I can see your point...skipping a whole portion could be very useful for a short run, it's just too bad that skipping more likely than not can/will cause game crashes or freezes due to game confusion. Skillfully done jumps/landing in the desired spot.
Yeah, sorry that was just a thought. I heard you say somewhere that with the DB costume you can do Poseidon's Challenge before Atlas. Could you do Poseidon's then come back to the rings, climb the ladder and access the tunnel to skip directly to Hades Challenge with the Trident in hand?
I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think that after getting the trident you can't backtrack from CoP. A door closes behind you at some point, and the previous area ceases to load itself. There's a chance it could work, though.
The sacrificial room might remain loaded if you didn't approach the next area after getting the Trident. Then, if it would be possible to get through the door (indeed, if the door is even shut at this point), you could backtrack. A lot of "ifs"...
You won't likely be able to return back to the temple as you cannot swim..then again..you show that the R2 actions where you swim WILL NOT work if you aren't swimming when they come up to them. You would need a sequence break for each such part..without the ability to swim..many parts don't seem possible without another sequence break.
I had a method to get back into the underwater tunnel. Getting out of there was the real problem though, at least on New Game, and I still needed the skull... which may have been worthless without the Trident.
I didn't remember you actually had to return through the underwater passage, but I remember tried exiting the other way but couldn't. Damn. But I still haven't given up hope...
I haven't played in a few monthes but I spent a considerable while playing the first..over 2 years. Likely why with my memory..I can still recall things given enough time to recall them on my own.
I'm impressed you were able to reach the underwater tunnel on your own. However, there is a faster and simpler way to reach it. Just face the ladder and jump to the right, and you should land on top of the wall below. From there, walk to the right along the wall and eventually you'll fall into the abyss, then into the tunnel. Proceed as normal.
Also, in the upper left corner of the Minotaur Boss chamber you can enter into the wall using the "infinite jump" (what I called it). From there, see if you can reach the chamber with the skull. I couldn't reach it because of some weird loading trigger, but I still think you should give it a shot. However, there are still problems with proceeding after that and the problem I worried about the most was whether Kratos could even place the skull in the statue door without the Trident.
As for the infinite jump, I did not use it in my NEW GAME time attack because I just couldn't see how it would save time because it costs many orbs and takes forever to skips things, though there are many wonderful skips with it. I'd recommend testing it with the Cow costume, which has TRUE infinite magic if I recall correctly. I never bothered testing it that way because I preferred playing under New Game settings.
I've already commented on that at The Ultimate God of War_II_Union board... pun intended. It's hard for me to believe that I was unable to inspire anybody in that community to play God of War, and even after they viewed every second of my time attack. The bias there is clear.
TUGOWUII..sounds like something my best friend would say when he feels like bitching at me about how he doesn't understand why I like consoles so much more then PC titles he plays *FPS/RTS*..
I spent over 2 years playing GoW1 in almost every way up to the point of Artemis mastery..but because there isn't any focus on returning for Speedruns *or speedrunning in general*..it shows bias for GoWII?
Sure the others have moved on as there aren't any of us that are hardore AND disliked the second title so we are raping the new one as we did the first.
There aren't any sequence breaks to be had so it playing into easier to understand territory.
I have a SoD FAQ to do. Give me a little time and I will be back to GoW1..just not for a speedrun *lol*
"TUGOWUII..sounds like something my best friend would say when he feels like bitching at me about how he doesn't understand why I like consoles so much more then PC titles he plays *FPS/RTS*.."
Well, that's because I was bitching. It was a joke and you shouldn't take it seriously. But I think it's more than clear the board prefers GoWII. I even said it in my first post there.
Between you and shenminiu, I cannot always recall which new master level player does what at all times. It won't take much longer for the memory to be less..fleeting.
You should realize that most members do not post. The ones that do either post for Witty Caption or do NURs. Recently the focus has shifted to Speedruns but we feel things in GoW1 are largely resolved *more so after your run* so there is no desire to return to it for a Speedrun.
I alone will return but just to record attack damage numbers and try out a few things as I don't enjoy Speedrunning nearly as much as discussing/viewing it
~By and large there are only a few hardcore players there and only a few actually like Speedruns *where as most enjoy NURs*
I keep hearing the word infinite tossed around..Dairy Bastard has infinite magic..what the exploit allowed was just "regenerating magic". They aren't the same yet people keep using the word "infinite"..gives the wrong idea.
Like, yeah, its JUST regenerating magic. What's the big deal, right?
Anyway, infinite was never the right word, yes. However, the fact that Kratos' magic regenerates infinitely is enough for me, and probably everybody else on the planet. Plus, it just sounds better.
Infinite is strictly superior to regeneration of that rate. The trick is phenomenal but sayig it grants "infinite" magic *as others imply by using that word* is at the very least misleading.
Sounds better..yes..but I don't like the idea of an empty promise..regenerating is the only honest word to describe what occurs..if you like you can say "infinetely regenerating" without any fuss on my part >_>
~To me that is like saying a Homerun/Punt/Spike deal infinite damage to a lauchable target *so long as they are instant killed by the environment it is true to an extent..just not in any other case* It would depend on how you look at it.
"Infinite is strictly superior to regeneration of that rate. The trick is phenomenal but sayig it grants "infinite" magic *as others imply by using that word* is at the very least misleading."
I called it Infinite Magic because that was probably the closest I was ever going to get to infinite magic in a New Game. Still, I've always understood your rationale for calling it something different. You could have chosen something a little more user-friendly though, "Regen Magic" for instance.
Indeed it doesn't get any closer without the use of Dairy Bastard.
I'll leave the user friendly names to you. IF you hadn't noticed..I'm not the most user friendly person. I do go aroud trolling from time to time after all. I've recently started up again..light work only though.

The game will not crash from skipping areas in God of War, generally speaking.

i bet the creators never thought anyone could do this stuff

I would try it myself but I haven't figure out how to get to Poseidon's Challenge first, yet.
Leessen 4 years ago
You can, but you need all the skulls in order to get to the upper pandora, so Atlas's Challenge is necessary to complete.
AKheon 4 years ago
Do an "infinite jump" (easiest with Blade of Artemis air combos + Poseidon's rage) until you get over the outer ring's edge to the inner sections.
AKheon 4 years ago
Have you tried getting the trident and backtracking to this spot and accessing the tunnel? That may still save time in the end.

But yeah, it would save time. BTW, check out the next video in the series. It shows an easier way of doing this sequence break.

Just to update on the situation, I tried it out and it isn't possible.

The item you skipped was Poseidon's Trident.

I don't have much interest in the game anymore but I'll try to keep up with what you are doing. Good luck.
By the way, in my mind, higher jump = Super Jump and longer jump = Athens Jump. Anybody can them whatever they want, though.

No interest? What about GoWII?
They had to be dubbed and you sort of skimped over it so it got done for you <_<
