  • gut wrench????? haha this commentator thinks its freestyle

  • Kolat was great in HS. Beat them all. Never would have went undefeated in AA during that era. Ty Moore, Joe Wildasin -- AAA studs

  • kolat is the chuck norris of wrestling

  • no higher now , no higher son.. No Hire!! **reff gets in pounce position

  • omg he only went the distance 10 times out of 136 matches, he is a certified beast lol

  • kind of a shitty way for Bohn to shake his Kolats hand. Shows little class. I thought he had done pretty well considering, up to the point I saw that.

  • Kolat was great. Remember he had been AA (not AAA). The nations toughest state reared a few other great ones (AAA), Wildasin and Ty Moore. I do not think he would have faired to well against those animals.

  • @hunter98790 Kolat would have majored Ty Moore/Wildasin if not teched or pinned them. Kolat is the best high school wrestler of all time, by far.

He placed at the US Senior OPEN (Grown men, Olympians) and beat NCAA champions at Midlands while in high school.

Right out of high school he got 3rd, 2nd, 1st, and 1st in NCAAs and this was considered a disappointment.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Just a neck sprain toughen up

  • Ty Moore and or Wildasin were better

  • I remember being at the arena in Hershey and watching this match. Couple finer points people either forgot or don't know about this match. 1. Bohn talked a lot prior to this match about how he was going to be beat Kolat. 2. After Kolat's backflip, Bohn was deflated and he started wrestling a lot more defensive. 3. People speculated that Bohn forfeited because he dislocated his elbow - I saw him walking in the outer halls of the arena and didn't have a cast or brace.

  • he cant gut wrench that commentator stinks!!!!!!!!

  • the one commentator should be horse whipped

  • is kolat wearing 2 different shoes? its hard to tell but it kinda looks like it to me

  • @ready12095 yea ones red and the others black

  • This move was soon outloud...but i mean look at that,

  • lol, the commentators are hilarious

  • Actually, that was a smart move by Bohn to just default, making Kolat look bad, denying him a "legit" win in front of everybody. He was gonna lose anyway. Why not deny your opponent the satisfaction of authentically beating you? Kolat was clearly angry walking off the mat.

  • @JesusManson323 It's not about denying a better wrestler the satisfaction of winning. It's about showing some class and wrestling your hardest. How can you ever respect yourself knowing that you just gave up to deny somebody a legitimate win? That's just being a pussy.

  • what a beast he makes little peckers out of full grown men

  • I have never seen any thing like that!! not something I would have tried but what ever works

  • that is awsome

  • kolat is potentially dangerous well before the match even begins.

  • its blatant in the rules, once u have the opp. arm in the bat, it has to stay under 45 degrees on the back give or take a little. and cannot extend away from the back. when a ref is quick on the pot. dangerous then u have to do other things, like kolat did. and he is such a beast he hurt him with something else..

  • legit follow thru after the flip chain wrestling baby

  • Flip is at 5:52, and replays at 6:12 and 8:20

  • The one commentator was awful.

"He's had a defensive posture the whole match..." He did the best he could against a MUCH better athlete. Bohn went out there to wrestle for a state championship, not to let Kolat put on a show.

Also the announcer knew very little about wrestling --- "He's going to hit a gut wrench from there..." "He wants to wrestle the olympic style..." YOU CAN'T, IDIOT! It's a high school match --- those things are against the rules.

  • Other than locking hands and large throws really, it's not illegal to wrestle 'olympic' style. It's not very advantageous to wrestle 'olympic' style in Folkstyle wrestling though since you won't score any legit points. i.e. a non-locked gut wrench would score 0 points but is in no way a violation of the rules.

  • @TheMartyMoose Kolat let him get the single so he could do the back flip, hes the best high school wrestler ever and he deserves to get away with it

  • @TheMartyMoose how is a gutwrench against the rules

  • @icharuswing you cant lock hands while on top in folkstyle.

  • @evkero so front headlock is also illegal?

  • @icharuswing No you cant lock hands around the body or both legs after scoring a takedown. the headlock is still ok as well as a few other obscure exceptions.

  • @evkero alright thanks man. another question for ya, how come americans do folk style in highschool?

  • @icharuswing safer.

  • @icharuswing All I can offer is my opinion. I don't know the actual reason we wrestle folkstyle in HS and college but the style does force a lot of action from both wrestlers. The style is more about controlling the other wrestler than launching them. Its slightly safer so therefore more attractive to an American scholastic association. I love all the styles and folkstyle has actually helped my freestyle.

  • Wow, what a competitor, and what a move! I wrestled for a high school in the South Hills of Pittsburgh and our coach used to make us watch Kolat videos. Then we'd have to do Kolat drills. lol. That sucked!! That meant that we always had to go on the attack on offense and it was really tiring, but it paid off in the end because we were better wrestlers for it.

