  • I have to say that is my favorite bluecoats closer, gets me everytime. XD

  • I love how the cadets won that year, yet the last 34 seconds of this video is devoted to the greatest show ever put to the field.

  • You MUST make all of these into a playlist!

  • Wow the star of indiana sounds so amazing!!!

    So much power

  • I decided when I heard the Scouts play Strawberry Soup that there was NO WAY I wouldnn't march drum corps. I was 14. I marched 4 years and taught one.

One tune from the Scouts changed my life in a way I never thought possible.

  • @MaximumTrollingAvail Wrong. Bill Cook recently passed away. I have no idea why Star discontinued their marching, though.

  • @Wahl95 The corp took their performance to Europe.

  • @MrSCSInc They actually got out of the D&BC business altogether and joined up with Canadian Brass and did "An Evening of brass Theatre," which evolved into Blast! over the years. I wish they would've stayed on the football field.

  • Oh yeah! STAR IF INDIANA FTW!!!! My school is marching the Medea!

  • ....no one sucks.... Phantom... Star... Cadets... Cavies.... who won? if you say Blue Devils im commiting suicide...

  • @Betachiken Cadets

  • @Betachiken Cadets won, Star should have won, but their show was easily 10 years ahead of its time, and I despise Blue Devils

  • 5:23 Such a simple move, yet so f***ing awesome!!!!!!!

  • I miss these days. The Xmen trilogy is one of my favorite all time. :D

  • that fortissimo by star at 7:25 has got to be the sexiest thing that ever touched my ears.

  • why did Star of Indiana discontinue their marching???

  • @Cdog971

Something about the creator/ director passing away

  • Comment removed

  • Star of Indiana FTW! Met Rudy Gowern. The guy's an AMAZING drummer.

  • People seem to forget this is the year the Colts broke into the top 12 and made the largest jump in one year in drum corps history!!!!!!! The year of the Colt 45's true rookies of the year.

  • Listen to that crowd at the end of Star's show!!!

  • I am willing to bet that the vast majority of people on here saying that Star should have won were not even alive during this time.

  • @Inspadave I bet your right. Saw Cadets a couple of times in 93.....it was real obvious this corps was in a groove when I saw them in Hershey....2nd week of July. They were like a machine then...

  • What type's of instruments was used this year? Jupiter?

  • Seriously, I don't care what Cadets had, that was Star's (especially) and Phantom's year.

  • geez, the Cavaliers uniform really hasn't changed in roughly 20 years

  • Obviously, I thumbs-upped your video here, because your putting up at all is great. But out of the dozens of "moments" you see as being the single "best" moments from the entire 1993 season, not ONE of them happens to be a drum feature? That's a pretty big percentage of moments to disregard.

Kind of suspicious, if you ask me.

  • I was lucky enough to see all of these corps live that year. I miss these days back when BD still played good, crowd friendly music (they pulled off Don Ellis in a great way!).

  • 9:59...priceless

  • 6:39-7:28 are the best three moments that year.

  • What happened to Star ?

  • @Denshoukiro Star evolved into Blast.

  • what was star of indiana's show even about?

  • 8:00 OH MY GOD the contra player on the very left got screwed by the drill. NICE!

  • early 90's BD uniforms are so much better than their uniforms today...

  • @gotshrimp33 Absolutely the Uniform back then was so much better than what they are using now.

  • Can you make 2002? That was my favorite year!

  • You really should have just posted Star's show and that would have been the best moments.

  • How the @#%#% did Star of Indiana not win that year?

  • @lflagr They were 20 years ahead of their time and so radically different to anyone else that quite frankly, the judges had no idea what to do with them.

  • How many of us realised back then when watching Star that we were truly witnessing greatness and a corps probably 20 years ahead of it's time!

  • @cainanuk I couldn't appreciate Star 93 back then, but definitely do now!

  • was this in Orlando? I think my parents took us down there for this..

  • @tjyounglax No, this was in Jackson, Mississippi

  • God the crowd cheering after Star of Indiana is just deafening.

