  • old guys should never say funky rock grove

  • That's really amazing ._.

this really is a great help :)

  • U are a genius!

  • Thx i don't got my guitar right now but im going to favorit this video to don't lose it

  • Omg i am so lost

  • Ill give you my address for your bass

  • @FrankasaurousREX LOL that's a fender jazz bass, you can get it in every shop which sells bass for moderate amount of calculated 800 - 1000 $ (or similar with €)

  • @matic1444 Actually it's an american precision bass you can tell by the alignment... Which sell new for round $1,200 dollars trust me I would know I own a Mexican Jazz... those come new $800 not an american jazz bass and I'm still in highschool so money is tight for me and affording a new bass is out of the question

  • @FrankasaurousREX my bad my bad :)

  • @matic1444 hehe!

  • ... how do you count those 8th notes again? :D 0:54 ->

  • i took this riff, change built on it, kinda like a scrabble game........take one line and build on it. Thanks Tommy

  • why do 2/3 of bass players put their hand over the bodyu ike a limp dick its ugly as shit

  • @TheTrolllollol what do you mean? and its probably because 2/3 are limp dicks!

  • @ggrady87 nah, u're wrong, not 2/3 of them just look down between your legs see that saggy little outgrowth THAT is a limp dick OR find a mirror look into it THAT is also a limp dick but of increased magnitude i hope u understand
  • @tallestfinder alright mate, you clearly have a thing for penis' or 'dicks' and thats fine, but i think you need to keep your sexual orientation to yourself :)

  • @ggrady87 i am just a mere shepherd who is trying to coorect a limp dick (that means you) from the path of being an moronic asshole :)

  • @tallestfinder haha i love the way your point could only be made by a moron but you are calling me a moronic asshole. and im not a limp dick i bone the bass so hard it actually gives it a hard-on. Its like bass-porn, but this porn is terrible because he has a 'limp dick' :)

  • Drugs are bad, mmkay?

  • Can you send me the tabs of the first and second pattern?

  • @Bahadieh You can find a link to the tabs in the more info section of this page

  • I JUST GOT MY BASS GUITAR 24 HRS AGO! AND I AM READYYY TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY IT...................

  • @MRSRON803 way to go man! welcome to the Funk-hood, have a seat, and enjoy the funkyness, just don't take Les' seat, he gets quite offended :-P in all seriousness tho good choice on picking the bass. you'll prolly pick it up quite fast, and from 5 years experience i can say that it's one of the easiest and most enjoyable instruments one can play, but don't get it twisted, it is difficult for a bit, but once you have the basics down, you'll be rippin it up in no time... well at least a few months

  • @MRSRON803 haha same here!!

  • Where's da horns at?

  • It's awesome how he's not the type of guy you'd normally expect to play funk. Makes it all the better.

  • nice, now i need a bass :D

  • nothing against this guy but does anyone else find this guy a little dry to be "jamming a funky bass line"?

  • @mielke132 - Dry? Maybe you expect'd a rastafari dude or sumthin', yo?

  • Excellent stuff!!

  • Can I play the bass guitar ! I only play classical guitar ! though

  • If the guitar plays in lets say c minor pentatonic scale. Does the bass have to play the c minor pentatonic scale too for his rif or can the bass only play the first note the guitar plays and the play away from the pentatonic scale or does he even needs to play the first note the guitar plays?

I cant find a video that explains this.

  • good to know

  • no one cares, or you don't care?

  • einfach klasse! sehr gut erklärt und sehr sympathisch der herr vickery

  • i thought that was richard dawkins when the video first came up lol

  • everybody should have access on free videos from you Tommy. are there more videos available to teach aspiring bass enthusiast.. where?

  • what the strap is he using?

  • i've been playing bass in bands since i was 14 (i'm 21 now), and i NEVER listenened to any of these guys in suits that wanna teach you how to rock with mathematics! wanna learn how to rock? just listen to MUSIC, and NOT guys in suits (talking about E7#9 chords and eighth notes). close your eyes and listen and you'll surely learn.

  • i agree man

  • Tahts an aproach but, when you actually study music you realize that...music is math!!! compasses are segments of time filled with different values (notes)

  • yeah, man, actually, you're the one who's right. i just wrote that original comment 'cause i felt like being an arse. learning the basics tecniques and terminology is important, but above all, i still think that, in the end, music is feeling - it's all about whether it moves you or not. =]

  • people that say that did never study music. meroguasa is right, i am learning bass and i want to re learn music first.

  • lol man, teaching music with math..

    BTW i agree wd u

  • nice comment. I just started playing Bass and know one technic and thats for now enough to play Iron man (Black Sabbath) etc...

That´s what I want to play and that´s what I play

    Greetings

  • That's how I learned.

  • Id say a mixture of both is good

  • Thank you TOMMY!

  • Thanks for this lesson!

  • heeyyy, thats my instructor. LOL

  • I wanna know the name of the songs he played with... :D

  • i think is right hand technique is rather good... he picks alternate, but if he plays a string above for example D on A-String and then an A on E-string, he "slides" into it...

it's a rather economic way of playing and recommended by many pros.

  • Right hand technique isn't the greatest.

  • lol nice oneXD

  • nice job man u do it pretty well !

keep going and make more lessons pls ^^

  • one and *clap* two and *clap* three *clap* and four and *clap*

    ROTFLOL

  • great lesson. Thanks

  • i wish i had my base so i can play along

  • they aint so expensive

  • depends how much money you got..

  • depends on where you live, USA, sweden etc.

  • he ain't all that jazz

  • Thanks Tommy. I followed along with you on this lesson. The pattern is nice to hear and play.

  • it might be a great lesson like everyone says but im bored ...

they should have someone with with life in their body for teaching

  • haha nice

    hes like

    almost dead : P

  • great lesson

    thanks

  • Is he using compression, or any other simple effect? I want my bass to sound like this sometimes...

  • is that you or did you just find these videos of a random website. it is a good lesson!

  • re bueno esta pe el video pe mi gente

  • thanks for making videos that people can actually follow along with.

  • i agree 100% with you!!

it's one of my favourite videos to lern pattern and grooves!
