I saw an interview saying it was more of a technical problem, not anything to do with his vocals chords.

He stated that he had starte dusing in ear-headphones to hear himself growling, and he didn't like the sound he would hear so he was overcompensating trying to make his growl harder. It didn't work, but he says he can growl fine now.

Not sure if I believe him though.

@MusicSportsPolitics If you watch the videos from Wacken '08, you can see that his growls were definitely on the way down anyway. The ear monitors make for a nice distraction, but I find it hard to believe that he can pin all of his vocal shortcomings on them.

I mean have you listened to his growls in 2011, I mean REALLY listened to them. He doesn't carry them anymore. Just search Sonisphere Master's Apprentices 2011. It's pretty rough.

I also don't think he'll be able to keep up with Bloodbath in convincing fashion as well. Sad but true. Everyone moves on...it just sucks.

I was apparent even before this, his voice during the albert hall was where I first noticed it. He voiced technical problems but it's the actual voice which is just awful now...seems I'm not the only one who thinks so.

He was going to a great direction when his voice started getting fuller and deeper but then it all changed for the worse. It's disappointing that he doesn't put much effort on his growls anymore.

For God's sake... If you watched some interviews with Mikael in the past few months you would know what happened to him at 2011. with Bloodbath. His voice is not fucked up, he had some ear plugs while he was playing and he couldn't properly hear himself. He didn't even know that he sounded that way so he used a different technique without even knowing it. And also he said that he had a sore throat after the show, which he never did before. Don't worry.

@brkkovi Yeah I watched the interview, but it's obvious that's not the real reason, 'cause his voice has been like that almost two years, and I'm pretty sure a sore throat don't last two years, besides if it would have been a technique problem he'd been growling very brutal since the moment he realized about it, so the only explanation here is that his voice is fucked up, and I think its sad, cause he's a genious and I admire him a lot, so its a shame those legenday growls are now extinct.