  • Scouts Guard 93...An AWSOME summer! My first year in the organization, was givin ALL the solos, (not good as a rookie) but def my most memorable!

  • Were the Scouts out of tune at the end of their opener?

  • Not enough Star. Too much of everyone else.

  • Star and Phantom should have got 100.0 Both Shows were perfect.

  • Anybody see the Bluecoats contra hold it with no hands at 4:10? Second from the left.

  • @MrLBKA you mean from the right

  • @MrLBKA I DID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

  • I loved marching that year! All DCM division one corps but one made finals that year. DCM didn't win the title but we sure represented that night!

  • I still think there is tons more power in the G horns than the Bb horns...Excellent video, this was also one of my favorite years, lots of great corps with some pretty exciting shows, and rain for the first time on Finals night. WOW!!! Keep up the good work, man!!

  • I marched in 93 at Southwind and was standing high in the Left end zone for Blue Devils finals show. The clip you had at about 4:30 was one of my favorite memories. The video from DCI doesn't show it well, but the percussion judge gets CREAMED by the contra line and crawls out from under the battery there, it was awesome!

  • did the 1993 star of indiana show only have songs that were later in their Blast show?

  • holy shat th cadets had a kickass mello section :O

  • howlysheeot!!!

  • This is my favorite year in DCI. Blue Devils brought a new level of musical difficulty tot he sport, Phantom pulled at the heart stings for the first time in a while (in my opinion), Star totally changed the shape of drum corps (once again, In my opinion), and the Cadets showed us what a flawless visual program looked like. But most importantly, everyone just had really cool shows that year :)

  • The DCI shows of the 1990s, in my opinion, had a lot more melody and seemed more accessible to the fans whereas the shows of nowadays seem more theatrical and esoteric. The shows of nowadays (at least most of them), aren't as gutsy as they were during the 20th century. Back then, corps probably didn't worry about their shows having to tell a story. They probably only worried about having loud and formidable horns lines (G-Bugles back then) and drum lines. Great stuff!

  • @charoian1 AGREED!

  • wtf no Skyriders?!?!?!?! beat BD in drums EVERYTIME

  • Glassmen's uniforms... lol.

1993 was an incredible year, though.

  • 7:25 could possibly be the best ever single brass chord ever played in DCI history

  • @smn76 The best brass chord in this clip is at 6:06......Madison Scouts between the 40's and in front of the front hash......

  • Check out the Top Bass Drummer for Star at 9:28, he sure covered a lot of ground in the last 30 secs of the show. WOW!!

  • 7:00 mello line!!!!!

and ending with this particular clip from Star fo Indiana was a good choice IMHO

  • Star of Indiana is by far the most powerful marching unit ever to hit the field. PLEASE COME BACK!!!!

  • They are back...or at least the alumni corps is. Watch for them at DCI semifinals; they'll be playing a piece from their 1993 show.

  • OMG!! at 4:09 watch the 2nd to last tuba on the right side of the tuba line he puts his hands down and walks with his tuba up and his hands down epic!! HAH

  • 9:44-9:50 Best marching guard ever. Best rotation of an obtuse triangle to scalene I think DCI could have ever imagined.

  • Thank you for that amazing trip down memory lane. That was the summer after I graduated high school and marched my first year in senior drum corp in DCA. We all followed those corps religiously. At the time I remember that season being criticized for a lack of audience appeal, but looking back it was a season of innovation and now in perspective - MANY great unforgettable moments.

And Fire of Eternal Glory ALWAYS gets me choked up. What a great performance by Phantom!

  • DCI hasn't had any audience appeal since George Hopkins started calling the shots, turning DCI into Bands of America. I look on these shows fondly as what drum corps really was, and what it no longer is.

  • Oh shut your face

  • You know I'm right.

  • Yeah, I had forgotten that none of the other directors get to vote on any issues anymore. What a shame.

  • @indcnut And who has the final veto? George Hopkins.

  • 5:24 blew my everloving mind

i think star of indiana could be comparable to carolina crown nowadays?

