  • you are doing so well on learning chinese! the accent is the most difficult part!

  • Very good!

  • Have you notice that Chinese people never make fun of their "white" accents? I feel so bad when there's "Asian accent" suggested video on the left side of my screen.

You're doing really good =) My english after a month of learning is worse than that :P

  • This no wonder because mandarin is one of the easiest language of the world. Das ist kein Wunder, weil Chinesisch die leichteste Sprache der Welt ist! Jedoch spricht der Typ ziemlich gebrochen. This guy speaks mandarin not fluently. 在世間漢語好象是很容 話!你應該說中文!

  • wat's the big deal for a white man speaking mandarin?

'cos i dont see anyone that alarming when a chinese speaks english.

however, does this prove that chinese r 'expected' to speak english or are we simply just more capable of being bilingual? :P think abt it!

  • @lieder82 It's because English has been becoming a global language so pretty much anyone know English wouldn't be a surprise.

  • @cccEngineer what's going virally global? Have you not realised yet the most spoken language in the world is still Mandarin? English did not even come in 2nd! Spanish came next! Like... SURPRISE!!

  • @lieder82 that's based on population. mandarin is the most widely used language because the majority of human beings are actually chinese..

  • Get a Chinese girlfriend then you can speak Mandarin in no time.

  • I like all the Chinese, but I dislike the use of 'er' because I am learning in Taiwan so they have totally biased me. His Chinese is good, a little pained and slow but very big vocabulary for only a month.

  • it's interesting that there's more canadians trying to learn chinese compare to the states.(judging from youtube videos. =P) maybe because of immigration or maybe canadians are just way more opened to diverse culture! =)

  • @x3cloudii Chinese is very widely spoken in Canada. It's the second most-spoken language in Vancouver, actually.

  • Non-Chinese males who learn Chinese do it for one reason: It makes it easier to fuck Chinese women. Actually, don't really need it, because these Chinese bitches have major yellow fever and are just dying to suck some white cock.

  • @shenzhenprostitute I mean to say these Chinese bitches have major WHITE FEVER.

  • @shenzhenprostitute Mate i dont know where you got your ideas from but you are way of track.

  • @dxfreight I got my ideas from observing the world. Open your eyes and look around .. that's how I got my ideas from. Although white fever is not as rampant with Oriental pussy these days as it was let's say 5 years ago.

  • @shenzhenprostitute Maybe get out of the slums and move in diferent circles. In Australia the Asian people would seldom degrade themselves down to our values.

Also my observation here. Maybe different where you live.

  • @dxfreight My observation mainly applies to areas where economic conditions are good. Yes, I guess it's different where I live,

  • Wow good job! You are really talented if you can pick up so much in one month.

  • one month? good job!

  • Shows that you're trying very hard to learn! Definitely need help with tones and pronunciation. Good job!

  • well done

  • Amazing job, considering chinese is a hard lAnguage to pronounce and you only learned it for 1 month

  • good shit, i give this guy props

  • Don't think all of America is like some of the jokers on here with the foolish comments.

  • learning chinese isn't hard. why because you're using the same characters over and over.

    I like dogs.

    Dogs like me.

    Oh I just learned English!

  • is this an ad? from "Shui Mu Xue She " as mentioned in the description?

  • Well, you can learn anything you want as long you have the interest in it..not just canadian but everyone in the world can learn anything they want..

  • I can't believe that he speaks so well after only one month, he just knows too much grammar and vocabulary...

Wo kaishi xuexi hanyu wuge nian yiqian, buguo wo shuo de chabuduo yiyang a!

  • Look how far he's gotten in just one month! He's got 50% of the accents somewhat correct. Total immersion works!

  • very good for a months work!

  • keep it up.

  • i been learning for months and im no where near this good yet lol

  • VERY GOOD!

  • Did this guy have three teachers at once all for himself? Like private tutors? He is certainly doing a good job.

  • 你很厲害1

  • wow, nice! there's one of those funky accents, but it's amazing for a month's work.

  • Nicely done.. I was in Beijing for 2 weeks and I learned just one phrase, counting to ten and maybe 10 (at most) words.

So you did amazing for 1 month and keeping in mind most anglo (or franco) Canadians find it very very difficult.

    So you rule my friend!

  • you speak more than I do in english.

  • If you know cantonese it's easier to learn mandarin.

