the bass drum is barely picked up at all..can the zoom h2 be configured to pick it up better? (i know nothing about recording and am thinking about buying one of these)
Wow, This is great for just a box in a room. Think I'll get one to record practices and song writing. Best thing on Earth is playing something without thinking and someone going, "wait! Do that again!" when you can't even remember what you played and no matter HOW MUCH you try you'll never get the riff back. Which is confirmed by the person saying, "Nooo... the bit AFTER that." then "No! Before THAT bit... it kind of goes like... *insert atonal, yet passionate, humming*" -_-
@flippytheleper I don't think he hit the splash, because a splash doesn't sound like that. What I think is that they played the song on multiple takes and they edit the video so much... the audio could be from a separate take.
this is a load of crap, my band is no where as loud as LOG and the H2 would distort at points through our songs, so I sold it. I spent considerable time trying to get a good result, got advice from the forums, tech support, but still was unsuccessful. and we only have moderate size solid state amps and a quiet drummer.
nice to have around when jamming, but it didn't quite capture the bass drums and maybe it's the video compression, but it sounds a bit too low quality for a dedicated recording device.
@ImperialArmour Dedicated, no. But useful for quick jam sessions/people starting out who doesn't have a lot money for a professional recording studio, yes.
@ImperialArmour you can record in almost everything from 128 mp3 to 96khz/24bit, which is more than you need with a handy recorder. I use it to track vocals and it works fine. You get a pretty crisp sound from it.
yeah dued its going to be a sick ass show I just saw them a few months ago in NY with metallica, and LoG stole the show hands down, and I love metallica
Dude ur such a loser, no one cares what genre they are, but if u want a genre its metal. People who pick bands over genres are absolute losers nd posers.
I ordered one, and it will be here on Monday. I plan on taking it down to the jam sheds here in Everett, WA to see how loud it can really handle. Ill let you know. (Lots of metal bands at the sheds)
i would not really recommend it for taking to shows & recording bands mate, if your doing that you really need to be taking a recording straight from the mix on the sound desk.
its a great recorder for use in a closed room when your jamming out ideas in a band, you can get Very good quality recordings with experimentation.
Does it also work well with vocals? I'd be interested in using it so you can review rehearsals, cause I'm going in with my band for an EP recording session and I'd like to make sure we're up to scratch. An old school pro-musician friend of mine said recording rehearsals was really great for working on the material and making sure everything is on par.
He smiles all the time, when you're playing an instrument your facial expressions are the last thing you're thinking about, until you think about them
aye but i'm talkin bout stuff like photo shoots and videos, not live performances...maybe i dont look up enough lamb of god but still, if the chilis taught us anything its that smiles are easy to do :P
Ah but Chilis music has different vibes to Lamb of God songs. Those pics are all 'we mean business' pics, Chilis would be more like 'We're fun!' and stuff. Its the bands persona.
"...untill you think about them"....that sums it up perfectly, and its also the worst and most pointless thing you can be thinking about when playing!
Does anyone know if one of these would be good for recording a concert. I'm going to see Lamb of God soon and I'd like to have my own bootleg. Also would the Zoom H4 make much of a difference over the H2? Thanks for any help!
english is fine man, i dont own an H2, but have been watching tons of videos about it...i dont think you can plug it into the H2, but the audio quality will be fine from the amp, besides, using the amp allows you to keep your effects and stuff.
make sure you experiment where you place the mic i usaully like the center with drums and the the amps equal distance then i upload the mp3 file to my pc then put it in mixpad and put a 10 band eq to it and it has big balls!
you guys give the ZOOM H2 more justice than ANTHRAX did in their promo video.

zoom h2 = good for recording ideas by yourself and with band so you can work them into songs and not forget anything.
zoom h4 = good for recording low quality demos to give out at shows and spread your bands music.
finalfantac 2 years ago 3
probably should of turned down frequency first to pick up chris's kicks.
SICKKKK quality though!
helton55 3 years ago
i love the way chris adler's drums sound. His snare is like a jackhammer. too bad you can't hear bass drums.....

i cannot hear the double bass, which is a shame cuz the double bass in this song kicks SO much ass.

can i also plug my guitar in the H2?
or does it sound good if i put it in front of my amp and record, or would it be too noisy?
(sorry for my english)

mine was $400.00 for the H4, the H2 (which is in this video) is $180.00, good luck!
JHBassist 3 years ago
Yeah definetly. Use it for full band or single instrument, good all the way.
Check out my clip with H2. Seperate instruments recorded by H2.
