Everyone believes in something, even atheists. Forces greater than us, the reality we live in. No one believes in nothing, as atheists tend to claim. I believe even though religions are obviously not based in reality they do express the same feelings expressed by Al Kalili; more specifically the beauty of reality. So to brush aside thousands of years of creative expression of this beauty as if it is worth less than the paper it's printed on is arrogant. One must appreciate religion.

It's beyond debate that our modles about the universe today are as primative as their ideas were back then compared to how they will be in the future but we are far closer but we have a long way to go and there will be countless new systems for assesing the phsyical world.

Chemistry is a fascinating subject; when I look back on my schooldays and remember how our chemistry teacher only let us do ONE classroom experiment in 2 years of study! (he did one himself but only rarely ) although he had a well-equipped lab. I feel angry that he did so little to show us the marvels of chemistry and the reality behind his endless equations.
