I played with a guy today who is convinced that an ace is only an ace if it happened on the very first shot, and that making it in on the 2nd try would be like re-teeing and making it on the 3rd stroke.
You get one shot with a disc to get it in the basket for an Ace. A regulation round would never have a player throwing more than one disc at the same hole, but when a player practices he may end up playing multiple discs against each other or maybe empty the bag. The odds are about the same every time you throw a disc at a basket in that the variables you have to overcome can't even be calculated. Some people will never ace not matter how many shots they take. Some are gifted with many.
For me, I keep track of every Ace. Those thrown in rounds with friends, by myself, or in practice. I love to play as many holes a possible so it is rare for me to empty my bag on a hole unless I am practicing some kind of technique. Lucky for me I am blessed with a knack for finding the chains. If emptying your bag helped get aces, you would see lots of people with high ace counts. Getting an Ace is rare. It's more about being blessed with the ability rather than how many discs thrown.
