Every time producers promise accuracy the result is even more insulting to everyone who knows history at least a little bit. @claudefrollono1 I believe the Tacitus describes Thumelcus as a gladiator and that he met his demise in the arena. It is written Thusnelda and her son finished their life in Rome. Arminius never met his son at least according to Roman historians. There is not one record of mention of Arminius's life as a child, teenager, even his record as a Cavalry commander is not documented. Only that he was highly decorated. If Arminius was a Roman hostage or grew up in Germania, it will be conjecture.
@Danorowski You are right that is not period, but you would be amazed at the stone-work fortifications the Romans made. There are solid stone forts all along the eastern frontier that stand to this day that are square, have towers and classic rampart castle look of the middle ages. Where do you think they came up with the designs in the middle ages for castles. I bet is from the Roman forts made of stone. Just look at Hadrians Wall. That looks right out of a King Arthur story.
@ClintGlenn I know all about Roman fortifications, but Arminius lived short time before the birth of Christ, about 120 years before Hadrian was born, and you're also right that the design of Medieval castles came from Roman fortifications, but before Romans had these kinds of fortifications, another 200-300 years had to pass.

I chose pieces from other films and HBO's Rome that are in the same genre. I simple want more stuff out there in the Swords and Sandals realm. I wanted it to be a homage to the classic films and mineseries like Spartacus, Ben Hur, Rome, I Claudius. The ultimate goal is a film or cable series about Arminius. Thanks!

@robbieatvic Please tell me how history was changed? Arminius did not die of poison. He died in AD 19 at the age of 37. 9 years after his victory over the Romans. There are accounts of a Germanic chief offering to poison Arminius but the Romans refused saying they defeat their enemies with honor. And you are correct, the building of the earth, stone and wood palisade hidden in the forest is the pinnacle of the ending battle in the Novel Arminius. Thank you.
@robbieatvic There is no first hand historical account of how exactly Arminius died. Only that it was by the hand of his family—which one can only assume the cause and who did it. Anytime someone writes about history they have to use dramatic license because the whole narrative is never there in the first hand sources. And the wall was over a mile long and was 6-10 feet high in some places. It was a massive earth work where at least 7 thousand men stood behind.

history was never so theatrical, there was no love story, arminius father was not killed by the romans, they never "striked as one" , the german tribe warriors were not well armed like you can see it here, the weapons you see herar are 1) not german weapons, 2) not even from that historical period 3) they never had angel-saxon shields and helmets, he did not "drive the romans past the rhine". and what are these celtic people are doing in this trailer???

You are right on Arminius's Father, but some accounts do not mention him. Arminius united 7 tribes to attack the Romans. They were waring tribes before and after they divided. Much of the arms and armor are dead wrong here, but Germans were an iron age people. Not in stone age. Ger-man mean Spear Man.

@ClintGlenn Arminius was the son of a Germanic chieftain taken hostage back to Rome from Germany to ensure his tribe's obedience. It was done so frequently during the conquest of ancient Germania that is was almost tradition.
@jackkedrabbit What first hand source do you get this from? It is not in Tacitus which is the main source for reliable Arminius history. I dispute that Arminius spent his youth in Rome. My gut and research tell me he lived a hard life in Germania as a tribal warrior, joined the auxiliary, won battle fame, and then so impressed the Romans they made him a Knight, citizen, and trusted ally. The tribal warriors would not have followed him if he was a pampered Royal Roman hostage from his youth.

You are right on Arminius's Father, but some accounts do not mention him. Arminius united 7 tribes to attack the Romans. They were waring tribes before and after they divided. Much of the arms and armor are dead wrong here, but Germans were an iron age people. Not in stone age. Ger-man mean Spear Man.

@jackkedrabbit What first hand source do you get this from? It is not in Tacitus which is the main source for reliable Arminius history. I dispute that Arminius spent his youth in Rome. My gut and research tell me he lived a hard life in Germania as a tribal warrior, joined the auxiliary, won battle fame, and then so impressed the Romans they made him a Knight, citizen, and trusted ally. The tribal warriors would not have followed him if he was a pampered Royal Roman hostage from his youth.
