@malakelhusseiny Thanks for the kind words, though if the original means Woody himself, I must demur: he had an unbeatable ability to sing a song without any affectation, so he always remains the best. Still, your encouragement is part of what keeps me going.
Well I know this is blasphemy but I just listened to Woody's then Bruce Springsteen's versions of this song and I like yours even more. Great guitar and soulful voice.
Hi folksinger, I've got the open D tuning now, sounds nice. I like to play around with it and see what sounds good and where. Your video 'I ain't got no home' has shown me a few things. But the angle of the camera hides things too. Have you got a vid showing a straight on view so I can see more and get some of those chords that work up and down the fret board. Thanks if you have.. Thanks if you ain't. I like to checkout your choice of songs too.
Hi, I'm just discovering the delights of this beautiful and soulful music and your vid is a great thing to watch and copy (may take a while). Great voice! ..and song. I read that it's open tuning in D? but not sure how this works, can you help? Barney
hey man this is your best song ive heard yet from......also your comments you seem to have quite a story to tell ever think about makin a video or two just to tell it
I'm guessing a majority would rather see the strings than my face. But after this, once in a while, I'll lean in a bit. Thanks for the stars, as that encourages an old guy like me.
You play beautifully. I heard you'er in Egypt. Stay safe, and stay at peace. I know it's hard these days but it's the only way.

Absolutely great. Got that authentic dustbowl sound. Yeehaaarrr!! Itd be good to see your face as well.

Most people prefer seeing the guitar. But the face does appear on some other videos. Thanks for the interest in both.

Check my earlier Open D videos, like TheFolksinger's Fingerstyle Guitar Lesson in Open D, and Who's Gonna Shoe Your Pretty Feet. Hope they help.

Check my earlier videos. One of them entitled Open D explains the tuning before I play the song One Guitar. Thanks for the comments.

Very nice indeed - open tuning in D?
BeJi74 3 years ago
Yes, much as in my earlier video explaining open D and singing "One Guitar"
TheFolksinger 3 years ago
Fantastic voice, and a very good interpretation of this song. Not sure about the shirt though! ;-)

The Irish had a lot to do with that, as of course so many working people who came to America with big dreams, not all of which came true.

I think you're clear enough when we can see your face and the guitar.
Other folks may disagree.
