Don't get me wrong, I think that really killed him, but maybe it was for the best. What really gets me is that, given a second chance, they STILL didn't say a proper goodbye! I mean, he leaves while she's kissing the clone! Maybe that's ok for her, because she's still sort of got him, but dammit he needed the peace of mind that would've given him.

Davies made Rose look as more important character than all other characters (especially the other companions) even more important than the Doctor was in a few episodes. I think it's one of the reasons why some people hate her. But she deserved to be very important in my opinion.

There are things that people go through together that inevitably form bonds. When your girl takes your ship's time vortex, and you have to make out with her to save her life, well, they help. I would definite burn up a dying sun just to see my girl one last time. Someone should make a video with the song "Long Distance" written by Bruno Mars to fit this occasion.
@akumatekkusu666 Martha was a great companion. I love Rose, but if she would have went up against the Master she would have killed him. Rose does what is easy instead of what is right. Martha did the right thing in not killing the Master. The Doctor didn't want him to die anyway because he cared about him and he still feels guilty about the timewar. Rose wouldn't have been able to do what Martha did at the end of season 3. Only Martha could have had that self control that she did.
@akumatekkusu666 I know if Rose had been there when the Master did that to the Doctor she would have attacked him and I don't blame her because that's what I wanted to do at the time, but Martha had that self control and did the right thing. Martha doesn't suck as a companion so I think you really missed something while watching the show. She was always useful, helpful, caring, empathetic, and she made the Doctor a better person. The only thing that was irratating about her was her crush
@akumatekkusu666 on the Doctor which she got over by season 4 and she wasn't even the one who brought up her crush on the Doctor. I think she mentioned it...twice. The rest of the time it was Tallulah or Jack or someone bringing it up. Not to mention, the Doctor was irratating too that season with him constantly mentioning Rose and acting like a child the whole time. Thank god both of them grew up by the end of the season.

@Zephyrmoonz Well it was nice that you stood up for Martha, but then my appreciation was lost for that when you turned your back on what you said. I love Martha. She was a fantastic companion and just when I spot someone else that likes her you decide you don't lik her anymore because someone told you not to. I'm more loyal. I love all the companions, but Martha was remarkable. Atleast I still appreciate her. I'm not so easily swayed just because someone disagrees with me. :)
@TheVelma16 Of course Martha was sad and mopey. The Doctor was so cruel to her. I'd be upset if the Doctor was always talking down to me too. Martha isn't allowed to have feelings now? Besides, RTD made it that way on purpose because he was showing us how Martha went from girl with a schoolcrush on her teacher to how she became grown up and got out of Rose's and the Doctor's shadows. I love Rose, but Martha was truly amazing in her story.
@Meangrl19 yeah but it was so annoying! i mean his friend is trapped in a parallel world and all she cared about was him loving her. when she went into UNIT all of a sudden she was remorse-ful to him. he was still trying to move on and she was putting on pressure that wasnt needed (either that or she need to stop letting her mom meet the doctor. too much arkwardness) yeah she can have feelings but dont be so sad look on the bright side at least he didnt DIE.....
@TheVelma16 I know. I was irratated with both of them that season about that though. Even though I missed Rose dreadfully it got irratating that he kept bringing her up and if you rewatch the season Martha doesn't point out very often that she likes him. I know in Gridlock I thought she didn't like him any more because she didn't mention it or act upon her feelings in that episode and Tallulah and Jack brought it up to her before she didn't bring it up to them.
@TheVelma16 You also need to remember that the Doctor did not confide in Martha about Rose. Martha probably assumed Rose left him to go stay behind with her family. Martha just knew she had feelings for him and that Rose and him were apart. Just because we knew what happened to Rose doesn't mean that Martha did. She didn't see what we saw. I'm thinking she assumed that Rose left him and he was upset because Rose broke up with him.
@TheVelma16 Well he treated her horribly the entire time they traveled together. The reason why Martha was putting 'unneeded pressure' on him was his own problem...not Martha's. He wanted to keep his distance from Martha because he didn't want to care about her and lose her like what happened with Rose[and no I'm not implying that he loved Martha]. However, he took martha with him because he kinew Donna was right and that he needed someone and he 'owed' Martha

He talked down to her and made her feel bad about herself. Unfortunately, he did care about her and by the end of season 3 he had grown up and was ready to make it up to martha and be his old self again and then Martha left him. He had to watch Martha walk willingly out of that TARDIS looking the happiest we'd ever seen her and joy that she was leaving him. That must have really hurt him! Not to mention he knew

At the end of Utopia Martha finds out that Rose is in a parallel world because the Doctor tells Jack. However, that is not until the end of the season with martha as a companion. No, I think you need to pay attention when you're watching the episodes and try to be more empathetic. You seemed to have missed the whole point of Martha and of the story.....
@TheVelma16 Quite the opposite Martha was never sad or mopey that was the probelm because she should have told the Doctor off many times but she trusted he Doctor too much. The only time Martha was sad was during the last two episodes "The Sound of the Drums" and "Last of Time Lords" and even then she didn't cry outright. If the Rose character had to endure half of what Martha did she would have been weeping and wailing at the Doctor most of series 3.

