got the blu-ray version of under great white northern lights (if you haven't seen the whole thing you should!) from Netflix and now I find myself watching this song in all BR glory with DTS sound over and over and over again. And not returning the disc. *lol*
Changing the sexuality of the lyrics changes the substance of the song, what makes this not-your-typical-love-song performance is that the general premise and feel of the song mixed with the "Jack White Factor" reflects the message as if it were sang by someone else, someone who holds Jack as very dear to them---might as well been any of us. This fukin' genius took himself out of the equation and has sung us a song without a singer, ergo making the content of the song sublime. Fukin' Prophet
One of the best covers of all time. Obviously not as good as Dolly, but damn did he do it justice! Jack White..... enough said! R.I.P The White Stripes! They were Rock and Roll embodied.
Jack is such a passionate musician, his vocals on this song gives me chills. Such talent amongst 2 people, and I am fortunate enough to be alive to witness, be inspired by, and enjoy it.
I love this rendition of Dolly Pardon's, Jolene. As a little girl I loved Dolly's version and still do. But, Jack ROCKS this song. I get so emotional when I hear the way he sings it. - - Meg is the BADDEST (meaning good) girl on drums and she is so humble and cute. WOW WHAT A TEAM! - - - - - I stayed up all night watching this on tv rewinding it over and over againg on my dish network.
Wild beautiful song...............

The best cover of Jolene ever. Jack White puts an unreal amount of emotion into it. He's so good at everything he does.

Whats with all this RIP White Stripes. I know they aren't releasing any albums anymore, but that DOES NOT mean they are dead.
Kurt Cobain is alive every time I hit play on a nirvana song. So I believe the same will happen with White Stripes.
