  • oh my god... how rich is this sound...

  • What a sorrowful song. It makes me nostalgic for a place I have never been to, a friend I have never met and a time that has not come. Thank you @tantsev.

  • Truly magical.

  • Amazing.

I saw Huun Huur Tu live in toronto at the Mod club, either 1 or 2 years ago.

Then just this year, I had the honour of playing on the same stage as them...

I still felt their lingering essence... :P

  • mongol tvua neg ard tumen

  • Amazing...

  • Great song. I listened to it twice. Having lost my mother recently, it was easy for me to relate to.

  • This music makes me stop everything I was doing before and concentrate on listening and trying to understand...

In a way it's very humbling to encounter music like this... I'm not sure if I'm being clear in explaining this, but it feels like an entire life, complete with all its frustrations and insights, has been communicated through this performance.

  • Sound hiccup at 2:42.

  • I just saw them tonight at the Spectrum Theatre in Arlington, VA. I enjoyed every song but this stuck with me most because of the emotion it evokes. It was amazing how people went from laughing and smiling with previous songs to solemn and respectful during this song. Truly amazing and a great performance.

  • almost sounds like an Indian raag

  • and @ 5:00

  • this song makes me want to MURDER. especially the part @ 3:00 .

  • @MIKEREZIN Yeah, why not on yourself then? Ya'll be doin' everyone a favour, 'clundin' ye.

  • Traditional folk music shares a common thread all over the world. Music from the Australian outback, the steppes of Siberia, the Mississippi delta all sing about common experiences in the human condition and beneath the instrumental and stylistic differences lie ultimately the same music. It's so obvious what time and place popular music in the west comes from, and too often this music becomes dated and irrelevant with the passage of time. Music like this always stays timeless.

  • I've never heard so much emotion in a song before.

  • I've lived pretty much my whole life in southern california, but hearing music like this makes me think of the central asian steppe as home, even if only for as long as the song plays.

  • One of my favourite CD's, thank you for putting it here!

  • Does anyone know the title of this song? I have one of their cd's ....somewhere...but I don't think this song is there.

  • @UpcomingJedi i've known it as a "fly fly my sadness"

  • @UpcomingJedi i've known it as a "fly fly my sadness" by huun huur tu and it could be found on an album "Deep In The Heart Of Tuva"

  • simply and utterly stark and achingly beautiful. i feel connected to the universe as i listen and weep in joy? pain? i do not know.

  • song's an all time classic.

the clip reminds me of my summer in tuva. Kyzyl, chadaana, erzin, shagonar, khandagaity, all places that make you feel at the same time more mature and pure. my heart's a tuvan steppe. thanks for uploading this.

  • 2 Persons have no heart

  • I think that we westerners in the last twenty years have been so coddled, so wrapped up in the built environment we don't really escape from, that we have lost touch with ourselves and each other. We have sanitized our humanity.

I have the album but this is the first time I have heard the Huun Huur Tu version in the raw, and it speaks to one's humanity so much more clearly than the Carmen Rizzo version. You're inside the Orphan's head. He's contemplative of his situation. He's utterly alone.

  • @AussieSteveBoyle

Thank you for your kind words! We love this version (even though it's a field recording)

  • I AM SO EXCITED!! I can't wait to see you perform in Singapore in April!! Finally you are coming to this part of the world! We have been writing to our National Arts Council on this! Fantastic news!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

    THANK YOU!!!!!

  • @sueiguanaskin

You must write to the National Council to get a performance? Man, poor Singaporeans living under the authoritarian regime, shepherds and their sheep.

  • lol!

    and you consider yourself "free"?

  • @hugosinnicks

Since I am a citizen of liberal-democratic country, I do consider myself free (I am not sure what yours "free" actually means). I can hold free prostest against my government without threat of going to jail. This is not to say, that I do not respect modernization performance of Singaporean government. But I would rather live poor free life, than as a bird in a golden cage. Take it easy.]

  • @unzicek I also live in a country like yours... but i dont consider our situation as a "poor but free life", i think we all live like birds in golden cages, wood cages, rusty cages, etc...

