I don't really rate Ellie that much as an artist, but this is a cool song. I don't mind the grit in her vocal.. I think both this and the studio versions are great. Ultimately it is the song that is the good / bad thing... and however it is produced or performed, it sounds awesome. An excellent song.

i think she needs to calm down on performing live, her vocals are getting raspy. Sick or not, she just needs to take 6 months off from touring or what ever. It will be annoying for us fans but at least she will get her voice back!

@wereallfakingit1 It's not the fact she's sick, that's how she performs live. Her music doesn't sound like that on CD because it's studio perfect.

I actually prefer the raspy sound in her live vocal. That's only my opinion and i appreciate yours..but yeah..it's studio perfect unless live.

@PolurrBurr what do you mean studio perfect? If you watch her on her first jools holland performance, she sounds exactly the same as on the CD in her early days, but she's toured so much over the last 2 years that I just think her voice has been weakened and over used. At the itunes festival, she sang 'Lights' perfectly, watch it on SNL, and she cant hit any of the notes in the chorus without sounding like a 50 a day smoker. Im not a hater either, I just want her old voice back.

@PolurrBurr: No she's a studio artist that has sold albums based on what she puts on the CD's. She is an "average" singer in the grand scheme of singers out there right now, and as much as I do like what she has recorded, hearing her live is just a big let down. The greats sound just as good if not better live.

Your comment epitomizes what is wrong with most new music that is coming out these days. I feel like you are what you reproduce live if you are putting yourself out there as a vocalist

Even so she nails the notes perfectly (except for the big note at the end) fine so there's nothing wrong with her singing here, it's just a little raspy.