  • wow that was great.. esp considering he only learnt the language for a month! there's a really strong non-chinese accent, but at least it's understandable (:

  • good effort! li hai

  • everytime i see a white guy speaking chinese hes better than me T.T

  • Fantastic achievement in such short time! You are right that there are still many words and a lot of grammar you don't know, but with your willingness to learn, it's just a matter of time before you'll master the language! 继续努力,你一定会成功!

  • pitch is the key

  • In the beginning he says he came to China five months ago. 五个月以前。I think he is referring to the time he has been in China. Still impressive.

  • who the heck r u to say canada is america and calling them shitty countries.. R U TRYING TO MAKE ANOTHER WAR..!! people like u.. r the reason, to start another war in the country.. just STFU! canadian doesn't rule nore america. so no one can fight about anything saying our country is better then urs.. were not here to argue about this who rules and whoes better.. were here to watch the guy speak chiniese

  • Yes, If Canada and America destroy eachother, the World will be a far better place. Or, perhaps the people could be spared, if only someone gets rid of their fucking Government.

Also, LEARN TO TYPE YOU WHORE.

  • shut up guys!!! canadian rules! canadian is not American...

we can learn anything we wanna...

    great video.. great job

  • @yijiequ I blame it on the dirty wetbacks and black people bringing the value our country down

  • @TheWinningGambler

the value of the country is brought down by black people and dirty wetbacks? if you're talking about how why other countries our not fond of the US, it's because of its capitalist ideals. Plus, the face of the United States are not these people, oh, and I'm guessing you mean the African-Americans(do not generalize). The face of the United States is the white American. Get your facts straight before making such comments.

  • @tootsiekilla you went off on a tangent irrelevant to my comment. my statement is a statement, a rhetoric. it is neither questionable or debatable.

  • Good effort

  • very good for one month, well done

  • Well for a month's effort, i must say that im pretty impressed! His standards in this video probably needs at least, i dont know, 3 months at least for other people to achieve?

  • for those who think they have mastered the language of chinese try read this :)

  • Coul'd get all of it but it's something about 10 lions being dead. Trial is a matter of interpretation

  • Shishi Shi-Shi-Amur, addicted to lions, lion oath food 10. Acipenser always appropriate, as the lion city. 10:00, 10 lions appropriate city proper. Yes, fitness Amur appropriate city. S, as is the 10 lions, rely vector potential, so that is the death of 10 lions. Pick up is the 10 lion's corpse, proper stone chamber. Shishi wet, so Shi Shi's stone chamber. Shishi Shi,'s only tasting is 10 lions. Food, the only knowledge is the 10 lions, 10 lions really dead. Trial is a matter of interpretation.

  • Shishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishsihishishishishishishishishishi

  • give the guy some credit, after only one month he can speak quite well... chinese is a nice language to learn, I know because I speak a little... wǒ huì shuō yìdiǎn... but I'm still learning.

  • He is pretty good, at least I understand most of his words.

  • Christ ... he's trying so hard, just watching him stresses me out! Good job, not bad for a month tho.

  • This is true, but it seems he is taking his tones seriously. It's painful to hear people who have studied the language for 2 years and they completely forget the tones....

  • thas a lie you cannot learn mandarin in a month mandarin harder to learn than cantonese impossable

  • It depends how hard you try.

If you give it 110% in 1 month, you will do good. If you don't have passion to learn, you will fail.

And this man has passion to learn, my hat is off to him =)

  • You can't even spell "impossable" correctly, shows how much you know.

    >> It's impossible, by the way.

  • Wo renwei ni shi dong Zhong wen xuduo.

  • that's very good, i can't believe that you can reach this level in just one month.

  • i can understand what he says well sorta cause some of his words are like hard to figure out. but then yea.. but thats crazy! actually speaking in chinese after learning it for 1 month! totally crazy

  • I'm learning both chinese and japanese.. and i think japanese is a bit easier than chinese x)

  • How are you doing? I am currently taking up Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, although Korean is the easiest by far. ^_^

  • of course korean is the easiest to learn. its based off of science

  • yeah,,, according to you ( korean)

  • I'm jealous! It's really hard though. I can't cope up with lao shi. =(

    Your amazing man!

  • Really really good! I can't speak Chinese very well but, after one month this sounds amazing haha.

