  • Hello My name Is Martinica from the island of Martinica, Beautiful singing. I am in love with capoeira angola, please angoleiros keep sharing culture. Show this world how beautiful it is. The truth is.forgiveness is the key memory is the shield.

  • i would love to see the documentary

  • OMFG THIS IS NICE... I love the flow those two had during the whole RODA... Angola is my fav in a roda, but I'm in a contemperano academy, so we have angola and regional rodas plus a few others:) ty for upload.

  • they going slow :/

  • Beautiful Capoeira video, the intrigue and the thought that goes into an Angola game always astounds me. Capoeira Angola uses skill and agility to manoeuvre and trick your opponent into falling into a trap, tripping up or being taken down by (potentially) fatal strike. This kind of integrity is lost in the flashy egocentric showmanship of Regional.

  • This looks a lot more intricate than any of the other capoeira videos i have seen before. There is an Angola chapter in my hometown I'm going to dip in this week!

I especially appreciate the musical aspect in this video!

  • do you guys know ivan, he taught me some angola moves out here in arizona he works at the y around thunderbird ave

  • lindo genial

  • It looks like the documentary is going to still be in production though most of 2009. That's 3 years in the making. Though I wish it was done now, I'd rather it was done right. I'm working on the stories to accompany the interviews, and they weren't easy to find and will take a while and alot of traveling to complete. Thanks for your patients all, I'm doing my best to make sure it is worth the wait.

  • When is the video going to be ready?

  • Love your singing BTW. It's still in work, I've gone though some good critiques on a short of it from Tribecca judges and another great D.P. On their feedback, I am working on a "story" within the doc, the filming *may* be done in Sept, editing then for another 6-8 months.. unless the story doesn't work.. then it's any ones guess. About 95% interviews and events done, just need a good story, I really want to finish, but will only do stop when I have a great doc. Over 2 years and counting ;-)

  • JOAO

  • roda boa!! me like the jodo de angola, the rythm is totally fantastic, good movie

  • Great video...I´m Brazilian and I always stare at João Grande and his student´s capoeira.

    Have a nice week ;)

  • Thanks! This was a real honor to film.

  • Thanks for posting this one. Its always good to see Mestre Joao Grande's smile. Will have to pay a visit to the center.

  • Thank you.. we got some film of M Joao Grande in Salvador too along with lots of others during carnival in early Feb 2008. Still hard at work on the doc, probably be toward the end of 2008 early 2009 as we will probably still be filming into summer.

  • sem palavras(no words)!!!!!!

  • Cá entre nós: João Grande é João Grande!

  • ugghh... would love to see more footage of Mestre Joao Grande -- this wasn't enough. is the documentary available?

  • The target date is the summer of 2008.. I've traveled to about 12 states on both coasts and interviewed literally dozens of mestres/CM/professors, its primarily about capoeira spreading in the US, and is aimed at a general audience, to promote, explain the game, and trace the history, and the history since it came to the US.. Tentatively titled "That Brazilian Dance Fight Thing: Capoeira in America".. As most Americans haven't got a clue what capoeira is.. About 2 year in the making.

  • the singer is marcos!

  • What is the song they sing here?

  • "O nega que vende ai?" is the name of the song..find it here. try capoeirista dotcom for all the lyrics

  • Muito obrigado e respeito,camara!

  • o i understand now i just saw sorry next to your comments and read it out of context...but still we all know the caliber of practitionares that come from Joao grande center so i think everyone would of took it for what its worth without you mentioning good or bad players

  • I think that was bad move on your part to declare these practitionares as not good players...but besides that i enjoyed the docu

  • I didn't say that, I said there were so many good players that I really couldn't fit them into a 5 minute clip.

  • Good energy. Who's the singer here?

  • nice video, nice editing

  • nice video man! joao grande is great!
