A seventeen year old with no prior history of crime commits a crime, and more than half of your viewers think that the state should have a right to take his life?
My mom was brutally murdered by my stepdad, and I'm not going to lie, when it happened I wanted him to die. But now, years later, I've realized that no good can come from more killing, especially when motivated by revenge.
This isn't Bin Laden, it's a seventeen year old kid.

Was it worth the risk, I feel the same odds apply here, but in light of that I feel there should be two groups of people put in something like a life setance and something along the lines of people that we know did it with substancial evidence such as witnesses or actual videos of the crime or what not and people we think did it who are kept with no chance of getting out unless evidence proves them innocent? Do you think the violent video games may? make killing more 'common' an idea? I don't allow them, but when I visit my friends their kids are constantly killing killing killing people on those games. Blood, sounds ect. It HAS to be programming kids into a mindset where killing is an everyday causual thing, then everything goes back to normal when the game is over. What do u think?

@LovinLearnin No problem, I see the value in that games have other benefits but none of them are terribly tangable aside from the read benefits anger release and the possiblity of controling drones if you enter the military, but yeah. Everything in moderation has it's use I suppose.

But thats a bit beside the point even though that is usually linked to the cause of cases like this or school shootings. Violent video games do not contribute the violence any more than TV or music that is violent, if anything it is an outlet for rage, anger and hatred and psychological studies have proved games have either no effect increasing a childs tendancies to be violent
@MF0TY in most cases unless the child was violent to begin with. If the child was already violent or a bully it has been shown to decrease feelings of violence, albeit it's in a somewhat unhealthy way as they could also get this from sports or boxing or other methods of releasing stress and anger. These emotions are completely natural and a part of nearly all life on this planet and there is no changing that, only repressing it which is what games do.

@LovinLearnin One other point I could raise is if what you assumed were true was true, every time a game like call of duty modern warfare 3, or battlefield 3 were released onto the populous we would see a massive rise in violent crime among those who purchased it, again sorry for being rude but I hope this helps if interested you could also look at violent crime statistics within a say 6mo-1yr period of violent games releases but as I said they are entertainment and an outlet for anger.
@MF0TY Actually I love and have always loved very aggressive rock, that too has been blamed for increase in violence, killings, suicide ect. I grew up in the 70's & 80's. Video games were like donkey kong, pac man, mario brothers, most kids played outside. I have seen from my own kids (16,13) that they can out beat all the kids in the neighborhood regarding climing trees, running, quick thinking, the kids today are way more sluggish and out of touch with nature outside and of themselves.
You cannot justify taking someone's life for any reason, and saying you are justified in doing so is a contradictory statement. An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind.
Based on what you have said (I haven't heard/read this story anywhere else) - I say neither. If there is no obvious motive, I say let whoever specializes in psychology on the government level pick at his brain, test him, do whatever to him to possibly discover a way to reform future cases similar to this one.
He knew the difference between right and wrong or he wouldn't have hid the bodies. Any decent prosecutor will use that against him. The real snake in that picture is the kid.

This kid probably has grand parents, cousins, haunts, uncles and so on.... The death penalty would just kill an extra member of the family, he should not be released in society for sure but I think that it would be better to let the rest of his family decide what to do.

How about this. Tell him he's got the death sentence, he will have to live with the fact that he will die. The death penalty is too easy. Not only that the entire process is going to waste enough resources that we could have saved many other deserving children. While there is possibility of reform for almost everyone, my initial impression is that reform would be very difficult if not impossible. Is that a reason to put someone to death? If we concluded that reform was impossible, could we still not wish to see him spend life in prison or face another punishment / quarantine? I believe we can.

Do you think the violent video games may? make killing more 'common' an idea? I don't allow them, but when I visit my friends their kids are constantly killing killing killing people on those games. BUT I never ever thought that it was a positive outlet for anger. This never occured to me. If the child was already violent or a bully it has been shown to decrease feelings of violence, albeit it's in a somewhat unhealthy way as they could also get this from sports or boxing or other methods of releasing stress and anger. These emotions are completely natural and a part of nearly all life on this planet and there is no changing that, only repressing it which is what games do.

@LovinLearnin One other point I could raise is if what you assumed were true was true, every time a game like call of duty modern warfare 3, or battlefield 3 were released onto the populous we would see a massive rise in violent crime among those who purchased it, again sorry for being rude but I hope this helps if interested you could also look at violent crime statistics within a say 6mo-1yr period of violent games releases but as I said they are entertainment and an outlet for anger.

@MF0TY Actually I love and have always loved very aggressive rock, that too has been blamed for increase in violence, killings, suicide ect. I grew up in the 70's & 80's. Video games were like donkey kong, pac man, mario brothers, most kids played outside. I have seen from my own kids (16,13) that they can out beat all the kids in the neighborhood regarding climing trees, running, quick thinking, the kids today are way more sluggish and out of touch with nature outside and of themselves.

I don't think it's a question of being reformed. Society can never trust this boy to be free again. The question is - is he sane or insane. If the latter, then he should be placed in a safe place forever.
If he is sane, then he deserves punishment, and society should not be burdened with an immense bill to mete out that punshment. Death or exile. Some crimes are too cold and callous to care about reform.

Now I'm not saying that anyone deserves to be murdered, but what did his parents do to him to set him off ? This reminds me of Lizzie Borden the axe murderess who killed her parents because they made her life a living hell. This smiling family picture doesn't tell the whole story. Now the kid might be a sociopath in which case there isn't any hope he can be reformed, or his parents might have just pushed him too far, who can say ? I will follow the case as it develops...

The death penalty is too easy. Not only that the entire process is going to waste enough resources that we could have saved many other deserving children. There are thousands of children dying every day from starvation, but we're going keep this waste of oxygen alive for years to come during the appeal process. Only because he was born in a 'civilized' country.
Hopefully he is shanked in prison and his organs harvested to save deserving people. Then he doesn't have to be a complete waste.

Are those my only options? a) should he be killed, or b) can he be reformed? I don't think either. While there is possibility of reform for almost everyone, my initial impression is that reform would be very difficult if not impossible. Is that a reason to put someone to death? If we concluded that reform was impossible, could we still not wish to see him spend life in prison or face another punishment / quarantine? I believe we can.
