Drilling is a great way to get little more low frequency noise. I've drilled the exhaust on a few bikes and the only way I'll get an aftermarket exhaust on a bike is if I buy one with an aftermarket exhaust now.
dude be really careful about drilling holes in ur exhaust. over a few months, it can severely damage your valves by bending them if theirs not enough back pressure. not trying to rain on your parade, just looking out for a fellow rider.
@frostyisag10 Thanks for the advice but this is something I really looked into before doing this mod. The answer I found was that back pressure is only a big deal on 2strokes. This FZ6 still has 2 catalytic converters built into the header pipe which will provide way more than enough BP. Also note that there are plenty of aftermarket exhausts that are more free-flowing than this mod.
@frostyisag10 Damaging your valve from "lack of backpressure" on a fuel injected, closed loop four stroke is not going to happen. Valves get damaged from lean mixtures burning too hot. Lean mixtures happen because there's not enough fuel being injected. On a system where exhaust is measured and the map is adjusted that's just not happening.
It happened on old, crummy carbs that relied on backpressure to push intake air back through the carb for a second pass, but no one uses that.
Drilling is a good way, and this video is proof it does work on stock cans. I have ridden a few FZ6's and I must agree they are a little quiet compared to some other 600's stock pipes, Removing your Cat's will also make it a little nicer as nice as it sounds now it's choice really, My boss just bought a Millie and from removing the Cat from the stock can to now it's a whole lot different. Nice bike also.
i also have an fz6 2005 and this looks a brillant idea, cos racing exhursts are so expensive i was looking for one but gave up since it was going to cost me £300-£900, but with drilling exhurst is it legal for the MOT, will it pass on the gas emisson bit??
@Hmsfirefox This wouldn't effect emissions. The FZ6 has two catalytic converters built into the header pipe. Are you sure they really do emissions tests? If you do just remember to use a 22mm x 300mm bit to get the same result as me. Anything smaller will sound like crap apparently.
defenetly a improvement and listening to it thue pc speekers its not even to loud. i got a motard on mine and its not a freeflow but a oldtimer classic IT SUCK and kills the rews
Loud pipes saves lives FACT! Sounds fantastic with a racing sound would never guess what it is until it passes:-) Nice vid with the back and forth soundcheck LQL +1
I noticed a definite difference in the sound.I like how it sounds after you drilled the baffle. Was there a any improvement in the performance after you did it?
@vac0002 The only worry of that is on 2strokes. 4stroke only need very little backpressure. There are aftermarket cans that are more free flowing than this mod.
Haha!!! I've done that before on my 05 600RR I ride now. I started just like you then a week later I cut a little more Then a week after that I cut a whee bit more till it was unbearable... Not even ear plugs could help. It created some kind of sound vibration that shock the ear drums. ugh... But man did it sound great... LMFAO!!!
@heald111111111111111 Do your homework first mate! For the Fazer this is a known mod with a decent results. Doing this to a diff bike might leave it sounding like a permanent fart (or a raspberry sound).
@heald111111111111111 Tried it with my DT125 and it just makes a horrible rattle sound! i don't recommend it on a 2 Stroke if you're thinking of getting one.
@heald111111111111111 Don't do this mate. You'll make your 125 sound like a vibrating teapot.
Its debatable if its better on the FZ6. Its lower frequency sure but it just sounds like you've got a knackered exhaust. Shame man, FZ6 is a damn nice bike. :(
Loud exhausts are debatable on saving lives. Granted in your filtering vids through stationary traffic, it'll probably help get above the noise of the radio but in general riding, you hear it once the bike has passed you or its already too late
@heald111111111111111 depends on the bike really pretty much sure not to have any luck doing something like that with an enduro exhaust or a single cylinder bike exhaust , then again , if your on your CBT there probably no point even trying cos the sound will NEVER be as nice as THAT :)
"No bum comments"... my video froze excacly on your arse.

pulse0000 8 months ago
@pulse0000 It felt like the bike was revving quicker and had more poke on the road but that could just be the imaginary butt dyno effect.
187Premises 8 months ago
why dont you just take out the baffle?
kerbao 8 months ago
@kerbao because you need a wielding torch and a lot of time to do that.

@187Premises Why is your back wheel moving when your in nuetral? Is it just vibrations on the bike? surely it cant be in gear...
jimbo80982 8 months ago
@jimbo80982 It's normal for most bikes to spin in neutral while revving it. It's to do with gear friction against the counter shaft.
187Premises 8 months ago 9
@187Premises Then its like a spin with no power behind it?
jimbo80982 7 months ago
@jimbo80982 Exactly. I could of stopped it with my foot. Most bikes you see getting revved are on the side-stand so nothing happens.
