The smallest are bred with the smallest through generations to create a dog that is genetically small and whose offspring are genetically small. Breeders are not just choosing runts from normal sized litters and selling them off as teacups. Teacups or micro dogs take years to breed.

I have a teacup yorkie and yes she did have a lil Heath problems in the beginning but they grow out of it, she is turning 7 this year and is still hyper:)

Teacups are premature Yorkies, they are super unhealthy and die in a few years. If you want to take care of a dog that has special needs then a "teacup" Yorkie is for you if not don't buy one.

Be aware, they're addictive. My parents have one, let my husband's grandmother hold it and play with it. We had to get a Yorkie too. They keep it in a puppy cut and it looks like a little teddy bear. Super cute.

I have one that's 7 weeks old. He's not a teacup but he's a runt so he's the size of this! He sleeps for 30 mins - 1 hr depending on how long he played... Plays for 20 - 30 mins depending on how long he slept! Very well balanced puppy! :)

My friend has one that's 8 years old and it's just fine! They don't have really high vet bills either. It's a perfectly happy dog! So what if their poorly bred runts which their not. A do is a dog.