@hattiehoneybadger Martha Jones was an amazing companion who helped the Doctor in his time of need after he lost Rose. That is very crass and just shows how low of a person you are that you say you wish someone should drop dead. Especially someone as sweet and caring as Martha.

Actually.. I think Donna takes the cake. She has some absolutely hilarious scenes that put The Doctor on the defense/sidelines for the first time in the whole series (modern). She's so much like him at times and so independent I love it. I used to hate her, but she's gotten quite brilliant :D

sob first time I watched the flashback bit( i always refer to it as that now) i gasped in pity and was like OMG. Second time, three months later i watched that bit I felt real sick, and turned DVD off immediately. so sad its his expression - amplified by chunky glasses! lol

aww, that part at the end of runaway bride where he says 'her name was Rose' just breaks my heart... he looks like he's about ready cry. I actually hated Martha for a really long time in series 3. @TheVelma16 it would hurt when he lost her too. Unfortunately, he did care about her and by the end of season 3 he had grown up and was ready to make it up to martha and be his old self again and then Martha left him. It must have hurt worse than losing Rose because Rose had to be torn apart from him. He had to watch Martha walk willingly out of that TARDIS looking the happiest we'd ever seen her and joy that she was leaving him. That must have really hurt him! Not to mention he knew

@TheVelma16 all along that it was his fault. Even if she didn't have to go back to take care of her family, they both knew she still needed to leave him. He was just horrible to her. No he has to live with the regret that he didn't get to know that wonderful girl who cared so much about everyone and he has no happy memories of her. He has to live with that regret all his life. I should feel sorry for him, but I don't because it was his own fault. Good for Martha for leaving that

@TheVelma16 tradgedy of a life behind to take care of her family. As for UNIT, I don't even understand what you're talking about. When Martha was in UNIT she was over her crush on him. I hope you don't think I'm referring to Martha's unrequinted 'love' when I said he was cruel to her. That's not what I meant. I am talking about the Doctor always talking down to her, treating her like dirt, and making her feel horrible about herself. Sorry for the long post.

@Meangrl19 well he does seem do bring her down a lot. in a arkward yet funny way....and at least she brings him down after he does it...and he wasnt able to bring her down when donna was there...also when all of them met when they all met davros martha sounded like she thought rose was dead when she saw rose...so he may or may not told martha that rose was in the parallel world and couldnt come back...(but thats just me)

@TheVelma16 Hmm, no. There was nothing funny about how he treated Martha badly. No, Martha never brings him down or makes him feel bad. He wasn't able to bring her down when they were with Donna because he learned his lesson from the way he treated Martha last time. That and Martha made him a better person so he wasn't a jerk anymore after season 3. Yeah, you need to watch Doctor Who again before you comment about it. The Doctor told Martha that Rose was with her family and happy.

@TheVelma16 So Martha KNEW Rose was not dead and in Journey's End she said he found you. That doesn't sound like Martha thought Rose was dead...... So you hate Martha about something that you don't even know what you're talking about. Sorry, that sounded a little mean and I didn't mean it to come out that way. You just really need to rewatch it before you got hating Martha for something she didn't even do. She said he found you because she was happy that the Doctor had found Rose

@TheVelma16 and they were together again. From what we've seen he did NOT tell Martha that Rose was in a parallel world. At the end of Utopia Martha finds out that Rose is in a parallel world because the Doctor tells Jack. However, that is not until the end of the season with martha as a companion. Yeah, sorry I apologised for the long posts. I want to elaborate so I get the point across though. Hopefully, you took the time to read it.

@TheVelma16 As a matter of fact I'm studying psychology which must be the reason why I observe and understand the characters like Martha better than everyone else seems to and I want to become a writer. No, I think you need to pay attention when you're watching the episodes and try to be more empathetic. You seemed to have missed the whole point of Martha and of the story.....

@TheVelma16 Quite the opposite Martha was never sad or mopey that was the probelm because she should have told the Doctor off many times but she trusted he Doctor too much. The only time Martha was sad was during the last two episodes "The Sound of the Drums" and "Last of Time Lords" and even then she didn't cry outright. If the Rose character had to endure half of what Martha did she would have been weeping and wailing at the Doctor most of series 3.

Actually.. I think Donna takes the cake. She has some absolutely hilarious scenes that put The Doctor on the defense/sidelines for the first time in the whole series (modern). She's so much like him at times and so independent I love it. I used to hate her, but she's gotten quite brilliant :D

@DoctorWholvr2 Martha wasn't horrible at all. She was amazing and she helped the Doctor in his time of need after losing Rose and she made him a better person. Even Tennant said Martha saved the Doctor's life time and time again. She was an amazing companion. I love Rose and Donna, but this Martha hate has gotten out of hand and is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Martha was useful, kind, caring and good and she was the most human when she saved the universe. She was amazing.

aww, that part at the end of runaway bride where he says 'her name was Rose' just breaks my heart... he looks like he's about ready cry. I actually hated Martha for a really long time in series 3. My only consolation was that Rose was mentioned in every single episode, lol. As long as he doesn't forget about Rose, I don't mind martha, although I am really happy rose is coming back!!
