhere)? I'd love to see and hear the whole thing!

  • over the summer, i'll dig through the archives of the group and post more footage. i'll try to find that performance for you. it was a really good one, thanks! :)

  • Thank you so much! You are the best! I can tell even from the small snippet on "Bonnie" that it was a really special performance.

  • How wonderful.

You are doing amazing things by instilling the arts and self esteem in these children.

    They ARE our future.

Bravo for treating them as such!!! :)

    Great interview!

    Enjoy the money!

  • good to see some background info on these great kids & teacher!

  • ...Music, mentoring talented kids, a cup of coffee, a date (ha-ha), cash for the music program, a little pocket change, what more do you need! :)

  • somewhere nice and quiet to take a nap after a busy school year!

  • i've always wished i could be a music teacher myself, but i just couldnt be proficient enough with an instrument to be able to masterfully take on a class.

  • Thanks for posting this Mr.B, I am your number 1 fan in the UK. Did anyone else notice the lady asleep in the audience with the grey hair?! Check out the left hand side of the screen at 5:08

  • Lol.. how did you even notice that?? thats hilarious

  • haha lol thats just .. but really how did you notice :P

  • in the sleeping lady's defense, teaching IS an exhausting profession..... if i weren't on the hot seat, i would have been sleeping too.

  • She has to be taking notes or something.

  • She's writing something down actually, her hand is moving.

  • YAY FOR TEACHERS!

  • Good that he would go on a corporate/network-run show and be honest about some teachers, who are crappy. My one beef about these kind of shows is that they're all full of fake sentiment, fake emotions, fake "opinions." Happy, smiley! And when someone speaks the truth, the host is always nervous. Reminds me of TV news crap. Anyway, good that this teacher is teaching music/arts to kids, the program better not be cut. I've been watching his vids for awhile, and the performances are all great.

  • Whats up with Justin, Mr B? You mentioned once he would be auditioning for Disney (am I right?)

  • Justin omg...he has such a nice voice! 5:45 - 6:10 AND he wrote that song! Impressed! :)

  • I don't think anyone could have asked for anything more from you Mr.B.. You've been a driving force and have given my Son something that he will take with him and never forget. Great to know some one showed you such appreciation, its well deserved... !

  • loved it when it aired-- how awesome that they sent you a copy to post!

  • We need to honor more teachers that do such wonderful work as Mr. B. Love this piece. Way to go Bonnie!

  • wow congrats on the sweet check. i hope you really do spend it on yourself, you deserve it! :)

  • We know you do what you do because of the love and passion you have for teaching and music Mr. B. but you deserve that money wholeheartedly. This economy is crap right now and lots of people are struggling. There is no chance that anyone would want you to have to sacrifice what you love to do...for economic reasons.

Congrats on getting hit on by Bonnie too! ;-)

  • You are so cool. I appreciate the fact that you did not want to talk over your student. What an amazing example.

  • awesome you definately deserve it!

  • You are so charming! No wonder those kids are so marvelous!

  • congrats gregg! you deserve all of this! you and your kids!

  • This is brilliant!

  • Congrats Gregg! Your grade for this interview is A+ . You have cool gifted kids to mentor, a life of music, and now a date (Ha-Ha) along with 10K.. Your on lucky guy but the kids are just as lucky to have you as their teacher.

  • Yay!! Love it.

  • congratulations on getting to be on bonnie hunt and showing the world these kids amazing talent!

    i really appriciate it :)

  • Awesome!!
