@ellmag92 Dog boxes generally have straight cut gears. It's similar to the way a car with manual transmissions whine in reverse, except in every gear. Reverse idler gears are straight cut. Straight cut gears are generally stronger, so race cars tend to have them. Standard street gears (called helical gears) have a slanted pattern that reduces gear noise. You can look up anything I said if you don't understand/need more explanation.
