My mother was born in Ulotti in Sweden. I'm fairly sure that side of the family has a significant number of Saami ancestors. Time to find out for sure I guess!
Yeah rolled ''r''s rock :D. I role my rs very strongly when I speak Swedish in my daily life as well ( how rolled it is depend on area, dialect and sometimes social possistion) where I live it is very rolled.
I first became aware of the Saami many years ago when I found an interesting CD in the world music section. These ancient cultures and languages are fascinating for what they tell us about the history and movements of people in the past.
Wow! This is fantastic. I've always admired your willingness to sing. :)
Not many people know about the Saami, especially not here in the States. There's some yoik videos on YouTube. If you do go to Lappland, you must show us pictures or videos. :)
Excellent video my dearest sister, and its good for you to highlight this as being based here amongst the UK I probably would have never have known of this or came across it. 5"s!
@Vogter2100 I was in Denmark for two semesters and met a lot of Hungarian people who had fled to there in '56 :) The first drink bar I found in Odense was the Ungarsk Vinstute as well :D
Anyway, do you speak in Hungarian yet? My father's grandparents fled from Bulgaria here, but even my fatherdon't know any word in Bulgarian :-/
@rikanov Yeah I speak some. Very limited everyday vocabulary. But my accent it so hungarian I get treated like a antive when im 'home' :-)
My biggest problem is the written langauge.. so many big long fancy words. Listening to the news 70 % goes right over my head. But nothing a year in Magyaország couldnt cure ;-)
