@39supers39 Research is certaintly NOT everything. Sometimes you just have to get on and go with it. Most of the time the horse will tell you EXACTLY how it wants to be ridden. No "research" needed. Real riders don't need to read a bunch of books to read a horse. Not saying they dont help but the best person to learn from is yourself and the horse your riding.

Horses like to do this. If they didn't they wouldn't. They are a lot stronger than us so they could easily refuse to do something if they didn't want to. And if they were afraid if getting hurt they would hurt us first. I have learned this from personal experience with my old pony.

@akanewe sorry but my horses LOVES his work, so much that when i hold up his bridle he puts the bit in himself..he also loves dressage! if riders treatr there horses bad they get bad mouths,most dressage riders andother equestrian riders treat there horses problems so if they have a sore mouth they sort it out so no most horses dont have messed up mouths in the dressage division,only if the rider allows it to happen,rant over:)
last friday at my jumping lesson my horse (or the horse I was riding) kept stoping at a jump, I eventually fell off. But I got right up again :D I have seen many riders at my riding school just not getting up after falling of, even when troting, so this made me proud, and suddenly I remembered why this sport stands out. Yes..the point of this comment, I guess is the same as this video. We Equestrians have something special :D

@akanewe my horse loves competing, he always had, i struggle to hold him at shows he gets so excited, and he is very showy when he is in a new place with lots of other horses. And he adores jumping but we don't compete show jumping because he is arthritic from his racing career. He is not my slave, i am his slave, i make his tea clean his bed give him water and wrap him up warm lol he has a really good life as do most horses.

riding takes more skill, determination, heart, strength, mind, and patience then any other sport that I know of.This video is 100% true. and people laugh when I say it is a sport. Well, now they agree with me... >:) lol.Its not only a sport, its my life.

noooo equestrians are THE ONLY SPORT IN THE WORLD---football--run around and kick a ball. That other football--throw around a ball and run. Basketball--throwing and passing a giant bouncey ball. swimming--batting your arms and legs in the water. Whilst equestrian--trying to stay on--5 hours of training to get a small thing right--countless hours of pain when you fall--trying to keep control of the horse--not knowing what is going to happen--having a passion for what you sit on and respect for it

@DeathKitty123456 No, we can't be mad at that. Some of us have played Am. football, rugby and many more sports. Some of us also own and love our horses yet will never make them compete for us. Many of you name sports PEOPLE decide to play, in your sport only you decide to make the other one go. Yet you KNOW that he would rather not compete for you. I know that even I force horses to take my taming and my pleasure riding, quite far from forceful competition though.GD LK & pls be good to them.

@akanewe my horse loves competing, he always had, i struggle to hold him at shows he gets so excited, and he is very showy when he is in a new place with lots of other horses. And he adores jumping but we don't compete show jumping because he is arthritic from his racing career. He is not my slave, i am his slave, i make his tea clean his bed give him water and wrap him up warm lol he has a really good life as do most horses.

You like horses and riding them?go for hrs out in your countryside and have fun, but no it's something else. @halfwolf266 well but how do you want other sports and people to respect equestrian if you don't respect them? equestrian is not the only sport that exists, it may be the better in my opinion, but it doesn't mean that the other sports deserve any less respect then equestrian.
And i do not say this becouse i dislike horses or riding, actually i love horses, they are my life but still i respect the peolple that like other sports! and other sports too!!

this is so true! Most people say its not a sport but it is! They just dont get the full affect of what its like.. I'd like them to try to jump or do dressage at the level some people do!
