"Smoke On The Water" may be one of the most recognized songs of the last century, but it doesn't hold a candle to this song or half of the other tracks on Machine Head.
... You youngsters are amusing,(lol) how would you like to be 14yrs old and hear this THE FIRST WEEK IT CAME OUT, ORIGINALLY...???Back in the early 70's , These bands did something then that had never been done before by doing this, and Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin led the way, right up front, when I 1st heard this album on an ACTUAL ALBUM 33 vinyl.., the day after it came out orig., & it's still MONS

@9backinblack Dude! Ian Paice simply rocks the universe with his talented percussive ideas!! No shit, dude! I mean, oh my God, like he is too much, like...head rush!! HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA! But seriously, dude...
Who couldn't love this band? I mean they're genius, comapred to Justin Bieber! There's alot of just horrible music now-a-days. This, however, is an example of purely awesome music.
@GaaraTurnedAussie No shit, we know this. You don't have to say anything. I don't think about Justin Bbiber while rockin out to Deep Purple. Just forget about him.
@GaaraTurnedAussie No shit we already knows this, you don't have to say anything. Don't even bring him up, people don't want to think about him while rockin' out to Deep Purple.
@GaaraTurnedAussie Agreed, but whilst there are idiots in charge of the music industry they will always promote the 'ever so nice' singers of reality TV shows etc. If you have any originality, it tends to be frowned on by those in control - time for the punters to stand up and demand real music be brought back even if it upsets the poppets (or puppets) like Cowell. We decide what we like, nobody else - this is not the USSR!
Exactly. The music industry has become so centralized, and that's by far the biggest problem. The good news is that the internet is making recording your own shit easier and easier, so it doesn't need to be funneled through the opinions of rich music executives. Also, Clear Channel has lost hundreds of stations within the last 5 years! The RIAA is becoming irrelevant quickly, and MTV has no control over music anymore, so things can only get better I think...
@VegitoVai90 Let's hope so - I see Quo's new album went straight in at number 10 in the UK charts despite no or limited airplay from commercial radio and no TV advertising. People are voting with their feet and rock is back big time!
Dude, there was a lot of awful music in the 70's too (come on, disco!?). The only difference between then and now is that back then you could actually find good music being promoted on the radio or TV. Now? You need to dig into the depths of the 'net to find good modern music, as the mainstream is 98% garbage. Other than that, though, it's not all different other technological and creative advances.
I just hope that kids now and after are given the gift of Richie and ALL HIS BANDS.