    :D

  • there is such a deepness in the expression of human feelings. It is does come straight from the center of the beeing, no mind games...

  • has to be a strange sight, nothing but grass as far as the eye can see

  • Beautiful song!

  • very good

  • Huun Huur Tu hasn't recorded similar songs, as far as I know, but the lament tradition has been strong. They're the best to record a song though, so good luck trying to find similar!

  • Muzyka naprawdę poruszająca.

    Jest świetna

  • this song really kills my brain! its to hard to listen to, i never heard such a sad music than that... its so real, i can feel the pain behind his singing.. are there more songs like that?

  • It is not just sadness. It is consolation. You can find these in every Huun Huur Tu song. Listen.

  • Love for the suffering ones.

  • escucho fever ray o mungolian jet set..... Radiohead o Muse, Yma Sumac u otros... pero esto es magnifico.

  • im sorry you were an orphan, must have been terrable, one of my best friends was orphand, we lives family now, i miss him alot.

  • I was an orphan, so it hits the heart

  • That sounds awesome omagine. I wish I could see them. I"m in Australia. This is so sad.

  • I started listening to HHT just recently and i'm in love with their music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know they gave a few concerts in Vancouver, Canada years ago.

Now I wonder if they are planning to come to Canada again?

  • check out the band's web site - there are three songs from a new album Eternal streaming there. It's the album of collaboration with Carment Rizzo, electronic musician from Los Angeles

  • o right it´s great!!!!!!!!!!!

  • there is no way to describe the intense emotional beauty of being in a small room with these men when they perform. the instrumentals and the throat vocals vibrate right through your bones, and the emotion is indescribable. when i saw them at McCabe's in L.A., i couldn't help but weep when they played this. God, i wish they'd come back. Often.

  • i can only hope to compose a song with such feeling and emotion. not sure that day will ever come

  • America walked with them, Westward out of the East. Great thongs of leather led out from the bits in their mouth, and their eyes were circled with rings of exhaustion and shielded by black leather blinders.

Why didn't they ever look behind them? Did they ever wonder why they were so weary and mean? They were all pulling the East with them. - "Was" G. Ryman

  • This video and music so matches the melancholy of the scenes that it is amazing. I can almost feel the wind blowing across the plains and experience the simplicity of life. How wonderful!

  • Nagiz kazakh turik dalasin sezim aituinda

  • in this music, whenever i hear it, i can actually hear people crying.

  • Best HEALING music, thank you: believe in yourself (and God) the Best, ALLAH (KRISHNA) BOEDDAH,(CHRIST)(MOHAMMED)(SOEFI) all the same, come to the center all toghether XXX*****

  • when i was listening this song my mind was free and i had a filling that im in my very owen homeland and you know it is just wandfull and thanks for sharing.

  • I was just listening to this randomly. Even without reading the description one thought came to my mind. My mother and how I miss her. BTW I have no Tuva ancestry nor do I understand the language. Music is indeed our only universal language.

  • and math :s ;)

  • you wouldn't believe how close they are related to each other! :)

  • indeed! math is interesting (not in the way you get at school ;) ) but I like music more :)

  • beautiful. i am anew.

  • This is one of their best songs, you can feel the pain and sorrow that is portraied in this song. T-T

  • guys, it's TUVA, not mongolia ;) Huun-Huur-Tu are Tuvans. tuva not equal mongolia

  • primitive feelings... universal sounds... ancient music.... we all feel the same... we all are one....

  • I keep coming back and listening to this song because it's so beautiful. When I hear it, it's like I can see Mongolia... the mountains, the countryside. It's like I can feel the chilly bite of the wind. I really hope that someday I'm lucky enough to hear this music in person.

  • orpahns because of china killing lots of mongols and removing the right to have a family name.

  • This is so sad and beautiful.

  • more I listen to this more I like it.

  • I am a pretty proud man, but I must admit this song immediately brings tears to my eyes when I hear it! This is as close as it gets to genuine heart felt pain, love, compassion, or any other such words to describe such a beautiful music and people. I feel that much more blessed to have witnessed this! Thank you so much!

  • Fly, Fly my sadness...

    Regards from Romania.