    Toughest sport in the world!

  • backflip at 5:53

  • kolat is a technician magician.. lol

  • this makes me wanna try wrestling

  • u should, wrestling is a really tough sport, but it gets u stronger not just physically but mentally. And its great cause it prepares u for the real world, gotta work for what u want ;)

  • i will

  • Plus it prepares you for mma. Which is the best sport this planet has to offer.

  • Wrestling is preety good man you should try it.

  • haha the commentators spent the whole time arguing XD

  • ohhh dammnn 05:53 was the kolat flip

    hahaha

    too bad its illegal now

  • it's not illegal. i see it all the time.

  • The National High School rules have made it illegal as of this school year.

"A backflip from the standing position is illegal"

    So now it's illegal.

  • fuck. damn shame.

  • Depends on your state from what ive heard. idk how true that is though. some states kept it legalized from what ive heard

  • In PA it's illegal...my teammate got a concussion from someone who did a back flip. (possible reason)

  • that is not fair kolat is a beast, it wasnt a fair match LOL

  • That wasnt throwing his head gear you fucking idiot he was taking it off.

  • he threw his headgear when still on the mat.

He coulda been penalized if it was a dick ref.

  • it doesnt matter he won states if the ref said anything he would russian tie his ass

  • What would the ref have done? the other guy was forced to injury default. He couldn't have done anything that would have affected the match. If it was like a 1 point win yes its possible, but here, no.

  • umm no? maybe if the ref was a really big dick. but he tossed it...its not like he threw it. ive seen kids toss their head gear all the time i dont see any problem with that

  • osum...

  • yea he is a beast idk y he didnt make the the olympic team

  • Please tell me that 8:47 hasn't been made illegal? Anyone know or not

  • As far as I know it's still legal. I've seen it done by good wrestlers recently. Chris Bohn is one of the only guys I've seen who tries to fight it and doesn't go with it...and you see what happens. Major torque on that elbow lol

  • The back flip is now an illegal move according to rule 7-1-5W.

  • no its still legal he was just trying the russian roll he had done earlier in the match but the move got kind of messed up

  • Fortunately i am a wrestler in PA i go to Lower Dauphin and have faced boiling springs in many sports and i wouldve loved to face kolat in a match.... i would have no problem losing to a guy of his calibur i would love to go out there and just try to see how long i could last....

  • are you kane

  • kolat was better at the time just didnt ahve the drive to go where smith did in his future

  • who do you think was better...cary Kolat or John Smith?

  • john smith: super coach, olympic world national ncaa and open champ

    kolat: ncaa champ

  • thats my step uncle!

  • I figured out why Kolat was so pissed when Bohn had the injury default; Kolat had pinned his previous three opponents in the state finals.

  • his opponent was just tall

  • Kolat's opponent is so big!

  • he was fuckin undefeated in high school i doubt a kid from NY thats a freshman could beat him

  • One of the most amazing wrestling matches I've ever seen

  • I wrestled in PA District 3 just up the road from Chris Bohn. He deserves credit for not avoiding this match by switching weights in pursuit of a title. He wanted to wrestle Kolat. Kolat then made a 33-0-1 wrestler with a roughly 126-13 record look almost silly. If I remember correctly, of the 10 guys who lasted 6 minutes with Kolat, 9 of them were during his freshman year.

  • i dont think so.

  • LOL^^ JV Tournament? Are you serious Kolat won STATES as a freshman, not get second place at a pathetic JV Tournament

  • LOL^^ JV Tournament Are you F**king Joking? Compare a JV Tournamentto States and its completly different. Kolat won STATES as a freshman not some pathetic JV Tournament

  • LOL^^ JV Tournament? Are you serious Kolat won STATES as a freshman, not get second place at a pathetic JV Tournament

  • haha that is so funny!!!! omygod!! second at a JV tourney!!! what a beast!! he could definately take on kolat!!

  • No, it wouldn't be close. The guy from your school would get worked. I got 2nd in county and first at area my freshman year, varsity tournaments mind you. And I would get destroyed by Kolat, you fucking idiot.

  • thank god for any wrestler outside of PA lucky enough not to have wrestled this beast!

  • i wrestled against jefferson morgan a few times and there coaching there is just amazing.

  • i heard off carry kolat and by watchin this match he looks like a good wrestler

  • no shit he's one of the best well was

  • hmm this is pretty good wrestling but for all of u that are arguing about whos great wrestlers id have to say that no matter who the best one is hes either cale sanderson as the excpetion or hes from iowa weve had to much talent with gable jeff kerber the 2 reiders tj sebolt theres so many more its hard to choose but were undoubtfully the best wrestling state second has to be minnesota

  • lets not forget he wrestled for the usa against cuba and won wrestled in the midland open tourney. beating a national champion in semis, Then lost to 4 time national champ jack Cuvo 8-6 kolat was beating cuvo 6-4. and he did all this as a sophmore in high school

  • theres this kid from NY k. hill that could beat this guy kolat, he is that good

  • ouch! i woulda given up too, he was getting mangled by carry!

