I want an exact quote because it sounds twisted and fake. And Madonna didn't care about music in 1991/1992? You have to be fucking kidding me. If that were the case, we would've never gotten ROL or anything else she's done since LAP, or even LAP for that matter if she never cared. IF he even remotely said something like that, then Patrick's an idiot.
Show me the receipts! I want a video or a reliable source with those supposed quotes from Patrick. He's only been respectful towards Madonna and vice versa. He has always talked about how v involved she is in all she does, music included. Madonna does care about music, she has since she got involved with it and probably always will somehow, but at the moment she's finishing her movie. That doesn't mean she doesn't care about music at all. Madonna's always had a lot of projects going on anyway.
thanks for the wonderful posting! a true musical genius!! but dont be so sure the M ever actually gave a sh** the music! i read a quote from Pat saying it pissed him off when M would say music is not a major concern of hers...his exact words were "well its a major concern for someone, bitch, otherwise you would be there!!!!"
Really, i don't think Madonna is so stupid to say that music is not a major concern of hers to Patrick.. Madonna doesnt seem a stupid person to me but to the contrary. Anyway Timberlake... cmoon.. Pat >>>> Timberlake
@nitekat007 BULLSHIT. you're just talking shit..Patrick never said that. and if Music wasn't such a major concern for Madonna then she would have quit a long time ago....truly talking shit you are.
Patrick also said that he wasn't involved in the Blond Ambition tour because when Madonna showed him the stage design he saw that the musicians were relegated to the background, basically in a pit, and he objected and wouldn't do it.
I'm sure Madonna's a lot more well-balanced about the whole thing nowadays. She was still young back then and in the full flow of her 'political' phase, consequently music and art took a back seat for a while.

sorry but that was just hideous. this song simply cannot be played on a piano - even by one of its creators. i've heard so many instrumental attempts on la isla bonita and one was worse than the other. this song is flawless on madonna's 80s voice and that's all.
@toolate4567 The song can be played on piano; it's just phenomenally difficult to control the nuanced melody over the odd beat and still maintain the song's seductive style.
an absolut unbeliveable Musican, for a long long time i collecting Music but what he did is an amazing part for the Music Scene, i stay on my knees in fron of you Patrick !! respect !!
Doe she have a myspace page? I had an opportunity to meet in '87 at Roselle Music in IL. He's an incredible talent and producer. I wish there was a way to send him an email. Truly the talent behind the talent.
Then Rivers recorded in '94 could be the way to go, unless of course you already own it. Based on condensed improvs, Pat's approach on the grand piano is very similar to what's in these videos, though some of the tracks are backed up by one or a few other acoustic instruments. Just love the stories/ diary entries that go with each track. Caught some fish lately, Pat?
Pat Leonard rules the world. Awesome. Madonna should perform some of the songs he wrote for her (the best songs of her career) in a setting like this with him on piano. Amazing.
beautiful playing...nice...

Does not sound like "la isla bonita" at all

@escuipo I guess you don't understand much about the root composition of your typical popular song. Or maybe you don't like art.

This is transfixing. The rhythms perfectly evoke the lapping of waves on a beach.

For the love of Christ, Madonna... this was the good shit. This was a marriage that worked for you. Justin Timberlake? Timbaland? Really?
Please go back to making music you give a shit about.
