Personally, I think the programme was a load of BS. Did anyone notice that the Mojos were extremely conspicuous by their absence, or did the Mojos not figure as something remotely important in Lewis's life? I had made a point of watching the programme when it first came out, as I was quite surprised that he was the subject, but I watched it to the end with mounting disbelief as not one of the Mojos were invited onto the show.

Aye Ian , thats spot on, he was badged with 21 , and asked to join 22 , but the col said a big no no as he was, as you said , in the public eye , he was f**king gutted at this news
Been many years since I've seen this. I was in the audience, as my Dad was one of the guests (he was in 'the renegades' with Lew). after the show, there was a party at the studio, all the children were given 'little red books' to collect autographs, the 'celebs' were all very nice to me, and the other children, apart from Lenny Bennet, who refused to sign autographs for any of us! Lew is living in California now, with his wife and kids.
i knew lewis during his fame.he was fitness mad. he went through the entire sas program and passed. however, they could not recruit him as he was too well known. he was also a 1st class marksman. he often said back when he was a truck driver he had planned to join the royal signals. he was a regular guy at the depot. no one knew he was acting on the side. i guess he thought we would think it was queer. he used to smoke like a trooper. 30-40 park drive a day.
@ianupton Thanks for droping by! No wonder, with doing all the SAS training and even doing the stunts etc on the show, he must have been extremly fit then. I wonder how he managed that with the amount of fags *g*
Interesting to hear you really didn't know, he was an actor. When did you get to know that ?
@wardie72 He was 'too' good for James Bond. Too tough and not charming enough. One thing all the Bond's have in common is they seem a touch gay, even Connery. No way you could call Lewis Collins that!
Aww how cute! Too bad I couldn't make the sound any clearer, missed a bit there. I loved Gonzo in the Muppet Show, and wow how many celebrities he's got the chance to "meet" !!!
I'd like to see more of Lew too, but the most important thing would be that he is happy with his life. But yes, he would have been a great James Bond... I never got the taste for Dalton really.
I absolutely adore this show, he is such a sweetheart there, you just have to love him.
Ripping the show was a nightmare, so I just picked this bit as a vid. The audio is out of synch, but as much as I fiddled around, it didn't worked right :(
Seeing Lew back on TV/stage would be fantastic.
But if he's happy as a family man instead, I honestly grant him that with all my heart :)
This is great, the last time I looked on youtube for this it wasn't around. You've got tons of Lewis footage, need to spend sometime having a good long look at it all :-) thanks

you sad fuck..you named your boy after lewis collins..if he had been that good of an actor hed be in films,,where is he now,the last thing he was in was the bill in 2002
At least he had an interesting life, and acted etc, your life could have been interesting too, you could have got an education for a start so you could communicate with some form of intellegence!!
One of the coolest guys that ever lived...........but it could even have been better..........were it not for bad timing he could have been a Bond............and another famous earlier. In 1961 he was a drummer at Mojos in Liverpool..........he was offered a job at a budding new band known as "The Beatles". He refused because he said they wouldnt amount to much! Ahhh.......the agony of hindsight!!
Yes - The Cuckoo Waltz was quite funny, especially Lewis all too rare scenes. He really does seem to be an all round nice guy - down to earth, and the kind of person anyone would like to share a drink with. Not to mention he's the best James Bond who never was, I spoke with an ex 007 director on that subject several yrs ago and he too thought Lew would have been excellent in the role. Still - we have Who Dares and the Professionals to saver for eternity luckily. Cheers Lew.
I was a young kid when the Pro's was originally on, and even called my goldfish Bodie & Doyle. Looking at the repeats on ITV4 now, can't help thinking what a brilliant Bond he could have been.
Yes, I agree! I've been a life long fan of Lew and have never ever seen the This is Your Life. Thanks for this and when you can do more it would be great!!
Nothing to compare with the Bodie role (hardly to believe, Pros just started shortly after the Cuckoo Waltz) and it just shows, how good he was in funny roles.
Great facts about lewis, he passed SAS training and also turned down a chance to replace the Beatles drummer Pete best

He was gonna b James Bond but screwed it up for himself when he beat his missus up,after that who would want him
MegaPalpa 1 year ago
@MegaPalpa no - he was turned down for James Bond after he auditioned in 1982 becasue he came across as too aggressive in the role. Check Wikepedia

@GoldenLegends100 Hell, I knew it! See my comment above. I wrote it before I saw what you said about his unsuccessful audition.
