@NathanH97 Unfortunately we’re not being allowed to perform like soldiers but are limited to being mere policemen. So many protocols before being able to return fire. If we were allowed to actually be soldiers then the ‘war’ in Afghanistan would be over in a month.

@silverarrowslk Those restrictions are in place because it's almost impossible to determine civilians from insurgents, particularly in urban sectors. Unless your plan involves genocide, there's really no quickfire way to end it. The same situation plagued U.S. forces in Vietnam. This isn't conventional warfare, the combat lines aren't drawn out in fronts. Remember what the Afghans did to the Russians? It was a war of attrition. The insurgents can fight forever, Coalition forces have a timeline.
@IDFPleonexia The Russians could have won that but because of the current general that was commanding they where going far to soft on them if the other commanders had there way gas and thermobaric munitions would have been used and if they where the Russian could have easily won.
@yaik7a No, they couldn't have. What you people don't seem to understand is that the Taliban doesn't fight a regular guerrilla war. They have time, they have lots of hiding places and because of the Soviet invasion, they also have U.S. supplied modern weaponry and they aren't afraid to utilize those advantages. The only way to win is to win the hearts of the people so that the insurgents have no place to hide. Barring that, victory is essentially an impossible concept.

@ryanbednarik Well think about it... The guns were acurate to about 50 yards and deadly to about 125 so really you wont hit a specific target if you aim... you have to mass the fire power snd then you are bound to hit something. Although it works best in long thin lines.
Bear in mind the muskets were only accurate up to around 60 meters, maybe 100 with rifling. It's difficult to reload a muzzle loader from prone, and the smoke would give your postition away anyway if you were hiding. also, with one shot at a time and a ~30 second reload time, their muskets weren't terribly good for covering fire or fire and manuever either.

It may be a dumb tactic, but at least it had more guts than running around hiding from the foe and shooting at their most vulnerable or high ranking targets. It was honourable to fight in those days, you knew who was shooting at you and where from, these days it could be anyone from anywhere and you wouldn't even be given the chance to fire in return... sucks really :/

@ryanbednarik Well think about it... The guns were acurate to about 50 yards and deadly to about 125 so really you wont hit a specific target if you aim... you have to mass the fire power snd then you are bound to hit something. Although it works best in long thin lines.

Bear in mind the muskets were only accurate up to around 60 meters, maybe 100 with rifling. It's difficult to reload a muzzle loader from prone, and the smoke would give your postition away anyway if you were hiding. also, with one shot at a time and a ~30 second reload time, their muskets weren't terribly good for covering fire or fire and manuever either.

Still the best army in the World even though they are not the best equiped. I think we would have kicked the wermacht all over Europe if we had been arming up to the same degree as they were just before WW2. Superb!! :-)

@silverarrowslk Well at least the British Drums during the American Revolution Periode seem to have been almos exclusively been fitted wth calfskin, and catgut snares, with Snare Tensioners of varying Constructions. and The Sound Difference between Snare and no-Snare is tremendous. A Snare is also much better suited for communicating orders over a Battlefield.

America had are French allies, and our Spanish allies. the French and the Brits always hated eachother, and I think that The Spanish were pretty pissed off about Admiral George Anson stealing all of that silver from the Manila Galleons. It was the shear size of America and the fact that it was the most powerful industrialised nation on earth that ensured that once it was fully mobilised, the war in Europe and the Pacific was going to be won eventually. Churchill knew this and courted Roosevelt like a woman prior to Pearl Harbour to get Destroyers, Lend Lease etc Also, Mein Kampf is a terrible read. I'll stick with Churchill's works.
