TIP: start out with just practicing the rythms without dancing once you become good at the rythms then u can put them together or else it doesnt sound good and it sounds mixed together....gud luck:]
Hey...start with the easiest pattern first, 1-2-3, 1-2-3. then from there, that is when you can branch off into different patterns. during the time that you are practicing 1-2-3, try walking and traveling when you are playing. then next best pattern to learn after you have mastered 1-2-3 is 1-23, 1-2-3-4-5, 1-2-3-4-5, 1-2-3..... that is the next best pattern to learn. Keep it up! :)

There's actually a series of videos here on youtube which you'll find helpful called "finger cymbals, basic patterns for beginners", by DanceEternal. There are about five so far, and the instruction is DVD worthy. They'll help you learn and practice zill patterns. Good luck!

You are also trying to do too many body layering movements before learning basic rythym. Start with walking to 123, amking sure you are hip lifting, or stepping to the downbeat or the 3. Also put on some music and play your gallop to the music. Make sure you practise WALKING, and travelling.
For better sounding zills, like especially having a nice loud ring or reverb, hold your thumb and third finger farther apart, almost like your hands are flat. :)

dont click them together so hard...tap the sides very gently, dont clap them. try practising without moving first...its hard that way. play try this...left left right right left left...to the beat of arabic music.
try buying a zills instructional video for help. or find a bellydance teacher to help u. u have potential, but for now u really need an instructor to help u out.
