In real elections, all ballots are manually and transparently tabulated (not just counted) at each voting precinct in full public view. In addition, legitimate elections have instant-runoff voting (IRV), accessible public financing, balanced media coverage, real debates, and enforcement of anti-bribery and anti-terrorism laws. Write and number your choices on a paper ballot, and if the elections are not legitimate, have your law enforcement employees arrest unelected politicians and their pimps.
This is disturbing, but sometimes in these type of investigation videos... the questioners are asking people who really may not know the whole story. The "pawns."
But if I were a pawn and questioned like this I would ask the questioner to ask whatever person had the answer or responsibility and I might even offer to inform the responsible party that this person wanted to question him or her. No problem. The response from the Secretary of state makes me think there was some skull duggery going on. They look and act guilty of something.

However, you will not be held accountable - because government is run by 'hide-outs' just like you. Did it ever cross your mind to just say "This is an unacceptable mess; it is, ultimately, my responsibility and I will see that it never happens again. Your concerns are justified." Truth in Government - a real oxymoron.
While the video raises many concerns, having put a few stickers on boxes myself I think that the limp-wristed test they performed was not valid. You can even see in the bottom left corner that the sticker was not pushed on very hard and is not flush with the box. Even a Post-It note will be completely flush with whatever it is stuck to.
More tests were done - both with the seal they affixed to the door, which two different citizens lifted up - no goop - and reaffixed, and with a live ballot box. Tamper-evident seals are sold and are inexpensive. They didn't use them. Case closed.
If our government can put a man on the moon, they can come up with a seal that cannot be tampered with without damage to the seal or to the box. It's evident that the seals were easily lifted without any damage. And many damaged boxes had perfectly fine seals. This is too fishy to discount. I am usually last to say theres a conspiracy, but something smells rotten in Denmark (New Hampshire).
It is not like we were not warned by our founding fathers. The baby boomers chose to be apathetic in politics and allowed tyrany to take hold. did you notice the duct tape on the first box she was examining? when the box was sent to the precinct it appeared to be sealed with brown packing tape. then it was repacked and sealed with duct tape and the state seal. then it was cut horizontally and slightly torn vertically like someone had jammed their arm in the box but the rest of the duct tape was still intact proving that the box had been last sealed with duct tape and then cut open

The prosecuting entity is the state attorney general, who is the designated defense attorney for the secretary of state and thus cannot bring charges against him.

Here in East Haven, CT we've just elected our youngest mayor and first woman ever, but only aftar a manual recount of paper ballots.
We have a new system in Conn. that seemed to work flawlessly, paper ballots that are scanned into a machine that produces electronic results that CAN BE CHECKED if need be.
In our case the difference in about 60,000 votes was a victory of 25 votes in the recount vs. 21 votes in the first electronic count.
Actually, you use the hackable Diebold optical scans in Connecticut, and CT law does not permit the ballots to be counted by hand unless the candidates are within a close margin. The same firm that programs New Hampshire memory cards programs CT and Massachusetts.
Let's think this through. The New Hampshire recount is a 100% manual count. And yet...do you trust it? Take nothing for granted. Believe nothing you are told. Go. Look. Question. Check for yourself that the answers you are told are correct. "Trust me" elections need to go the way of the dinosaur.

Two rules to remember when asking questions that might imply guilt on the part of the person being interviewed:
1. When a person avoids answering the question or hesitates for a long period, they are trying to hide something.
2. When a person takes a defensive stance when asked a simple, direct question; they are guilty of something.
The officials that Beth interviewes in this documentary did both. Not one of them answered her direct questions.

This is really pretty easy to fix, but it would require that we americans stop being so irresponsible and LAZY and actually participate in our system.
We've elected the "lesser of two evils" so many times and they have done so much wrong, including passing the "help america vote act" that we deserve what we are getting.
The problem is, our children don't. WE MUST GO BACK TO A PAPER BALLOT. Computers can be tinkered with by one person, paper ballot fixing takes 100's if not 1000's of people

I hope you will get this to Bev. I work with tape and it will not stick below about 50 degrees, the temerature that paint won't work properly either. As such the "seal" is possibley ridiculous as New Hampshire is a cold state. I can't imagine how you could actually seal a ballot box.

- Each precinct has a table that holds a huge stack of multi-colored sticky notes.
- Each voter, after officially voting,takes a sticky note, puts a 'mark' on both left and right side(a unique symbol).
- Who they voted for is placed on both sides.
_ An unbroken line is squiggled across the blank side.
- The note is then torn in half, across the squiggle, and one half is slipped into a slotted box.
_ The voter keeps his half in a safe place.

did you notice the duct tape on the first box she was examining? when the box was sent to the precinct it appeared to be sealed with brown packing tape. then it was repacked and sealed with duct tape and the state seal. then it was cut horizontally and slightly torn vertically like someone had jammed their arm in the box but the rest of the duct tape was still intact proving that the box had been last sealed with duct tape and then cut open

In fact I agree with you -- pushing through this on the local level has the speediest potential for real change. There is a roadblock at the state level. The prosecuting entity is the state attorney general, who is the designated defense attorney for the secretary of state and thus cannot bring charges against him.

I love how you manage to be insistent without being hostile to these people. If the interviewer becomes hostile in these types of scenarios, the person being questioned seems more justified in dismissing the question and is let off the hook too easily. With your calm and collected approach, they have no excuse for evading your questions, and their feet are held to the fire. Great work!

I doubt that. Think there will be history? When I visited the library where I went to college, there were two massive rooms of empty bookshelves. The books had been put in storage and the reference materials had been converted to computer data files. A nice feature, but some of the data was missing.

Here in East Haven, CT we've just elected our youngest mayor and first woman ever, but only aftar a manual recount of paper ballots.
We have a new system in Conn. that seemed to work flawlessly, paper ballots that are scanned into a machine that produces electronic results that CAN BE CHECKED if need be.
In our case the difference in about 60,000 votes was a victory of 25 votes in the recount vs. 21 votes in the first electronic count.

Actually, you use the hackable Diebold optical scans in Connecticut, and CT law does not permit the ballots to be counted by hand unless the candidates are within a close margin. The same firm that programs New Hampshire memory cards programs CT and Massachusetts.

Let's think this through. The New Hampshire recount is a 100% manual count. And yet...do you trust it? Take nothing for granted. Believe nothing you are told. Go. Look. Question. Check for yourself that the answers you are told are correct. "Trust me" elections need to go the way of the dinosaur.