  • @jedibassman100 except Star of Indiana was a drum and bugle corps. Carolina Crown is a marching band without woodwinds...

  • @flugel76 yeah because no one plays G bugles anymore...

  • @flugel76

Dude...what the hell crawled up your vagina and died? DCI simply isn't the same activity it was back in 1993....drum corps has evolved and changed. Stop being a fucking dinosaur.

  • 9:24 watch the 1 phantom regiment member

on the last 2 quarter notes that ends on the 50 back side.

hes still running to his spot when everyone else stopped. :[.

  • In his defense he had a haul ass move backwards

  • @alildrumhappy of course. :].

  • Just noticed that this is your only video that you don't end with Phantom.

  • '91 thru '93 were the years DCI corps ROCKED!! All of them! Hands down!!!

  • 8:12 hits you right in the face too

  • 6:39 = Win.

  • The 1993 Cadets show is one of my favorites of all time!

Star did a great job too!

  • Ugh. Cadets were ok, but Phantom and Star were outstanding that year.

  • 5:25 OH HELL YEA!

  • I just watched this whole DVD like last week... had chills like the entire time. Had chills the entire time watching this too. Damn... and look at DCI today... what has happened?

  • god phantom destroyed this year. when they finished danza final and fire of eternal glory i about shit my pants lol

  • star 93 is the best show ever created.

  • amazing video-your best yet...keep it up!

but seriously...what a great year. You could have made a best 1993 dci moments out of only cadets, star, and phantom

  • This really was an amazing year for DCI...so many great performances...I nearly fell out of my chair at 5:25; that moving wedge gets me every time.

  • Several note worthy things happened in '93. I think '93 is the last year of DCI of yesteryear and '94 is the beginning of more of what we see today.

I'd like to think that Star would have stayed in DCI if they had been crowned champion???....

Notice at 5:25 that the bass drummers are out of step during Phantom's moving wedge.

  • Well...think about it this way. In some crazy alternate dimension in a twisted morphed version of our universe, Star won in 1993, stayed in DCI, and has the most number of wins at finals with Phantom in a close second. Oh...and DCI still has g-bugles.

    :)

  • @svolypet

Nice dream! I wish we could see it!

  • Long time ago but having been friends with the Cook family, the decision to leave the field was made long before placing 2nd that year.

  • Cavies had one of their worst placements this year.

  • That was the year they lost Brubaker

  • AHH 1993. The year I lost my drum corps virginity. The great John DeNovi (marching instructor) told me to watch PBS early Sunday AM to watch their rebroadcast of the 93 finals. Being a drummer/perc. I was sucked in by the Scouts and floored by Phantom. Later years, I was and still floored by Star.

  • Was this Star's last year?

  • yes

  • @chskcsmith unfortunately...

  • What a great year for DCI! That Phantom sound kicks ass!

  • Great Job once again Jeremy! 1993 was a great year for DCI. Star of Indiana's show was very... interesting.. to say the least IMO XD Thanks for making a great video once again x) Keep 'em coming!

  • Cadets were fine, but Star and Phantom really owned that year.

  • WOW! My favorite year of DCI. Every show was top notch! You didn't end it with Phantom, I can see why though. Stars closing statement that year was just WOW!

  • Oh Jeremy how I have been waiting for this... Best Xmas present ever! And no matter what anyone says, 5:17 leads into the coolest and GE-est move ever. I've yet to see AND hear one that tops it. And oh yeah, SUMMERTIME! Colts Top 12 baby!

  • im still wating for a 2003 one

  • Star got screwed....their show was so different from any other show to date.... loved it Thanks!!!

  • hey jeremy....is there a way to improve the vid quality?

  • I uploaded it abou 10 minutes ago, so it is still processing with YouTube. Just give it an hour or two

  • It's much better now! Thanks for the vids!!

  • *COUGH* 2009 *COUGH*

  • patience

  • haha I have been waiting patiently since the season ended XD

haha just kidding take your time :P

  • haha once I get my hands on the DVD's, I'll work round the clock to get it up here
