  • gah! why must all the cool animals go extinct?

  • Comment removed

  • sumo resling at 1:44

  • @zandian08 Duh. They used a time-machine to travel back hundreds of thousands of years. Obviously.

  • @makikihustle oh sure they did have time travel if they did i would travel back time and shut that mouth of yours

  • @zandian08 Lame.

  • @zandian08 that makes sense!

  • who made that sound at 1:41

  • this is exactly like line prides!

  • anyone notice Half Tooth's teeth switch sides

  • @JackassJunior627

    i did.

  • Low and behold, modern science. Meld the behavior of Lions, with a slight look and feel of hyena clans, add sabers and teach it as fact. They've even placed it in a grassy african landscape- I guess it sales better that way. Nevermind the fact that every indication suggests smilodon was more like the lynx genus than anything.

  • is far from friendly feline with enormus gnashers

  • awesome! =D

  • cooolllllllllllll

  • I'd really like to find the evidence that points to smilodon living in groups like lions, especially since most cats are very anti-social in that respect. (Im not doubting it, but I would love to read the research on it)

  • @lost2darkness skeletons of seriously injured smilidons with certian stress fractures that had healed(such as shin fractures)that would have probably meant death to a solitary animal have been discovered. this suggests they were in some way helped by other animals to survive whilst crippled -they wouldnt have been able to run after prey for instance-indicating living in goups.

  • U ddnt show the whole thing half tooth came back and became leader by beating the brothers(no seriously ive seen this episode b4)

  • verygood

  • Prehistoric Predators claims that the Smilodon Fatalis's sabre teeth were proned to breaking, if used incorrectly such as being shook from side to side while grabbing prey or prehaps even in battle with another sabre tooth. Considering the teeth were fragile when used in a fight or hunting prey and could easily lose a tooth, saying that they couldn't survive without one is like saying without the Christian Chuch we'd all die. This is only a simulator of what they MAY have looked like by the way.

  • @Zalariah they werent used in the same way as a lions, one way you can tell this is from the skeleton-it was built literally like a bear in terms of the bone structure and strength. considering the prey it would hunt and the build of the animal, it would have most likely wrestled its prey to the ground and used the teeth to almost instantly kill its prey by driving them into its neck once the target was subdued. wear and tear on skeletons is consistent with this sort of behaviour.

  • they still exist,ur morons !!!!!.....i am the owner of 4 of em.....not easy to feed them, but as long as there are enough chinese .......heheheheheh

  • These Smilodons are so unrealistic. First off, they're barely furry, look more like big dogs and , in reality, if a big cat breaks teeth, it's a near 100 percent death sentence.

  • @Psythr666 Very few big cats are legitimately furry (the exception being a male lion due to it's mane) Smilodon physiology was similar to that of big dogs too.

By the way, a sabre-toothed cat's teeth weren't the only teeth it had. I could still survive with just one sabre tooth.

  • I really liked this reconstruction of Smilodon's life although it probably wasn't the way they really lived. The pride system was based on modern lions. Males are bigger and stronger than females so they take over a pride and protect it whereas females hunt. In Smilodon, there's no evdence of sexual dimorphism so they probably didn't live in prides. There is, on the other hand, lot's of evidence that they lived and hunted in packs.

  • @Pssybart Most likely they lived a similar life to that of Asiatic Lions in small groups of about 3 or 4 siblings.

  • smilodon came in different varieties.

  • This episode had one major lie-- Smilodon didn't cause the extinction of the terror birds in south america. In fact, they were already gone by the time saber-toothed cats arrived from north america.. THis whole series blatantly lied about several aspects of evolution... It had some neat animation though.. But they seemed to have purposely left out various species.. and didn't put feathery integument on the dromaeosaurids.. Regardless, I'm tired of TV bullshitting. lol

  • @mmmmmarcus tv always bullshit about documentaries

@joedange2007 yes you shitface it said smilodon in the fucking video name what edo yu espect fucking fake shit lieing to peopole

  • @TheYummyPokemon

maybe im missing something because i dont follow you. you do realise those things became extinct like 10,000 years ago right? and you were expecting a real video of them? jackass

  • wtf this is fake

  • @TheYummyPokemon

were you expecting a real video of saber tooth tigers? lmao

  • lol at the start the right tooth has gone and at the end its the left :)

  • Can I just say CONTINUITY!!!! When half tooth is introduced the broken tooth is on his right (our left) later on its on his left (our right).

  • SMILE-odon

  • half-tooth later married big tooth and had quarter-tooth cubs

  • Where did they live? Were there many Smilodon around the world?

  • @edusideoli71 this story of the BBD with the Smilodons takes place in paraguay 1 million years ago :)

  • @edusideoli71 They lived in North and South America, they lived at the beginning of the early Pleistocene which was about 1.6million years ago and died out about 10,000 years ago. The Smilodon stood about 4ft at the shoulder, just over 8ft in length and the largest individuals possibly weighed over 500kg or about (1,100 lbs.) It was about 2ft shorter than a modern day male African Lion, but it weighed twice as much.

