how do you vibrato by using your voice? I've always tried so many times but I always end up straining my voice and from time to time my voice changes to a much deeper sound I guess. So, that's bad right? Because I sing in a straight voice, no voice lessons at all and I try to copy the song including the high notes. So if you can tell me anything else that I can do to prevent damaging my voice to the point that I cannot speak. Please comment back or something, please, I really need your advice ty

Right now I am training as an opera singer. I am in my second semester of graduate school. My undergraduate degree was in music business. But I have always loved singing. I've just finished a recital and I now working on preparing my first opera role as Ferrando in Cosi Fan Tutte by Mozart.

She was/is a gift. I wish she had been an opera singer. She would have been one of the greatest singers in the opera world, right up there with Caruso, Callas, Horne, Sutherland and Pavarotti.

Yes,I am a singer, rare voice at that. Im a Dramatic Coloratura Tenor (Most people would say that they have not heard of this voice or its made up) The Dramatic Coloratura Tenor is a Tenor who can has the power of a Dramatic tenor with the range of barition-Soprano but can also be lyrical when need. I bet you must think that their is know such thing, Well there is. To imagine one, Put these artist all in one and then you can come up with a good speculation.

Well lets just say that I can sing just about every piece of rep. that these singers sing. Kathleen Battle,pavaratti,Joan Sutherland,Franco Corelli, Birgit Nisson, Andrea Bochelli, Maria Callas, . In the pop arena, I can sing thing likt Aretha Franklin, Mahalia Jacksons, Albertina Walker, Steve Wander, Al green, Smokie norful, donnie Mckurkland and many other. Note when singing pop music or any other non classical peice, I use classical techinique which lets me sing without bad technique

I have vibrato when I back off on a note to make it softer (I'm a mezzo soprano, trained for 3 years privately), but not when I sing in my middle/chest voice, which is where I'm most strong. Will it develop eventually or am I screwed?

Yes, it will eventually develop. Have you worked on your lower registers much, especially with your voice coach? If you don't have a vibrato there, then you could work on relaxing your muscles in that pitch range (in conjunction with breath support in that range). Just don't push it; when you're relaxed, the vibrato is just there. Best of luck to you! :)

What does it mean when they say your dark voice?

Dark is the way a voice naturally sounds, for example a Saxophone has a darker sound than a trumpet, although they may be playing the same note.

Tremelo is usually result of hyper super pharyngeal pressure. Try yawing when your singing... or chewing.

hi, i don't have great range so that when i try to sing most songs using my normal (chest) voice i have to really force the high notes, i know this isn't good for me but i don't know if i've caused any permanent vocal damage yet, is there a way that I can tell if i've damaged myself?

also, i think i've been doing vibrato in a wrong way, such that I use my diaphram. I hear d this is really bad but i don't know how i can fix it, do you have any advice for me?

you shouldn't 'make' vibrato happen... in so many words. Vibrato is a result of everything working the way it should. When you are totally relaxed, vibrato will happen...it's when you try to make vibrato happen that the problems arise.
