Should be getting this monitor 2morrow, payed $150. I currently have a 720p monitor from 2years ago which I payed $160 for, no I will dual screen both of these to my desktop, but only play games on the acer, and watch movies on my old monitor.

I got this monitor in November of 2011 on my birthday with the money I saved up and gift cards.

It was like a huge improvement from all the other LCD dedicated computer monitors though now I have cheap speakers now hooked up which fail among comparison to the built in speakers on my Vizio display from early 2009

God i hate such unscientific stuff.

It's true that CCFL technology has some similarities with lighttubes.

Then again LED displays most of the time are Edge Backlit displays (especially thin models) meaning that LEDs are arranged around and not behind the panel emitting light that is then diffused behind the panel. In fact these forms of design are often encouraging bleeding and uneven brightness on a panel. The real problem is most people don't have a reference to what a good panel looks like.

When he refers to LED's at just being white and nothing else this isn't entirely correct, too. LED's in such a panel (if not beeing a RGB LED Panel) have a specific Light temperature (that is being Measured in Kelvin). When you use a Monitor then you do use it in a specific color space that has a target white-temperature e.G. 6500K for sRGB or 5000K for ECI-RGB (used for Proofing), if the light emitted by the LED's is anything but that specific temperature is is off, as well.

@FXerGerFra Also don't let you be fooled by extremely high contrast ratios like the 12M:1 promoted on this model because those refere to dynamic contrast meaning two separate images one of an completely white screen against a completely black one (where the back lite will turn itself of, in such a monitor). The only Contrast that is saying anything about the performance of a panel is static contrast meaning the brightest whites against the darkest blacks in one single image/frame

@devonthemaster100 it should be able to play PS3 because of the HDMI inputs.  I'm not sure if xbox has hdmi capability. i think that when you plug your ps3 into it for the first time you hold down your power button and it will sync to the monitor and then you can change your aspect and resolution

I bought this model Friday at Walmart off the clearance table. The box had a small crush spot on the corner. I was considering passing on it when an associate came over and I asked is the damaged corner was why.

He said no. In Walmart lingo, he said it was 'out of mod' (?) He also said it was factory sealed and it was returnable if the crush did damage. For 95.00 bux, I bought it. Glad I did. And this tut answered my ? about DVI/VGA. I'm thrilled with it and even more so @ 95.00 bux.

Your question is one reason I came looking for a tut because other searches have said HDMI doesn't mean much unless you plan on watching Blu-Ray on a PC. If they're lying to me then I'm lying to you, That's all I know, anyway, mine didn't come with a HDMI cable which was a little disappointing but it's still a sharp monitor for the price I paid. I don't think my picture can get any better than it is with a DVI cable.

I've recently brought the S232HL 23in which is like exactly the same model/driver.

But my graphic card doesnt use the maximum space, so there's a little left.

My friend got another monitor from samsung. he has the same problem, but we have the same graphic card. i've checked for driver updates and such but still doesnt work.. if anyone could help me then please PM or write and reply on here. im using HDMI but if i use DVI nothing is shown on the screen..

@Akaweex I had the same problem with asus 23 in LED as well, I guess you have ATI or AMD card and you're using Catalyst software, is so, it's an easy fix, open your catalyst control center, go to my digital flat panel, and go to scaling options, and slide to overscan 0. that should fix the problem for you.