  • Why does Halftooth have a broken tooth on the right side in the beginning but then on the left side later on???

  • I have a smilodon computer :P

  • did smilodon had a short mane? ( males of course) cause thats what i see in dis vid cause on nat geo they presented the saber tooth cat without it

  • Halftooth was awesome! I hate those brothers! It was good to see that Halftooth kicked their asses later!

  • yeah the first one wasnt a fair fight

  • there is a game called wolf quest u can play as the wolf kinda fun

  • @sesame297 where is this game

  • according to my knowledge, tigers evolved from smilodon fatalis and smilodon populater, coz there were'nt any tigers alive when smilodons lived.

this computerised image of smilodon populater is inaccurate, coz smilodon populater was very fat and musculer and looked more like a bear.

  • @DIRTYMAN000

lol, believe me - there were tigers around when s.fatalis, s.populator lived. Tigers have been around for about 1,5 million years (when they share a common ancestor witch lions, I think). S.Fatalis went extinct about 10 000 years ago. The Panthera and the Smilodon genus are considered wery distant cousins

  • Tigers evolved in Asia, otjher panthera in Africa and Europe. Smilodon lived only in the Americas. Smilodons ancestors, Homotherium and Machairodont, lived on all the continents except Australia and Antarctica.

There is a phylogenic tree in text form in wikipedia, "Felidae".

  • has anyone else noticed that in comments that when someone gives factual information they mark it as a bad comment???

  • if only there was a game where you could be a Smilodon or any other carnivorous prehistoric predator

  • Comment removed

  • smilodon is not a tiger!

  • it's a lycan °_°

  • What I find ridiculous is how the females retreat because "their only concern is to protect their offpsring." Yeah, but if Halftooth looses the fight, the new ruling cats will take over and kill their offspring; then get them pregnant with their own. That's what Halftooth did 3 years before right? C'mon ladies, think ahead!

  • I had to do that with my new wife, She was previously married and had three young kids. So naturally I killed all the kids and impregnated her myself

  • ive seened this movey like years ago it was real cool and it still is

  • I wish these animal's were still alive today if they were they would be my favorite big cat my favorite is lion's closly followed by tiger's.

  • are they gona make series 2 ?

  • there the size of modern day lions.

  • smillodon populator was bigger , more muscular , resembled a bear from his built.

  • Smilodon were much, much bigger. Bones found in tar pits showed they stood up to 6ft at the shoulder and weighed around 600kg.

  • I don't think so. The largest cat was Machairodus coloradensis, 1.2 meters tall at the shoulder.

  • @puncheex the largest was american lion

  • Could have been. It is difficult to compare them. It was apparently the longest of cats, and the most massive of the lions.

  • @puncheex it is the largest

  • the largest cat is smilodon populator of course!

    up to 480 kg

and 5 ft at the shoulder

  • Man, I'm out of this cat-love fest. :)

  • @The2010Predator1 I think that part goes to the exttinct cave lion or the siberian tiger

  • @pcbb01

No, Im sure about that 100%

write (( Smilodon Hercules )) on google images

  • @pcbb01

No siberian tigers are smaller (320kg) and the same thing for cave lion

Im talking about Smilodon Populator not Smilodon Fatalis

I saw a skull on the enternet for smilodon populator and it was 39cm long

  • good thing there not around now

  • hahah

  • oh damn

  • pussy ran!

  • how the F*** do they film those pics its kool but strand? lol

  • IF they lived today we was like 40% of ppl died lol!

  • Halftooth's broken tooth changed places!! at the beginning it was on his right, then it changed and went to its left!!

  • SMILE!...odon.

  • uh, no

  • No way, they died out a long time ago...

  • No, they don't exist anymore...They became extinct about 10,000 years ago.

  • @knightscum07 ya, partly because of humans

  • @knightscum07 lol yea i looked this up because i'm watching 10,000 bc :-)

  • @knightscum07 there is a cat like smiladon its like a mini version of the smiladon its the Lynx species tho alot of the Lynx species are in dangered :/. the Iberian Lynx is criticly in dangered and if it dies out it would be the first feline extinction since the Smilodon which would be sad becouse i like the cat family

  • @kikiamkikiam Oh yea, you can see them in Africa.

How could you think they're still alive. Dude, seriously..

  • @kikiamkikiam actually there have been sightings in south America for a few decades now but nothing confirmed

  • @kikiamkikiam hehe

  • @kikiamkikiam yes. I have a pet smilodon at home. He's called banana-tooth.

  • @OlaCola03 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahhahaahhahaah banana tooth hahahahahahah lol ur funny
