tmoorefarms needs to get a life i work for them full time the closest thing he has done work wise is bring me dinner to the field, and it is more around 49,000 and it isnt half rent half owned and they are 595R's to be just exact on it
this fall we ran one 12 row and the neighbors ran three 8 rows...all 9770sts machines, and we were combining 9 semi loads for every 12 of theirs...so you do the math
if your asking my opinion, I think the four with smaller heads would cover more ground than 2 bigger. ground speed should be much higher with 8 row heads
how so??? If you got 4 combines all with eight row heads going 5mph it would be the same with 2 combines with 16 row heads going 2.5mph. And i helped a local farming out this fall running a lexion 590r with a 16 row head and they were running 3.5-4mph with virtually no loss. I would think less fewer combines would be fewer headaches, less fuel, and lower costs with the same productivity.
If you have 4 eight row machines going 5 mph, that would be the same as 2 sixteen row going 5 mph. plus if one big machine breaks down, you lose half of your capacity, while if one of four breaks, you only lose 25%. I would also think a 16 row combine would likely sit because its full more often.
i had my mph mixed up yes the 2 16 row heads would have to go 5mph to equal 4 eight row cmbines going 5mph. And as far as a 16 row combine sitting more it would be no different having twice as many combines, you have twice as much to keep up with. If anything 2 16 rows heads should be sitting less often because the cart drivers wouldnt have to do as much running around. I think the cost savings would be substantial with only 2 combines vs 4 combines.
Some guys i help farm run 12 9870's with 12 rows,10 grain carts and Cat specially delivered 2 590R's and told us we could run 7 mph in 25% corn and guranteed no loss out the back end.
jesus how much land do they run 30000-40000? How did they like the lexions vs deeres? i've been told deeres are so far behind everyone else it aint funny
nice video. Where is this located at how much land do you run? Ever think about running 2 combines with 16 row heads or 3 combines with 12 row heads?? I would think it would be more cost effective to do so.
this is near Dike, IA. i was told that they were using 8 row heads because it was planted with a 32 row planter. Kruger also runs two combines with 12 row heads. would guess that they would go to 12's as the planters are updated
well with a 32 row planter i would think 16 row heads would work pretty good or do you think they would be to big? Is this just one farm or like a custom crew?
rich!

We ran a 16 row for 2 seasons. Going back to a 12. You would at least a 550bu grain tank for that size head to work.

impressive watching the combine and cart dumping while turning on the headlands. how many trucks do you need to stay ahead?
overbore66 2 years ago 2
I saw at least 6 trucks in this field
