It was hated because: for the enemy it was a truly horrific death getting torched by flaming gassoline and by the user: not because if you got shot in the tank if would explode but for these reasons. Crud range is #1. the fact that it's heavy and you can barely run is #2 and it attracts so much attention that if you were to kill or clear a bunker you would be picked of immediately by snipers.