  • Yeah...Kolat was so agressive that he was basically beating him up, albeit within the rules! He wrestled like an animal.

  • has this guy wrestled tyler graff from Colorado?

  • obviously not retard, cary kolat wrestled in the 1980s, and tyler graff sucks, a smart wrestler would have his money on ryan mango from missouri

  • yeah i figured that one a little too late dickwad, but thanks for the info. Oh and you are so right who is the big dummy who ranked Graff NUMBER 1? I also like cejudo, but Ohio has a number of badass' in the middle weights.

  • no bro. the best one is michael mangrum from washington.

  • I like the PBJ throw. Not sure what other names it's called. The Russian throw he was using. I like the announcer who acts like the other kid should be fine. Even when that move is done correctly it's very potentially dangerous for the other wrestler. At least one of the announcers got it right. Great match though. Liked that alot.

  • what year was this?

  • 1992. He won the state tournament as a freshman in 1989 and was of course undefeated throughout his whole high school career.

  • Thanks Steve. He is a joy to watch.

  • Robshanky u made him laugh. Damn he used to coach at sp and it was an accomplishment to make him SMILE

  • what weight was he?

  • 135 lbs

  • he is my favorite wrestler even though i have a differant style from him. i like leg rides,tilts/stacks. i have a video go check it out i was fooling with the kid could have pinned him in 30 secs if i wanted

  • Ref's like this make me wanna piss me off.

  • i met him over the summer and had seen the video but i didnt know it was him or else i wouldve asked him how to do it ive almost got it perfectly ive hit it a few times in actual matches

  • He was at my highschool again today and I asked him to wrestle me and he was just like you want a shot at me ? and he like grabbed my arm and laughed and walked away...Fuckin awesome

  • that ref was a cockhead.

  • I just met Cary Kolat , he was in my higschool today and it was such a surprise because I didnt even know he would be there and he is my idol . Got my headgear signed :D . Most amazing day of my life today!!

  • that announcer is an ass for downgrading the guy in the yellow... kolat is good but he doesnt need to keep saying he is a world class wrestler and saying that kid doesnt have a chance

  • i love kolat ive been to some of his camps and he works you really hard but all that does is make you better. that was sweet anyway

  • This ref was a tool...

  • Agreed. I hate ref's like that. You can't call everything potentially dangerous, wrestling is potentially dangerous what are you gonna do haha

  • cary kolat is my coach an i go evry sunday up to baltimore hes reeelly tough lol

  • 4:27.... matt schrupp kicks ass at that move.

  • amazing. he pulled a judo arm reversal(ude gaeshi) during a high school wrestling match at 4:27. Then he did it again adn almost snapped it. Daammmn!

  • Wow! What a blast from the past to find this video. I saw it as it happened and it seriously was awesome. What an amazing career and he is a cool guy too ;-)

  • this guy is a crazy good wrestler. i have no idea how the guy in yellow stayed wit him that long.

  • Oh shit this guy's nuts.

  • kolat coaches me during the summer

  • me too

  • that.....was........AMAZING

  • i wrestle for kolat!

  • Its called the funk, not that amazing. Considering a lot of the wrestling world knows it.

  • don't you roll forward and under the guys legs for a funk roll not an actual back flip?

  • he is doin a funk i know my way around the wrestling world

  • NO BACK EXPOSURE IF IN FREESTYLE!

  • Back then, not many people probably knew about it. I haven't seen it used where I wrestle yet.

  • WOW - glad I never had to face him

  • that kolat flip is like the jordan dunk of wrestling

  • Cary coached me and the rest of the highschool team this summer at his camp in maryland(=. i miss my cott

  • kolat isnt a fuckin kid dumbass... crytek28 ur retarded

  • Lol, this guy, Kolat, is now the wrestling coach at my school... St. Paul's School for Boys in Maryland... suck it hos! ;-P

  • my brother wrestles for his team

  • One of the most exciting wrestlers ever. * 4 Time Pennsylvania State Champ(Undefeated in High School) * 2 Time NCAA Champion * 4 Time NCAA All-American * 1998 -- World Championships -- Bronze Medalist * 1998, 1999, 2000 -- World Cup -- GOLD Medalist * 1999 -- Pan-American Games -- GOLD Medalist * 2000 -- Pan-American Games -- GOLD Medalist * 2000 -- U.S. Olympic Team * 2001 -- World Cup -- Silver Medalist
