  • the only one that really looks like a swan, not just a princess, she's so artistic... so swan!

  • Pure beauty...Uliana, Tchaikowsky, corps de ballet, milions of feelings in a second, never imagined that such a beauty exists on this commercialized world..

  • Speechless!

  • Goodness, she IS a swan. I was watching a special on the Kirov Ballet and her elegance is enchaintng. I love each ballerina for what they bring to a character, but I must agree that I prefer her as Odette.

  • i've never seen anyone bourree like her, she litteraly floats on stage, its beautiful. completely takes my idolization!!

  • Wish I could see this live...

  • it looks very nice but i prefer zakharova

  • the two seconds 5:32 to 5:34 include the eternity!!

  • superbe

  • lopatkina is stunning

  • She is a bit slower than for example ATB´s Gillian Murphy and i like it.

Lopatkina gives me more time to marvel at her elegance and fragile beautiful character of Odetta.

  • I've seen many different ballerinas do this role (on youtube) but Uliana takes the cake. Even though she doesn't hit the poses that the other flexi-rinas do, her performance is mesmerizing in style, technique, and characterization of Odette. And she doesn't just rely on one quality or another, they are all in union.

Her Dying Swan is literally to die for, rock on Uliana!

  • @camille32087 njet :) it isnt online anymore, but Svetlana Zakharova is unreachable. Her Odette's entrance, her Odette Coda are outstanding. Her interpretation of the Black Swan is fascinating, especially at the Scala in 2005

I made the mistake to watch the movie Black Swan. If you have seen the productions with Svetlana Zakharova, this movie is boring, except 2 minutes, when the actress methamorphes into the Black Swan.

  • Could someone explain to me whether it is Uliana or Ulyana. I thought it was Uliana cause thats what it says in the title, but everyones' comments say Ulyana... I am confused

  • Well in Russian it is ~

Ульяна Лопаткина, so it will never be "just right" in English, it's spelled closely to how it sounds and both ways fall a little short because there is a little soft sign, kinda looks like a "b" after the "l" and it gives the "l" in her name a sound we don't really make in English, so either English way is imperfect, but works good enough:-) On her ballet company's website it is translated as Ulyana Lopatkina.

  • Ok thanks a lot <3

  • They all have a great body.

    Lopatkina is wonderful !

  • Lopatkina is stunning. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the current state of the Maryinksy corps de ballet. While they're certainly very fine, I don't see the unity that the "Kirov" had some years ago. Notice particuarly the passe postion near the end on the 3rd girl from the front - she's off. Personally, I've never seen precision and glorious dancing like the POB corps - astounding.

  • Yes I agree with you 100%. Thank you for your interesting text. Some times I notice when the companies travels, they lack precision. The technique is like gone, traveling is exhausting for dancers, I don't know where are they dancing, but I agree with you..

  • Such a amazing company! All dancers have beautiful things. Zakarova for me has a great physical conditions, amazing body and extensions, but If I want to feel the ballet I always finish watching Ouliana.

  • I've seen Svetlana Zakharova, Diana Vishneva and Viktoria Tereshkina dance the role of Odette on YouTube. While all have technically -excellent- performances, the way they dance the role has one little problem--it does not bring out the vulnerability of the Odette character like Ulyana Lopatkina does with her performance.

  • Lopatkina is absolutely divine, that was perfect perfromance!

  • Ulyana Lopatkina is probably the best active ballerina in the world right now when it comes to dancing the Odette role. She does it by being slightly "off" from a technically perfect performance to emphasize the vulnerability of the Odette character.

  • supendo questo pezzo...fa venire i brividi!!!

  • lopatkina is an excelent dancer one of today's best i love her

  • So beautiful and elegant and graceful and skillful and....I could go on.

  • A true BALLERINA!I find her performance as Odette to be just about everything I want to see in the role. When I watch real life swans I see the nobility and grandness(Is that a word?)that I see in her in this role! She actually does nt make the little echappe/passe part into a cheap "Kitri" moment like some other Russian(trained) ballerinas do LOL!I see, not only a swan, but the QUEEN of swans,BRAVA!

  • I found one DVD with Uliana Lopatkina on eBay. But it didn't say what ballet(s) she was dancing. Amazon was a loss.

  • She is so strong she radiates.

  • I was privelged to see her dancing in the "Swan Lake" live in Mariinsky Theatre. It was one of the best experiences of my live. The audeince went crazy :)

  • it isn't yet as far as i know, i'm definately buying it as soon as it is

  • Gorgeous. Is this available on DVD?

  • yes buy the complete oifficial video film ~ it has also appeared on Sky T>V>

  • Where can I buy it? Please tell me!

  • the DVD has been released, you can buy it on Amazon

  • <333

  • @dancingstorm YES, i bought it at Amazon. BBC produced it and you have to see it...its BREATHE TAKING.

  • Her "Dying Swan" was so beautiful, though.

  • Thank you so much for this video!

  • that's not what i see at all, i find a lot of depth in her performance, especially in the pdd i have posted. im not saying your wrong. im just remarking because ballet is weird like that. everyone who watches sees something different...but i love that about ballet, even when i'm not in agreement .

  • I can't agree with you more. I love Lopatkina's performance. I also found lots of depth in her interpretation of the swan queen. She is sublime in the solo variation, I think. Thank you so much for uploading this video.

  • i have to agree with every word you said there. i also loved this, and find it the same that we all see ballet differently.

  • Lopatkina's dancing IS comprised of a lot of pretty poses, but that's just a byproduct of how careful a dancer she is and what long limbs she was naturally blessed with. She by no means relies on the pretty poses to uphold the rest of her dancing. She's a true Kirov dancer and--sadly--one of the last purely classical ballerinas.

  • @waterfallscape me ballet is not about perfection but using body mind and soul to tell a love story with a tragic ending...

  • WHAT CAN I SAY... when am i actually going to see this...

  • yay! I love Uliana! She is so talented! I have actually seen her live when I was like 11. She is the most amazing dancer