  • This is a favorite song of mine. Great video!

  • very good, i love this.

  • Brings tears to my eyes. Thank you very much !

    Regards from Brazil,

  • another north american here. this music, the land, matched, and existing. no matter what culture you claim - this music can open your heart, if you only open your ears, sit still, and listen.

  • is it just me...or is this one of the most beautiful songs made?

  • Not just you, but me too.. I wish I could understand all they sing in this song. Though then I would probably cry uncontrollably

  • It's beautiful. I think if one agrees with me then one is ought to be sensitive to cultures, have deep respect for most cultures and all peoples of the world. Only 40,00 people see this, but if North Americans saw this it would broaden their horizons in an amazing way. Beautiful emotional song. With Peace from Ukrainian guy.

  • I'm North American.

The problem lies not in all North Americans, but those with incredibly low standards. No one seems to care about becoming culturally enriched or truly spreading diversity anymore. Read about it in High School, then forget about it when Jay Z pops on with his new hit single.

    *sigh*

  • Nice to hear an opinion from a North American:). You know I was tyring not to generalise, it is the easiest thing to do. I a naturalised Australian myself. I really think that it is not very hard to change a situation where many adult US citizens are little aware of the world cultures. Certainly immigrants are a big part of US but it's different. US has some of the best unis and academic organisations that contribute to all of the world in educating people about anything. Cheers.

  • So haunting and beautiful and I would love to see you guys, hope you come to wales one day on tour. I,ve seen other films of you, very much ground braking stuff. Would to know more about your instruments. and hear you talk about yourselves. like you for that amazing sound.

  • Thank you for this song.

    It is full of heart.

    Köszönöm!

  • does anyone have the tuvan lyrics?

  • beautiful =')

  • Here are lyrics.........

As a baby bird who fell from the mother's nest/I will never see my mother agan/

Even if she'd appeared in front of me now/all those years of tears

and suffering without her wouldn't have gone away/... But I will never

    see her again...

  • These are european lyrics to a different song

  • i dont know what it is, but, the tuvans and mongols have so much knowledge encoded into their songs. After you listen you feel changed, and thankful..... and such good looking people, such character and dignity..

  • My heart aches when I hear this song because I to am an orphan and I will never see my mother again.

  • Stunning and beautiful song. Timeless.

  • Moving

  • Thank you, this is a beautiful song, very nice to meditate to.

  • Come visit Mongolia and Altai. It's still so pristine, free and beautiful... before it changes too much.

  • from the altai mountains to anatolian mountains, we've shared the same culture, language, soul and feelings.

  • And we lost much on the way to Anatolia and Balkans my friend.. It is now time to look back and pickup our old, beautiful cultural heritage once we shared with our brothers and sisters in Central Asia and Siberia. It is now time to return to our roots.

  • for this gorgeous melodic heaven, I'd like to send my all regards and honour from turkiye to tuva. This song carrying too much pain and joy in it. just like turkish culture.

  • Türki gardaşlarıma kop selam bolsın

  • why doesnt hht ever come to the netherlands? I guess you dont know either huh? Anyway, am i the only one who thinks alexei is the most stylish member of hht? ;) (no really i do think so)

  • whoooo!!!!! We have a song with the EXACT SAME notes!! Talk about Asian musical heritage!

  • where you're from? can I get this song please?

  • I'm Hungarian from Transylvania. Unfortunatly I don't have the song, because I heard it a while ago from my grate grandmother. :( But try to look for Hungarian folkmusic. I can send you some links if you're interested. You will shurely recognise the connection.:)

  • The Asian heritage of Hungarian music is much studied (ie. by Bartok, Kodaly, Varygas). There are many similar melodies between Hungarians, Mari, Chuvash, Tatars, etc. Between Tuvan music and Hungarian music not so much but both are using pentatonic scales. Hungarian music is more similar to Mongolian music than to Tuvan music.

  • Where can i look up the dates for their tour??

  • their web site

  • yeah, can't wait to see it.

  • 12 songs - 2 hrs.

    out early October

available on HHT tour in Oct-Nov

  • any specifics on the DVD, such as when it'll be out and how do I get a copy?