  • man chinese is hard lol, im stayin with japanese haha.

  • one month? you must be kidding ! extremely quick leaner !

  • Keep up the good work :)

  • Not bad (不錯) Keep working on that vowel, u:. Like in Yu3 Yan2 or Han2 Yu3 and those retro-flexes, zhi, chi, shi, ri. That u sound is by far the most difficult for an English speaker to get since it doesn't exist in the English language. I started by pronouncing a long E sound like in "Feet" and rounding my lips into an O shape or like fish lips.

  • one month? bollox you lying canadian twat !

  • Well done, your Chinese is very good. Your vocabulary is amazing! Keep up the good work, you could be the next Dashan!

  • Banging out Chinese like that after a month. Nicely done man!

  • excellent

  • chinese is hard.. but he is so good...

  • oh hindi nga? san? bk8 gnun? tsk tsk kawawa k nmn...nai2yk n 2loy aq su...ahahaha....peace bro! (baka maintndhn karatihin aq) ahehe...

  • huh? mag ingles kn lng kya? ahahaha....

  • wt d fuck he is telling a lie i am in china i know its too difficult to learn chinese in one month he is going to be oversmart ta ma le ge bi ta shi ben dan

  • why you think that you are better ten him???

he really done well! and neednt say bad words!

  • haha not bad for a guy who learn 1 month

  • genius

  • haha does anybody here understands chinese, i do, and he said that he was living in Beijing for 5 months. I dont believe that he was studying just for a month, cause he is using some grammar that he should learn on his 6th or 7th month, anyway he just memoriced some phrases and sentences and he is repeting just that. BTW nice for him, keep learning chinese CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  • wow awesome

  • For a month's learning it's very good.

  • uh...keep learning.

  • is this real..not so sure you?

  • I am also doubting lol

  • 1 month?! pretty amazing man. im sure by now ur pretty good heh? =)

  • He has an expansive vocabulary, but an average accent, Still, very good for just one month's learning!

  • 说得不错

  • i've been doing chinese 2 years and you got alot farther than i did in my first month!! haha

  • "asiantrolls" is a JAPanese, a culture thief.

JAP has stolen A LOT from China and attached their logo on appealing Asian great culture.

    So is "nubjuckie" and "HIM666dark6light".

Hey Jap don't pretend to be European. You are out of our circle in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

  • You should be thanking them for using your culture then. Not offending them.

  • good on ya!

  • Keep it up, real good!加油!

  • good effort keep it up

  • lolol

  • give the guy credit... i don't see your monkey ass on here speaking any new languages!

  • douche.

  • Unbelievable!

  • Only a month? Awesome! My Chinese still sucks despite mixing with China students in my uni after 3 months. Oh well...

  • WOW~~ your chinese is so good.

  • 你學的很好~請繼續加油吧~!!

  • Im glad i got 3 yrs to practice before im gonna move to China =P

    *How you did it??

  • keep practicing man..."practice makes great"

  • good job!I think Chinese's hard to learn because it's opposite from English at many places and the 4 tones.

  • how do you dod it???

  • its good to see some wise westerners learning chinese not only its very rewarding as a lanuage, into the chinese culture and all thats chinese. Learning chinese will also benefit your career greatly with china as an emerging super power being able to speak chinese helps u open many doors bussiness wise, and make u enjoy the chinese ways too.. good on you i hope u get better and continue to enjoy speaking chinese :)

  • Very well done! A couple more months and he'll be as good as Kevin Rudd, the Aussie PM. I hope to be as good as him someday. Mandarin is fun to learn.

  • woh sh co chee weh but im not chinese, im a filipino who spent my whole elementary in a chinese school so basically i speak read write & understand mandarin & fookien before but that was 18 years ago, now i cant even remember most of the chinese language coz i dont have to practice chinese back home, now im learning another language which is french, je parle francaise tres bien! congrats u must be a genius to learn chinese in just a month...

  • ...and quite interesting,it is.and that makes it even easier for people who really want to learn it.

  • Impress, just a month. Good job.

  • i think chinese would be easier if you start from young.

  • Sugoi!Whoops wrong language lol (japanese)

  • I thought he himself said he arrived FIVE months earlier... anyways, that's fast learning! 不错!

