  • I WAS THERE, A 14-YEAR OLD And my two friends. Thumbed up from Cape Cod. Grabbed more than 100 stubs from a barrel near the end zone as we departed. Then Harvard recovered fumble. Guard refused to re-admit those without a stub, so we sold about 80 stubs for $2 each. Then went back in and watched Crimson "win." We're on the edge of the end zone in the film. Left and ate at Locke-Ober. Told the maitre'd our fathers told us to meet them. Great meal. Great memory.

  • back when they played actual football

  • I just read the synopsis on the Kino website - says that Frank Champi was unknown, even to his teammates. Sorry, not true. Frank was a highly recruited high school quarterback at Everett High, outside Boston. Pete Varney was from North Qunicy high and played against Champi's state championship Everett team. Champi was the qb on a high school team that also NEVER lost a game in his h.s. career, same as Dowling. Irony, on Everett's power sweeps, Champi used to be lead blocker. Bad-ass guy.
