Did Phil collins sing any of the songs when Peter Gabriel was still in Genesis? It seems pretty lucky that their drummer would be such an awesome singer, and be such a good replacement.

He added some lyrics in the 'Lamb Lies Down On Broadway' but he was mostly just the drummer while Gabriel was there.

Originally he wasn't a brilliant singer, and if you listen to early post-gabriel songs they are quiet slow, as collins hasn't learned them/doesn't feel as confident, but he has improved greatly!

Phil Collins drumming abilities are sadly overlooked sometimes.

Especially performing live with Peter, he often played some very complex drum parts while singing. Very few people can do that well.