  • I am a beginner myself but I have been told from several sources, for an English speaker Chinese is one of the most difficult dialects to master and understand, speaking takes about a year and writing more like three.

For one months study this is excellent, well done.

Have you visited China for any length of time? As often staying for a time in a country can make learning the language much easier.

  • I am a chinese boy,I want to learn english, someone can help me??? We can teach each other~ haha,My chinese is good(I speak it for 20 years!)

Ok,If u like, U can send me message

  • Hello, I'm interested in trying to teach you some English if you're willing to help me learn Chinese! I can't guarantee my English is perfect and I have never tried to teach English before....but its worth a shot!

  • 我能教你中文!(I can teach you chinese!)

  • 我能帮你的忙! 我会教你英文!

  • Wow nice progress....

I couldn't speak Japanese fluently even after learning it for 4 years...

  • tragedy

  • ur pretty gd

  • Very good for a one-month learner!

    Keep it up, real good!

    加油!

  • PLEASE TELL ME WHAT PROGRAM YOU ARE LEARNING FROM

are you in china? or using rosetta stone or something similar?

  • Very impressive, keep up with the studies. Very intelligent to have learned Chinese in a month. Good luck!!!

  • You and your anti-chinese comments again...your profile says you're in the Philippines, you are aware that makes you "Asian" in the eyes of almost everyone, right?

How would you like if someone started saying things about "flips" or "pinoys?"

Did some Chinese person hurt your feelings in the past, or what?

  • You should be ashamed of yourself.

  • 3000 chinese characters are enough for daily communication.

chinese is not complicated as you imaged.

  • Is this sarcasm?

  • of course not

  • Shui Mu Xue She?? wheres that any website?

  • Wow! Very Impressive for 5 weeks of study! Keep it up!

  • Correction, Chinese is an easy language to learn if you put the effort and time into studying it.

  • Everything is easy if you put effort and time into it. The reason some things are difficult is because some people are lazy.

  • I am jealous! He only studied 5 weeks!!! waaaa! His accent is really bad. But he knows a lot, impressive. I never had any teacher. I studied Chinese on my own and I stayed in China 2 years. I understand what he says but I am not very good (of course my accent is quite good but I never seem to learn a lot). :-(

  • 你是在中国带的在哪里?

  • CHINESE IS SO EASY

  • speak very well!

  • It's hard to get a good grasp on Mandarin pronunciation quickly, and this is a whole lot better than most of what I've heard from English (or Cantonese, or Korean) speakers learning Mandarin.

  • He sucks this video is a hoax. This guy was in China for years. Lol

  • 其实中文超简单阿!!

  • hes not tryin with the accent / tones..

  • 1 MONTH!!! Holy cow! Way to go buddy! People are prob honking at him for driving "way too good" in China!

  • I want to learn Mandarin or Cantonese one of these days. However, for anyone who things that is difficult, try learning Thai like I am! Even though I can speak Lao, learning Thai is just baffling. Chinese languages have nice, smooth, fluent transitions between words, very few consonants, mostly vowels. Thai has all the pitch-jumps and tonations but without the smoothness between words.

    Anywho, nice video.

  • Ya but Thai has an alphabet, chinese you have to learn several thousand characters just to write a friggin email.

  • Ya, true enough. However, I'm talking about just verbal, not literary challenges. Even speaking Lao (or Thai-Dam), languages I was raised with, sometimes I have to really pre-think long setnences or speeches, not for what to say but how to say it. The farthest I ever got in Mandarin was "Nee hao, wa jaow NukSooLang. Wo shi Canada ren."

    Then I gave up.

Oh well, one language at a time. Don't want my head to explode (any further).

  • not bad for only one month of learning! Come on, dont be so picky on him,I start learning english since year 4,but I still have a funny accent.(maybe coz all the chinese english teachers have funny accent too?)

  • what is he talking about in chinese..?

  • His vocabulary is great for 1 month of learning but his tones are horrible (at the time this video was made), I hope he worked on them. Most Chinese people are too polite and always tell foreigners that their Mandarin is really great so it can be quite difficult to get corrected when you make a mistake.

  • Chinese people will correct you indirectly. They will often repeat words that are mispronounced with the correct tones and sounds back to you. you just need to listen.

  • Thank you.

  • hmmm

another dorky white guy learning chinese to get a chinese girl

sorry man....you accent is worst than my grandparent's english
