Yeah I remember! They land on 'mars', but it's just earth with a red filter before the camera-lens! Than Alien kicks in and the creature becomes as friendly as E.T. in the end so they (the survivors) live happily ever after.
Gar was not evil. He was only frightened because of the crew's reaction to him. When they were able to communicate with him, he was actually benevolent.
@wandererlain yes i kind of like the synth music, it would be even better without these trumpet-like sound - but i guess something needs to add 70s flavour
8:00 That sound is wild. When doing sound for a Flash game I made a similar sound by dragging a hot soldering iron across styrofoam. Long live the ozone layer!
One of my all time favorite sci-fi flicks of the eighties, I owned this on VHS back in the day and had the video release poster on my wall as a kid. Great find!
BringOneOn that film your after is called 'Battle Beyond the Stars' 1980-81 with Johnboy Walton i used to love it when i was a kid its also got 'The Man from Uncle' in it!!!
this might even be the film im about harp on about but if its not whats it called, where the hero is played by the bloke out of the waltons and hes got his own x wing style space ship and he gets other creatures in their spaceships to help, one is the size of a sparrow but very aggressive then theirs 4 telepath aliens with 3 fingered hands and the baddy chops off telepaths arm to use as his own arm, but telepaths strangle him with it so he chops it off, WHATS THE FILM CALLED PLEASE ?1980'S ERA
viewer! sit back and enjoy this!! I HIGHLY recommend you stay through the credits, and read them as they are AWESOME. "filmed entirely in space!" also the theme song is sooooooo fantastic! the composer had just gotten off "the jim henson hour" - a theme song that is very jingly, but then went on to write the theme for "the Tick"!! the production designer, sadly never designed anything better - but did design some sets for "the Untouchables" and "legal eagles".... awesome!
I'm always a sucker for these type of films

I like the way they could always make a handheld device appear futuristic by having it emit an electronic sound when pointed at something.

This could have been a great film if the actors didn't suck so much.

This looks like my kind of movie! Trashy sci-fi horror with a synth soundtrack. Cool.

@hardToSignUpHere I tell you what, this movie is better than the sci-fi bollocks they churn out these days. I find its cheesiness somewhat appealing.
Check out a British sci-fi horror film called Xtro, that has similiar music to this.

@wandererlain thanks for that tip. I also would like to recommend one, Pandorum, the only one decent one i've seen.

@hardToSignUpHere Thanks for the recommendation as that movie sounds great. Like a horror version of a Star Trek episode.

@Azusa109 Seen it. Mostly I'm looking for the cheapies. Movies like Star Crystal, Star Quest etc. The more cheesy and crappy the better.

@Azusa109 Oh yeah, I've heard of that one.
